About the late night hour you roll into oasis, you know what you are in for. Downstairs is a casual bar with giant jenga, outside is beer pong, picnic table and port a potties. Upstairs is a hot mess of stripper like dancing, dudes with too much axe trying to grind on you, a bachlorette paryty in progress and drinks flowing. It a fun stop on a night out and perfect when everyone gets that I have to dance because I had a few vodkasodas urge. There is a DJ who plays upbeat music that no one will rememeber the next day but is great for dancing.

A decent sized crowd for a Wednesday night — an even mix of guys and gals ranging in age, lots of people outside for live music and inside for the bar. Was looking for a live band and some drinks after hookah at The Purple Caterpillar and heard music playing from Fore Street. Wandered in and was super surprised. Very fun vibe and kind of a dive — like being in a college basement. Nice bartenders, tons of giant games(jenga, connect 4 on the walls), and a decent outside area. AWESOMEPRICES. Overall, end of night drinks: 2 fireball shots, 2 Tallboy IPAs, Jameson on the rocks — $ 25. Coming from Boston that’s a steal! The only thing you really need to know: FREEMARIOKARTONWII (with ID and credit card) We were looking for a more laid back night since we had to drive back to Boston the next morning and this place was perfect — video games with live music in the background(fun covers of 90s to 1000s music). Another plus: carafe of ice water and cups ready for quaffing. 4.5 stars rounded up. Would totally come back!

It’s a club. The second floor is techno music. Crowded and sweaty. Not that great. The garden at the back has bands playing. The night we went was a local band that played rock from 60 to 90s. Great band. Crowd mixed some locals and some tourists

After the disappointment that was 51 wharf, my friend and I walked across to Oasis. Upstairs is their dance club. When we first arrived 10 – 10.30p, there were only 3 girls up there. Once we wandered outside for a bit, everyone started coming(even a bachelorette party!) So back in we went. The DJ was on fire! From new hits(think fancy and talk dirty to me) to MJ throwbacks, there was something to keep everyone moving. We even saw a an older gentleman dancing with the bride to be and dropping to his knees for an air guitar solo! The only complaint I have is that the second floor gets crowded quick, so it’s rather warm. Definitely drink lots of water before you go! If I came back to Portland, I’d definitely hit up Oasis for dancing!

If you go into Oasis knowing what to expect, it’s one of, if not the best summer bar in Portland. This is not a haven for craft beer and small plates. It’s not classy and doesn’t pretend to be. It’s simply really fun and inexpensive with great entertainment and one of the larger outdoor patios in the city. In the winter the downstairs is a smaller chill bar and the upstairs becomes a nightclub. It’s a younger crowd and is ok, but nothing special. In summer though the place shines. The outdoor patio is probably the second biggest after Porthole and is a blast for all ages. There’s giant Jenga(think a Jenga game that builds to 6 feet tall), giant Connect Four, giant Beer Pong(played with dodge balls and buckets), a full outdoor bar, beer stations and many picnic tables. The patio front hosts some of the best cover bands and DJs that the city has to offer. The crowd is lively, energetic and mostly avoids the trouble that can plague 51 Wharf and Pearl(not Taphouse). I often hate those two nightclubs but love Oasis. The service is top notch. There’s rarely a wait for a drink even with the usually packed crowds, and the bartenders are extremely friendly. There can be a wait to get into Oasis though on beautiful summer nights, and you will see many bachelor/bachelorette parties. Be prepared to do the crazy stunts on their lists. Finally, the prices! In a world of $ 8 beers and $ 13 mixed drinks around Portland, this is a huge relief. You can get a 24 ounce PBR in a paper bag, which is really fun, for less than $ 5. I have yet to order a mixed drink over $ 8. It’s refreshing to see a bar still exist that leaves you feeling(perhaps too) good for less than $ 20. So it’s not upscale. You can leave the expensive dress shirts and shoes behind. Oasis is just a good time with a boisterous crowd and one of the larger outdoor sections around. I do recommend leaving before closing(1 am) though. The spill out from all of the bars onto Wharf Street isn’t always pretty.

My friends and I loved this place because it was so different from anything we find in our local. They have life size connect four on the walls, life size jenga, a huge outdoor area, and a nightclub atmosphere upstairs. This allowed for wonderful socialization. There was plenty to enjoy and was very different from other bar experiences. Yes there are port-a-potties out back but go upstairs and there are some nice bathrooms. It was fun but got crowded as the night went on. Drinks were cheap to us but we don’t have much reference to the Portland market as we were on vacation. I would recommend this for a late night stop to enjoy some fun.

Oh man, Oasis. This is where you’ll end up after you’ve had one too many cocktails and decide you want to go dancing. Some dancing may be had here but mostly it will turn into a creep fest faster than you expect. I’ve experienced Oasis sober and drunk, and obviously it’s way more tolerable with the latter. Oasis is only fun, in my opinion, if you’re there 3 or 4 drinks in(at least for me — some of you may have higher tolerances which I guess I applaud you for but your liver probably doesn’t) and it’s about 20 – 30 min. until last call and you’re dancing your heart out with some guy friends in tow — making sure the creepers don’t get too close. They do have sort of min-beach pail rum drinks which takes me back to bar hopping on Boylston St. in Boston, but if you’re sober and it’s not dark enough all I want to do is finish my drink and leave. If you’re thinking about going to Oasis — should you go? Sure, yes — go! But please be careful ladies as I’ve heard some horror stories with men lurking in packs during closing time trying to creep on the drunkest women. Just close your eyes and, unforgivingly picture a dance club in Portland ME and you’ll get Oasis, in all it’s glory.

$ 4 for a water? After a couple drinks at Oasis I ordered a water and was told it would be $ 4, it didn’t seem to matter when I told them I wanted tap water. When I complained about paying for tap water and told them I though that it was unsafe not to offer free water to someone they had already served alcohol I was asked to leave. I won’t be going back again

Summary: Good bar with fun games to play. Pros: Have a beer pong table, oversized Jenga, oversized connect 4 and oversized beerpong(with buckets and an inflatable ball). Also had live music round back(which is outdoors) Cons: None Comments: Pretty fun time in Portland. Lots of games to play and outdoors is nice when the weather cooperates.

Oasis is a lot of fun. They have a club upstairs to dance the night away and a lounge bar downstairs to fight with your date because she’s a beligerant drunk and can’t stand losing at life-size Connect Four :) Just sayin.

Checked out this place on a short trip to Portland on a Thursday. Really chill bar, with some cool waterfalls-in-the wall type of décor and the best part, 1 dollar vodka redbulls(on tap!) till 10. Not too crowded early, ended up being a nice bar to get buzzed cheap before hitting some other night spots in the Old Port.

This place actually blows. Like, a lot. Maybe it’s because I’m much closer to 30 than 20, but I cannot imagine 21-year old Heather lovin’ this place so much, either. Why so awful? Let’s recap the evening: 1. Porta potties. That’s right, folks. This place has a nice outdoor back patio area that you’d THINK would be kind of awesome, but in reality is just a fenced-in area for men in baggy jeans to vom on themselves, 21-year old chicks with a nice head-start on Party Face to chain smoke cigarettes, and everyone to wait in long lines to use porta potties. Disgraceful. 2. The second floor is a clubby-club, complete with a «stage» for ladies to sexy-dance, strobe lights, and bad top 40s mixes. Add to this a wall lined with creepy late-20s men watching the aforementioned dancing ladies, waiting for their chance to swoop in and rub their junk on the ladies’ behinds and call it «dancing». Gross. 3. Bachelorette parties. There were at least 3 brides there the other night… I was hoping to see some Bride Wars-type ass-whooping go down with the jealous Bridezillas, but no such luck. There was, however, a plethora of inflatable penises and sexy-white bedazzled bride tank tops. 4. Umbrella drinks 5. $ 4PBR cans. $ 4? WHAT? Come on. There are a few positives to this place, however… the no-cover thing was nice(though I guess it’d be laughable to try and get $ 5 out of me to walk into a place like that. Also, they have oversized party games — Connect 4 the size of a wall, giant Jenga… because giant things are just cooler than the normal-sized versions. If I didn’t love my sister so much(and thus spent the entire evening at this God-awful place that 30 year olds should NEVER visit), I would never have walked in. But I love her, and she loves dancing. I obviously wouldn’t go there of my own volition, and I certainly won’t go back… that is, unless my adorable little sister asks me to be her DD again, in which case, I just can’t say no to that girl.

Great place to grab a drink at night. The drinks are cheap — $ 1 and $ 2 beer. The giant games are also fun and the music was good. Got really crowded around 11 when people started dancing, and there’s no cover.

Ohhhh Oasis… you know how to treat a girl! It’s always incredibly crowded and hot(time to invest in an AC methinks), I always have my feet stepped on by at least one girl who does not know how to walk in stilettos, and I’ve yet to visit without being sexually/physically harassed by men who are far too old and creepy to be out on a Friday night. All those things said, I rarely make a trip to the Old Port without having a drink(or two) here. They’re cheap and strong so I’ll put up with the creepers and extremely drunk girls who just turned 21. And hey, sometimes there’s nothing better than having your hair pulled by a 35 year old, 5ft Mexican man who’s just«trying to get your attention» cause he «really wants to dance». Ego boost? I think so!

Oasis may actually be the best club-like spot in Portland, ME, but that isn’t saying much. Maybe I’m used to REAL clubs in NYC, but for what it’s worth, Oasis was«aight.» They make a big deal about checking ID’s, which is pretty cool. They have a bar & patio section. The upstairs sports the dancehall. The DJ was decent & the dance floor was kinda small, but it worked. They’re plenty of cute girls walking around w/tasty $ 3 shots. My friend had like 20 of them. Needless to say, she had a WAY better time then I did. They also had tall boys of PBR inside a paper bag & that was pretty cute. They were a LOT of lesbians in the club(& in Maine, in general), which is fine, but sometimes I find lesbians to be so over-board about certain things. While I was dancing I bumped arms with some chic & in a real butch voice I was told nastily to watch my arms. REALLY??? I mean, bumping into people is expected in a club! I saw her bump into like 50 girls while she was dancing & she said nothing to them. In fact, she smiled at some of them. Other than that experience of racism(I’m figuring it was racism), Oasis is fine for Portland.

Portland is a pretty small town… and, we didn’t see too many attractive people… this place is probably somewhere you want to go if you’re visiting, beers are cheap… people are friendly… Maine is serious about checking ID for alcohol… we got our ID’s checked 2 times! This place is pretty fun, they have giant everything, giant jenga, giant connect four… and. i think that’s it… We came before dinner so it wasn’t very crowded, after dinner we were thinking about going back, but there was a long line. I guess this is the place to be if you are going out and having a good time. Some of the girls that worked there were pretty cute. mmm k, heyyyy girrrrr… yeah, if I ever go back out, I’m def coming back to this place… girrrrlll…

stumbling through the old port wiith the birthday crew. after a few stops it was time to step it up a notch and do some«clubbing» straight in and i am greeted by one of the most fantastic things ever a quickie bar with 24 oz PBR mega tall boys served complete with a brown paper bag. short line and i’m in the upstairs dance music blaring and flourescent colors everywere. It’s pretty packed and the crowd is into the music and while not the best it’s doing the trick. up to the ministage by the side for just enough room for dancing. a few of the girls go the the platform to the front and shortly later i get a nice chuckle from the dude that tries to follow them. chea[ little test tube shots and things are going really well. they get another little plus for the smoking area outside with benches and all but… portapotty really not so much of a fan

Really nice bar with a fun vibe… like all reviewers said, they have Connect Four game on walls and then one in the outside patio. Jenga of course all around and plus live music and lots of picnic tables outside and a bar inside and out. Really nice place with good music and good ambiance.

I have 2 words for you — Giant Jenga. Apparently the Lo-Dive Lounge in Colorado has this phenomenally awesome game? But, I myself had never played until stumbling upon Oasis in Portland. And let me tell you — it was fun, fun, fun! This is a fairly casual bar that drew us in with promises of live music and dollar drafts. And it delivered, although the«live» music was one guy with a guitar that sang Sweet Carolina and a beer song multiple times in the 2 hours we were there. Hey. I can’t complain — I sang along each time. For a cheap drink in an alley street of Portland I’d offer up the suggestion of Oasis any night.
