This place is a dive bar, but not in a good way. The staff is really nice but they can’t make up for what this bar is not. The food here is what you would expect. Overall, easy to forget in a town with so many choices.

Cozy spot with a friendly staff. Reasonable drink prices and a fantastic bar food menu. The nice lady who works there on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday makes some really delicious looking food. I’ll be back to try some of that good cookin.

I live down the street and find myself here from time to time. Friendly bartenders and. gotta love their chicken and wild rice soup. After a cup of soup and a glass of cider one night the bartender even made up some cinnamon toast for the customers at the bar. Bartender of the year!

I gotta tell ya… I’m SUPER impressed. I mean I’ve eaten there before — a while back — but the food tonight was stupid good. Seriously one of the best burgers ever. I had the jalapeño swiss burger with tots and my friend had the club sandwich with fries. Unbelievable! The presentation was great, the food was excellent, and even better, the staff was fantastic! I highly recommend it.

Such a quaint lil spot. Greasy spoon, good folk(mostly) and quite the beer back. The backyard reminds me of my great grandmothers house) a good thing) and I love hitting it up before I check out goodwill across the street on Sunday’s. Not five stars cuz they gotta stop doing live music shows. Too small, too loud.

I walked in to use their ATM, located near the back on the left hand side, just past the end of the bar. As soon as I stepped in, I heard the sweet sound of live blues music, promptly followed by an older gentleman grabbing me by my elbows and proceeding to dance his heart out! I love dancing and it was terribly hard to resist in that atmosphere. I just wanted to use the ATM and ended up having so much fun! I didn’t eat(mistake) but the food smelled as you would expect, greasy and appetizing. The seating was cramped, but then I assume they switched things up to make room for the live band and dancing. The lighting is sort of romantic, and the whole place has a 50s diner feel to it. It’s obvious that there’s people doing a nopo bar crawl, tourists and of course the regular. The age range seemed to be mid 20s-mid 50s. Nobody behaving their age. Swing by, it’s a nice crowd even on a Sunday.

I’ve been here on multiple occasions, usually looking for brunch and a wee hair of the dog. This neighborhood spot(maybe surprisingly) wins on so many levels from food to service. Some #ProTips: * If they have pudding shots, get one. Or two. I won’t judge. * If the Huevos Rancheros is on special, and you’re a vegetarian, get it. With veg sausage. So good. The right marriage of crispy and hearty. Nom. * If you’re omnivorous, get the BLT. Seriously. Bacon and lettuce. In Every. Bite. Just enough mayo and tomato to bring it all together. So crispy. So soft. So good. /sigh

Best BLTs in town, hands down. I like the atmosphere and the staff here too, but i come for the BLTs.

This place is small and a bit worn, but perfect for a local watering hole — friendly staff and swift service. I’ve had probably half their menu now, and most of it is tasty though just the standard pub food(burgers/etc and fried foods) but their breakfast on the weekends is sizeable and definite hangover-cure fare. Happy hour offers some discounts but really, their prices aren’t bad and they pour a stiff drink. Back patio is small and feels a bit exposed since the neighbors are houses(as is the bar, originally), but quiet, heated in the winter and has birds visiting in the summer. If you can avoid the smokers in the corner its great on a summer after work to sip a cool pint and watch the sunset. Avoid the women’s bathroom in the summer if you can. The heat builds up in there and it isn’t vented properly, so it feels like a sauna.

There is always a local band there. Just like middle aged men dancing, there’s a 50⁄50 chance you’ll be entertained. The staff is ornery unless you spend your retirement fund wasting away in front of the poker machines each week. And, boy, do those regulars know when a newb walks in the door. Their food is what you’d expect for a neighborhood bar, not a dive. It’s greasy, messy and valuable if you are extremely hungover. There is an outdoor space that’s popular with the summer smoking crowd. If you don’t fancy the cooler vibe of the Foggy Notion, you can trade stories about your combover at this place.

I normally would rate this bar a 4 or even a 5, but last night our server, Aaron, made me change my mind. The staff is usually always so friendly. Come to think of it, he’s really the only staff member there that doesn’t seem to be all that friendly. Me and my guy both ordered food(which was delicious), of which he got my order partially wrong(all I asked for was no onions on my salad) and the poor cook felt horrible, he didn’t seem to care — or even ask us how our food was. She did though, she’s fantastic!(female with shorter, blonde hair — super nice) Oh dear… I made the mistake of asking him for a refill on my water. He paused before replying, then said, «um, you know there’s a water station over there(pointing)?» me, «oh, I’m sorry to have bothered you.» He doesn’t say another word, grabs my cup and refills it for me. Was it really that hard to walk 5 feet to get me more water? You were going behind the bar anyway to get my guy another drink. And yet I still tipped you 20%. You’re welcome! Overall, I love this place. Great food, good music, typically awesome staff. I think Aaron just needs the boot or a wake up call!

Throwback Portland style. All friends are welcome. Very low key and comfortable. You won’t find a lot of young people on the prowl for a Saturday night hook-up. Very relaxed, casual atmosphere and the barkeeps are all super friendly. Live music regularly. If Sneakin Out is playing– this place gets packed and gets rocking. Come as you are. Great bar food and reasonable prices.

Sometimes I come here for poker on Monday’s. Service is pretty slow, but friendly enough(they seem to be constantly short staffed). Anything with fried fish is pretty good and the burger is definitely delicious grease monster. As for the chicken strips, the portion size is smaller than other local bars, like Greeley and Twilight Room. Keep in mind food will come out slow since the kitchen is tiny. Their patio area is fairly large. I heard they have free blues jam nights and a cheap breakfast, so there is probably more to this bar than meets the eye.

My husband and I went all the way from Beaverton to check this place out. We are so glad that we did!!! We really liked the food we ordered; hubby had a classic bacon cheese burger that was really good, and I had the blues bird chicken sandwich… it was fantastic!!! Usually I don’t order chicken crispy sandwiches, but this one was recommended by the server after I couldn’t decided between two items on the menu. She said it was an original from Mock Crest Tavern, so I had to try it. The chicken was cook perfect, it wasn’t at all greasy or oily, just juicy and crispy, I really enjoyed it!!! I still salivating just writing about it. The four stars instead of five, was due to the fries that were served with my sandwich, they weren’t as crispy as I like them, they were a little bit soggy, but they had a good taste, just average fries. In the other hand husband had tots and said they were good. The ambience was good, the service was excellent, overall a really nice place to go to have great food, cold brew and live music… what else can you ask? We can’t wait to go again.

Old fashioned tavern place. They have super cheap beers(different ones different days): $ 2 per glass. They also have other specials… there was chocolate mousse shot: very good for $ 2 or less. Their burger was good. Fries were okay. Service was really good.

Five stars across the board in food, drinks, ambiance and ALL the staff is great. Back yard and deck are wonderful and my partner and I love to kick back with our drinks and a cigar. Musical guests are varied and we love to come and see whoever is playing on Friday night. This is my go-to spot to relax away from home. The staff all treat us like family and by the second visit, had our names memorized.

I heart this place. Like really. Not only is the staff really nice, but all of the patrons are too. A real sense of community here. I came on a Sunday morning, and decided to give their $ 2.99 breakfast special a try. A short stack and bacon, both surprisingly good, for super cheap? Hell yeah! For drinks, I got a Bloody Mary. Now, I’m pretty picky about my bloodies(not too spicy or watered down). This one lived up to my expectations.

When I first moved to Portland and discovered this concept pf drinking booze with your breakfast, I used to come here fairly often. I’m pretty sure they do this back in Boston as well, I just never used to join in the brilliant tradition. But I hadn’t been to Mock Crest in years maybe and offered up a coupon — so count me in. A great way to go on a lazy rainy Friday. A tap beer and a whiskey and coke to start. I even had call whiskey choices. I went with Black Velvet. If it’s good enough for Kojak, it’s good enough for me. Our nice and enthusiastic waittress told us the specials. Stuffed pork loin, stuffed with stuffing and served with mashed potatoes. She was especially enthusiastic about that one so we got it. It was superb. The only thing that would have made it better was gravy, but no biggie. We also got the deluxe burger with fries. Both were excellent! I AM a fan! Out in the lovely«bier garden»,(it really is lovely, and clean) we smoked butts and engaged in some discussion of Kevin Costner films and old school bands with some nice guys. Wasn’t till I was going back in did they point out the heater! Only thing I don’t like is too many video poker machines. The place just isn’t big enough… they should take half of them out! But a buck is a buck is a buck. All in all I’m glad I added the Mock Crest back into my repetoire!

Love it ! First of Sept., sat outside in small lush patio/outside. Service-friendly, familiar, attentive Food-Great-to-Good. Home, Comfort food Loads of poker machines for the space Couple TVs to catch sports Great beer selection(for 8 taps) they will switch up their micros & their best quality. Live Music ! Local, Local, you will make a friend here — even if you are shy. The owners are nice and also own Greeley Avenue Bar and Grill. Support them, too ! I had my birthday here, and they gave me a shot with a candle in it. I wasn’t even a regular. But I am now. I wish they had hot wings.
