Grt prices giant portions and grt tasting food. They would get 5 stars if they delivered. We ordered the BBQ pork, subgum chicken chow mien, crab puffs and combo fried rice. My wife and I ate on it for a couple of days. I was shocked that the crab puffs were still crunchy the next day. This was a really nice treat been looking for some grt Chinese food and I have found my new spot

Used to lunch here once a month or so but its been a year. Tons of tasty food for little money. When i was working I’d get tomorrows lunch from the same plate. The general tso’s chicken spicier than usual. lots of chicken, the fried rice light & flavored. the hot & sour soup more warm but spicy & good. Quick service. Abby liked her mongolian beef, and Mike didn’t say much about his lo mein, I’m also a big fan of the black mushroom pork.

So good! Huge menu! Just like the Chinese restaurants I used to eat at when living back east. Super crisp chicken in Tsao and Orange dishes. Bbq pork, juicy. Owners are so sweet. Great price. Happy, happy me!

I throughly enjoy all of the food we had. Their BBQ pork is beyond phenomenal doesn’t really have a BBQ taste but the taste is so exquisite that I almost ate my boyfriends plate after already filling up on their pork noodles which were also very good. Prices are super low, quality is high, and portions are HUUUUGGEE

I have been going to this place for at least 10 years. The food has always been above what you normally see around town. Prices are great and you get large portions. I get the mandarin Chicken house special. This lasts me all day for about $ 8.50. They are kind enough to fulfill my request of putting the food into individual containers as is easier for me to bring to work than the normal plastic container. overall, The food is great, service is good(always friendly with me), and the restaurant itself has been around forever. So if anything, a renovation may be due. But that is the last thing on my list.

Food: Excellent. I used to eat here regularly and it was the eatery of choice for myself and my roommates. I introduced many people to NHF who became regulars. The orange chicken is incredible. Service: It was okay until one day I was given a stern lecture by the waitress in the middle of the restaurant about how I had been ordering wrong(though she admitted there was nothing on the menu to let me know otherwise) for about 15 minutes, loudly, in front of other customers and my friends. It was BYFAR the absolute WORST customer service experience I’ve had. I sold internet door-to-door for 6 months, and nothing I experienced doing sales made me as anxious as this experience. I had a session in counseling over this incident, and I’m generally an emotionally stable and laid back guy. It’s up to you if it’s worth the risk. Maybe order take out. I had lots of delicious eating experiences here before, but now the thought of returning fills me with an unmanageable level of anxiety. None of my friends or housemates have come back here either, and the friends who had been with me were infuriated. You don’t treat people like that. Ever.

Actually, this was a great ‘go to’ in order to nurse a hangover away with some greasy Chinese-American for lunch. For a 5 spot and change you would receive your General Tso portion, pork fried rice, fortune cookie, and a couple of cream cheese crab puffs to round it out. Sadly, the crab puffs are now awol and the portions seem all around a bit more skimped. It seems as if the place is downsizing on portions to offset the lack of butts in booths. We ordered two soft drinks with our lunch and were brought two cans(ala vending machine style) — no accompanying glasses with ice(but at least they were cold I suppose) I get the sense that happy fortune is struggling which is sort of a downer, because at one point in time this place was a solid 3 and a half star. Some of the comments I’ve read about cleanliness have me spooked as well.

I think we found our new favorite Chinese place in PDX. We ordered the shrimp with vegetables and beef with broccoli, and both were delicious. The thing that sets this place apart is how affordable it is; tasty food plus reasonable price equals happy eater. This would be a five star review if they had brown rice.

Roaches… and mice… Dropping we’re found on the bathroom floor. Plus that lady is very rude and sorta stuck up that works the front all the time. I’ll save my time and hard earned money and go elsewhere. Shame too

I want to love this place SO much, as close as it is to home, but… yeah… not so much. One the bright side, it’s a huge portion of food for a decent price, and soup is only 75 cents! Downside is that the quality of the beef left a lot to be desired, and all of the sauces were kind of gelatinous. Oddly enough, it made pretty great leftovers.

Used to be a good place to eat and staff was friendly. Not sure what happened, but hope it changes soon. :(

This place is prob the best Chinese food I’ve had in Portland. At least on the east side. If anyone can find a better Chinese food place let me know but New Happy tops the charts in my book.

well went here again to give her a chance I dont want to write a long story but she –made no eye contact –she did not seat us, we seated ourselves(she threw her hand up & said find a seat) –she is un-professional my family will not be coming here she has bad energy, the lady before her was nice & always knew what we wanted. I always order the same thing. If you dont like your job lady then change careers… your chinese food isnt the only place with Pepper Salt shrimp! There are other spots that are quite delish with great customer interaction!!! I will go elsewhere… so much for giving it a try AGAIN

Waitress is not professional. She stood a few feet away from us, watching us the whole time. And asked us to clear off our own table. The cheap food is not compensation enough for the poor service. My advice to you, take-out.

BEWARE. THISRESTAURANTHASROACHES. We ordered takeout yesterday evening and found cockroaches in both the meals. The manager refused to compensate us. The staff handled the situation poorly. Overall, a bad experience with a dishonest establishment.

I found this place with my roommate one night randomly because we were craving some Chinese food and boy were we disappointed. Food: 1) Chicken Lo Mein: The only thing that was remotely edible, but only relative to the other two dishes. When compared to normal food it was still not up to par. The chicken was pretty tender but it lacked flavor. The noodles were oily. 2) Sesame Chicken: Looked like deep fried fish sticks, tasted like chicken nuggets and the side dipping sauce looked like watered down ketchup. The whole thing was just a big disappointment, visually and taste wise! 3) Fried Rice: worst fried rice EVER! Low quality ingredients with luke warm old rice… gross! Service: The waitress warned my roommate and I BEFORE we even ordered that this food is «Americanized» and will not be up to our Asian taste standards, which was NICE but she could have told us to just get up and leave because we were NOTGOINGTOENJOYITATALL. Even after we ordered something she recommended, I was still utterly disappointed! Ambiance: We were the only table there. Really quiet place woth typical Chinese décor. Looked organized, neat and clean but chairs were kinda and had tears in them. There was nice music playing in the background but it looped around shortly and we ended up hearing the same song several times. Price: The meal came out to be $ 9 which is cheap for dinner and how much food they gave us but when you think about how bad the food was… I think it was NOTWORTHIT. Overall: I WILLNEVERCOMEDINEHEREAGAIN! I don’t know why ANYONE would come eat here! I honestly don’t remember the last time I had food this bad! I think I would have honestly been WAY happier eating at Panda Express! This place gives Chinese food a bad name! I’m ashamed to admit that I even subjected my taste buds to this!

Since writing my review and re-visiting the restaurant, the usual waitress has been much nicer. The rest of the staff has been great too. Coincidence or not, I’m very grateful for the change in attitude. I’ve heard her make conversations with her tables, and she smiles at me now and thanks me genuinely. I no longer feel awkward/unwanted in her restaurant, and its starting to feel like my cozy escape from work. I haven’t had any rubbery chicken either, and I can now highly recommend the lo mein. It’s not greasy like normal American Chinese lo mein. It’s light and delicious. I’m still a little bummed that all the fortune cookies are stale, but I love my fortunes so much, I eat them anyway. for good luck.
