Pier One Imports

This is one of those places I used to like more than I do now. I think that is because I have to much stuff already.
They have some good stuff. Like furniture, dishes, decorating stuff… Most of it looks nice, and the prices are OK.
Any more I just come for that oil stuff that makes my place smell better. Staff always gets me on my way again fast.

I miss Import Plaza so bad.
I know I’m idealizing the memory of the place. I know it was stuffed full of kitschy, tacky and cheap mass-​produced crap that was boated over from the other side of the planet (looking at YOU, Taiwan).
I don’t care. You see, I LOVED my Year of the Rooster 7oz coffee cup. I adored my bamboo calendar. In the 70s I was able to decorate my entire apartment in Oriental motif’ for about 17 dollars, which equals out to about 312,462 dollars in 2015 (USD).
Most (if not all) of the stuff at Pier One is a cut above and you will certainly pay the difference. Whatever the obverse of the turd on a wedding cake analogy is, that’s what these folks are doing here. Classing the place up in the Oriental manner.
We came in here and found a nice set of coffee cups after looking in at least 10 other places.
For some reason, all the other places had cups with very large handles; I’m talking 3, maybe 4 fingers. That’s a waste of a lot of valuable cabinet space. Those cups need to share space with the 27 travel cups and all the ones we bring back from the beach.
I’m thinking that I will put Pier One higher on my list next time I go looking for the odd thing or 2.

I’m not generally one to Unilocal this kind of place, as you usually know what you’ll find, but I had an amazing experience at this location! First of all, I found the dining table I have been searching for. Huge score. Second, and the reason I’m writing this review — incredible service. We had a few other stops to make, but we were able to pay for the table and pick it up later. We had a bit of a challenge with the loading part, as we had a small rental car and weren’t planning on bringing home a dining set. However, the entire process went incredibly smoothly thanks to Veronica (possibly the wrong name… I know it starts with a V… I’m sorry!!) Anyway, she was fantastic! She came out with the large box, and helped us strategize and tie it down, IN THE POURING RAIN and with a smile. We had to come up with some innovative loading, and I honestly don’t know what we would have done without her.

I always want to find something cool here… but am always brought down to reality that none of the stuff is designed to last for more than about 4.5 seasons. It’s so cramped that I won’t take my kids in there for fear that merely reaching out to hold my hand will cause something to fall over.
The staff are nice, but you get asked about help every 14 feet. Unless you have something very, very specific in mind, this place is nothing but a store full of impulse purchases waiting to drain your wallet.
It smells nice though.

I visited this store about a week before Christmas. The selection and prices were fine — the customer service ranged from non-​existent, to indifferent, to outright rude and back. I probably won’t shop here again. These people are the reason amazon. con exists.

Nice location that had everything I was looking for. Had to purchase a few expensive items at different stores so decided to come to Portland to save the tax. This location had the items I’d come down to find, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I know there’s some major construction going on at the Jantzen Beach Center, but seek out this Pier One, they’ve got great stuff and are worth navigating the construction to find great deals.

Love this location I guess because there is hardly any traffic there, not crowded and always have good deals that others do not have. they are having a 50% off sale now. so check it out.
