Awesome(and huge!) carne asada burritos! Reminded me a lot of Southern California burritos that I had back in college: gigantic, full of flavor, and lots of ingredients. These burritos not only had tasty carne asada, but also came with rice, beans, cilantro, guacamole, and jalapenos inside. And the sauces they have on the table are also great, and very spicy. One is a red sauce and one is a green jalapeño sauce. Ate my burrito before noon today and just barely had my dinner around 6:30 p.m. Extremely filling. Staff seems pretty nice too, and our burritos came out very quickly. Will definitely come back here!

Our go-to when craving great Mexican food. Super friendly staff as well. I’m hooked on all of their tamale varieties, especially the poblano pepper & cheese. Don’t forget to order the homemade horchata.

Wish I lived in Oregon to go to this restaurant more often! Delicious food, great portions and it is just a very cute and great place to grab some Mexican and a drink. Low key and small it is wonderful! I loved the nachos and taco salad and esp great peach mojito! Will return every time we visit Portland!

I love this place– it is my staple takeout spot, but also a nice place to sit and hang out. Eliseo(the owner) and his wife are super friendly, and I look forward to going in to say hi to them. Really delicious and affordable food! My favorite is the relleno burrito: chile relleno with steak and toppings galore in a burrito. Delicious. Come for the food, stay for the company and European soccer on the tele.

Street tacos are the best. That being said, some of my fellow Unilocalers really enjoy the vittles here at Nayar Taqueria. At this point I’ve had so many different tacos from so many different places here in town and elsewhere that it’s subtle differences that I notice when I go to places now. I was passing by on my way from the post office and I wanted to try a place I hadn’t been to and I had passed by a few taco places and somehow ended up here by complete randomness. Nayar Taqueria has a large selection of meat and veggie options for tacos or burritos. My standard is lengua. I don’t know why I enjoy it, but it has to be done right. If it looks like a piece of tongue on a tortilla? I’m probably not going to enjoy it. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here. I ordered a two taco platter, lengua and carnitas and it came with rice and beans. I also got one of my newer favorite drinks, Jamaica. I don’t know what caused me to try this in the first place, curiosity maybe? But I’ve enjoyed it ever since that first taste. It’s a little on the tart side and it’s soooo good. It was later in the afternoon and the shop only had five other customers there so my food came out rather quickly. A few different hot sauces to taste and I was well on my way. None were really hot, but they had good flavor to them. The rice and beans were great, as most all places seem to get them correct around here. The tacos were also on point. The lengua was perfect and the carnitas had some good seasonings to them. I was content. The guy running the place was friendly and made sure all was good. It was. I can see why some of my Unilocal friends enjoy Nayar. I will be back soon, especially since it’s not too far from where I live. Enjoy.

I ate there for the first time yesterday. I found the vegetarian burrito to be one of the best in PDX. The filling was made from FRESH vegetables and the beans are homemade. And everything was tasty. I found out their margaritas are made with a mix they make themselves. I’m going back to try the margaritas and to find out if they have a happy hour. fyi, Their meats don’t come from animals injected with hormones and junk. Good quality food. Highly recommended.

Best Mexican food on Foster hands down. I love this place. Super nice staff and owner. If you understand Spanish you can watch the day’s soccer match and know what’s going on! But the important part is the food. And it’s delicious! The tacos are good, the mole is good, the classico relleno is good, it’s all good! They also serve Victoria, which is the best Mexican beer for my money. If you haven’t been here come check it out. I eat here all the time and have never been disappointed. Thanks, Nayar!

Nayar Taqueria, is banging out super nice tacos, burritos and plates. The staff is quite friendly and humorous, and the surroundings are warm. I enjoyed a variety of different tacos, lengua and chile verde being the most resonant. They also have vegan and veg options as well. I highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood and have a hankering for some good Mexican food.

I know there are many good taco places in SE Portland(I’ve been to a lot of them) so I was pretty impressed to see Nayar Taqueria rated as one of the very best on Unilocal.I ordered an al pastor taco and a carne asada taco, my two favorite meats. They were both very flavorful and the meat was nicely grilled and browned. Seemed like maybe they use better cuts of meat than some other places because both the al pastor and carne asada were lean and not fatty or gristly. The al pastor also had pieces of pineapple in it from its marinade, and I always like that. I do think that the tacos were a bit expensive.. .but that’s just because I’m extremely frugal(cheap). I go to other places where I can get really good tacos for under $ 2.00, which is more in my target price range. However, in regard to the tastiness of the food at Nayar Taqueria, I think it’s wonderful.

Cute place! They offer varieties of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. I got the carne asada burrito but«wet» it was topped with guacamole, pico de gallo, green sauce. Beautiful, flavorful & delicious! I was super happy with the service and food! Definitely will come back again!

Our new go to in Fopo. The food is great. Over 10 choices of taco options mostly under $ 3. Burritos for $ 7. Fresh ingredients made to order. Also, an entire vegan/veggie menu. But the customer service from the owner is what really makes this place deserve 5 stars. I would give it more if I could. In a city where lackluster service and a care less attitude prevails-he goes above and beyond daily. He greets everyone with a smile, recognizes regulars, and takes the time to get to know you. We frequent this place because of him. We know we always will get great service, quick, and with a smile. I wish more places in Portland were like this. He makes me smile every time I go in. Thank you Nayer for for not fitting in to the standard of sub par service in Portland.

This place is a gem! Our friends live right around the block and took us here one night. I was blown away – Nayar serves some of the most vibrant Mexican food I’ve had in the states. So far, everything we’ve tried has been a winner. I really appreciate the large menu, which has a nice variety of tacos, salads, and entrees. It’s great that they include so many seafood items and are willing to accommodate many dietary restrictions. The margaritas are tasty(not too sweet) and the owner, a very friendly and welcoming guy, always seems to stop by for a chat. Be aware; it’s a no-frills kind of place.

Oh, Nayar. Our love affair was so sweet but much too short! I can’t tell you how glad I am that we stopped in at Nayar on our recent visit to Portland. While it was a little bit out of the way, we figured that all the raving Unilocal reviews about their food couldn’t lead us astray and that it must be worth it. Well, it was SO worth it. I’m still dreaming about their tacos now. We tried the mole chicken, chorizo, carnitas, and shrimp tacos. All of them are hefty and threaten to bust out of their corn tortilla shells, loaded up with lots of the good stuff. Every taco we had was delicious, but my favorites were definitely the chorizo and shrimp tacos. The chorizo was so flavorful and went perfectly with the onions and cilantro. The shrimp taco was the best taco I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve had a lot of tacos. The freshly grilled shrimp with the slightly sourness of the pickled red cabbage and the bite of the jalapenos makes for the perfect combination of flavors, and it was so good that after I had eaten my four tacos, I had to really restrain myself from buying another whole plate of shrimp tacos. Awesome food aside, it’s a nice looking space with friendly customer service. All you Portland people are lucky to have this place so close by. As for me, I’ll just need to plot my next trip to Portland so I can rendezvous with my shrimp tacos again.

The service was friendly. We kind of just went in for a light snack, so I can’t comment on their larger plates. But the chips and guacamole were tasty(though I like my guacamole better) and the tacos were all pretty darn good. I don’t know if they’re the most memorable tacos I’ve ever had, but I wouldn’t count them out for a future visit when the mood strikes. (P.S. I don’t know what that guy means by «NOPUBLICRESTROOMS». If you’re a customer and you go in there, there’s a bathroom to your left from the cash register. I used it. It exists.)

I don’t live in the neighborhood, but this place is worth the trip. The food is amazing — particularly the chicken mole burrito, the al pastor tacos, and the chicken tinga tacos. I find myself craving them. And it’s a very friendly, family-owned place. They really seem to take pride in their food and their service. It’s nice to see a successful small business on Foster Road. It makes me think about moving so I can be closer to where the new action is!

One of the more decent Mexican establishments here in Portland. I’ve been here a handful of times. The owner is definitely friendly, and so is the rest of his family. The restaurant is very simple. I would definitely give out more stars, if I were to write the review on my first visit it probably would be five stars. We came and dined in one night, and had waited awhile. They messed up on our order, and gave me soggy nachos. I didn’t want them to re-do it, but my significant other wouldn’t let me eat anymore of the soggy nachos. The owner said he was sorry, and re-did the order. They knew it had been sitting for awhile, because they screwed up our order. My stomach wasn’t that happy the next day. I know now, that if something doesn’t taste right, I need to voice that opinion right away! I will definitely still give Nayar’s a second chance. Order the carne asada burrito wet with green sauce. It’s one of the best burritos in the area. Also, when they do it right, the nachos are pretty amazing.
