Oohhhh, shiny… So many sparkly things… I like Pier 1, but man, I gotta admit it’s overpriced. Some things they sell are definitely not worth the money. And quality is good on some things(some of the furniture is really nice) and pretty«meh» on other things(some of the decorations are cheaply made). I’ve had a comfy papasan chair, and have bought plenty of pillows and random décor from Pier One in the past, but I can’t help thinking I could find similar items somewhere else for half the price. Oh, and my first greeting here was an employee walking up to me trying to get me to sign up for a Pier 1 credit card, ugh. The location is fairly small, but there was plenty of parking. Might not be so easy to turn in off BH Highway during busy hours of the day, though. Didn’t end up leaving with anything as it made me sad for my wallet just thinking about it.

I just really like Pier 1. This location in particular is lovely — they always have their floor set up beautifully. They are a little removed from the street, so you have to look for their sign on the side of Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. But they have plenty of parking, lots of pretty displays, and exceptional customer service. My most recent purchase was a fantastic handmade masquerade mask from Italy that I’m using for my Halloween costume. When the lady staffed that evening saw me lingering because of the $ 40 price tag, she politely helped me come up with other cost-effective ways to make my costume brilliant, and even convinced me to display it on my wall after Halloween because the decorations are just so exquisite. Granted, I was going to buy the mask anyway, but what passion this woman had! Most of the staff I have run into there are very attentive and friendly, as well as knowledgeable about inventory and suggestions if they don’t quite have what you want. If you are looking for home stuff, be sure to at least stop by – it’s eye candy for a creative heart!

I’d never been to this particular Pier 1, but they get three votes just for being across the street from the ice skating rink where my 10 year old decided she«had» to spend her birthday afternoon. Luckily, an older sister and exchange student sister thought circling around the ice with her was fun and allowed me to venture across the street to this treasure trove of goodies. I was there right after Christmas so everything out on the front displays were 50% off. Dangly bangly jewelry for $ 3.95, a $ 2.99 orange plastic recorder perfect for the 4year old, and Christmas ornaments unlike any I’ve ever seen(in a good way) to make next year seem fresh. The best find of the entire shopping trip landed me a green and gold speckled glass dish that now adorns my new office. Every one who has walked through my door since has commented on this gorgeous art piece. I would have expected a price tag of maybe $ 65 or higher. This luscious gem cost a mere $ 16.95. I love to tell everyone I got it from some exotic market while on a cruise through the Greek isles. Sadly no one ever believes me. Maybe because they know I haven’t had a vacation in 3 years. The staff here was very friendly and the displays were neatly organized. I typically find the Pier 1 stores crowded and laden with noxious candle aroma, but I didn’t get a single twinge of a headache in this one. My one true regret of visiting this store was that dang orange plastic recorder. Don’t get me wrong, it works great. TOOGREAT. Do you think Pier 1 carries ear plugs?
