I am so sad to write this review. This is basically a meat and three. We went on a Sunday after the lunch rush at 2 pm. It was not busy. It took 10 minutes to be greeted. After being informed they were out of the chicken special, we ordered. Before our meal arrived the server returned to ask about our ordered(it always makes me nervous when they don’t write it down). My husband basically gave her the order again. She returned a second time to tell us they were out of turnip greens. Someone in our party needed to pick a new vegtable. We waited a total of 38 minutes to receive our food. When the food came out, we were brought rolls and informed that the were out of cornbread. We held out hope thinking that perhaps the food would be fantastic. Sadly, it was not. The chicken fried steak tasted as it was purchased prebreaded as did the okra. The 2 orders of turnip greens we did receive were tasteless. When I asked for apple cider vinegar, I was told… they didnt have any. The macaroni and cheese was dry and did not taste home made. The mashed potatoes, sweet tea and grilled chicken were good. That was the extend of the good news. Finally, my husband ordered but did not receive a salad. He asked our waitress to please remove it from the bill. When we received our final bill, the salad had been charged. Mediocre food, mediocre service and a serious lack of processes. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day but that was our experience. We wish we’d gone to cracker barrel.

I have eaten here several times and it’s always been outstanding. There Thursday special is a delicious meatloaf that has definitely made me a regular customer. The portions are larger than most restaurants and the atmosphere plus the friendly staff makes dining out an enjoyable experience.
