My most favorite place for chocolates!!! Makes the best gift. Yes they are spendy but the finer things in life are not free! The flavors are quality and lasts a while. They’re are always different flavors rotating. My favorite is the raspberry filling and the passion fruit. Perfect balance of tart, sweetness along with bitterness. It’s perfection in a little nugget form. Everyone I come in there they are always so friendly and offering me as many tastes as I need to make my decisions for myself and gifts for friends. I was introduced to this chocolate lover through a Unilocal event at a lovely massage place called, Zama. They give away a salted caramel chocolate truffle with special massages! The only thing is they are closed on certain days so make sure you check out the hours before coming.

Today I stopped by to get chocolates to bring back for my family. I first tried your chocolate at a yoga retreat in S. Padre Island. Lauri was so nice to let me sample all the new flavors! I love the peach habanero, lemon, bananas foster and salted Pinot! Wow!!! Definitely the best chocolates I’ve ever had!

These chocolates are absolutely heavenly. If you’re vegan or not. The owner Melissa, Naturopathic doctor turned truffle extraordinaire, is incredibly sweet and friendly. I would be super happy too if I got to eat her truffles everyday! Missionary’s truffles are delicious, and way bigger than your standard«truffle size.»(I am not complaining.) I love the espresso, raspberry, cinnamon chipotle, and of course, the vanilla salted caramel. If you get one thing, let it be that. The sea salt is a perfect addition to the rich, silky, vanilla-flecked caramel. So sinful. I also love that she uses Fair Trade chocolate. I’ll be in for Easter goodies!

The best chocolates I’ve had in over five years!!! The chipotle cinnamon was actually spicy and I think I’ve tried every«spicy» chocolate variety I could get my hands on for years and years without ever being impressed. I loved it! My mom and I both fought over the vanilla salted caramel which was so smooth, so perfectly balanced with creamy caramel flavor, sea salt and dark chocolate. I’m not exaggerating. Even my friend who doesn’t like chocolate liked the vanilla salted caramel truffles. I was also impressed by the owner. She’s incredibly lovable and that just makes me want to be even more of a forever loyal customer.

Oh. My. Gosh! Where have you been all my life Missionary Chocolates?!? this is hands down the BEST chocolate I have ever ate in my life(and as a self-proclaimed dessert aficionado and sweet tooth, I’ve definitely eaten a lot!) Even though they are advertised as vegan, it’s so hard to believe because to me, they taste WAY better than regular chocolates made with dairy! I had the amazing pleasure of meeting the owner, Melissa, at a recent event in NE Portland where she was sampling her array of chocolately goodness: we tried the coffee, raspberry, salted, and chipotle(be warned: it actually is spicy!) She was so enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about her product. It was contagious! I now want to start my own business too! The chocolates are squares — about 2“x2″ and dark rich chocolate. Each is slightly differently decorated, but very subtle and very classy. You can get little boxed of 2 or a sampler of 5 to take home. So why not try them all? I certainly hope they branch out into drinking chocolates, ice cream toppers and so much more chocolately goodness! I would literally eat that on everything if I could :) bravo! such a great local gem that I hope continues to grow and prosper!

One word: DELICIOUS! Well I could definitely describe these chocolates in more than one word, but they are SO good! These chocolates are really as good as it gets. The variety of flavors I tried, from chipotle cinnamon to espresso were all so tasty. The espresso one I think is my favorite, but it’s hard to chose just one. They are even vegan! I would’ve never have guessed, but I’d say they are my favorite chocolates. EVER. Which is bold to say, but true. The owner is fantastic, and has a great story about starting her own business. I’m looking forward to visiting her shop in the near future. They make great gifts, and who doesn’t love to support local?!

In the past I’ve purchased these delicious chocolates at Food Front Coop and LOVE them but today I visited the store for the first time. The experience made me very happy to support this local business. The young woman working was so friendly & pleasant, she spoke highly of the owner and her positive experiences working for the company. I arrived near closing time and she did not rush me out and encouraged me to sample the chocolates. I would highly recommend Missionary chocolates. A local business that supports growth of their young employees, desire to give back to the PDX community AND tasty quality chocolates is the trifecta of chocolatiers!

These are some of the best chocolates I’ve ever had. I first tried them when my work made a large order to give out as client gifts. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. All of the flavors are fun and delicious and they are super affordable. Now every time I’m in the neighborhood I stop in to stock up.

Missionary Chocolates are good, no I take that back, they are great. The Meyer lemon is a personal favorite. I have yet to some meet someone who doesn’t love the salted caramel. A perfect treat, a perfect gift, a perfect sample of what small craft Portland has to offer to a friend or family member from out of town. There’s even more to the story, the mission behind missionary chocolates is to support the healthcare needs of those who can’t afford it. On top of that they’re made without many of the harmful ingredients that go into other chocolate you might find, like that big Seattle brand. On top of tasting great that’s at least two more good reasons you can enjoy an individual truffle or a whole gift box!

I love these chocolates. I love them so much that right now I’m staying for a while with family on the eastern seaboard and I order these to be sent from back home in Portland. They’re better than anything else I’ve ever tried and it’s often hard for me to believe they’re vegan and dairy free because they taste BETTER than chocolate made with milk. I’ll never get over my addiction and I don’t want an intervention

After years of working at chocolate shops, I thought my chocolate tooth was ruined(or, at least, too spoiled to please). Then I was lucky enough to start working at a place that sells these ridiculously amazing pieces. You would never guess there was any special dietary consideration taken in making this chocolate. It is as rich and velvety smooth as can be. While the richness does satisfy in a single bite, making a whole piece a bit much to swallow for my taste, they’ve hit their target with a bulls-eye for sure :)

After my vegan niece raving about«the world’s best vegan chocolate» during her visit to Portland in the spring, I stopped in to pick some up as a gift for her on my way through Portland. They generously share samples of their innovative flavors, which are incredibly delicious. The quality is wonderful, as is the customer service. My only disappointment is that the salted rose caramels are seasonal… so I guess that means another road trip to Portland next spring. Don’t miss it!

I was somewhat pessimistic coming into this shop, out of fear that it existed just to be a vegan chocolate shop; to my delight, however, Missionary Chocolates is so much more than that, and it really blew my mind. Not only were the employees extremely helpful and nice, but the chocolates we tasted are truly second to none(not to forget the caramel they are working on!). Seriously though, every single thing I tried was mouthwateringly delicious, and I’m fairly picky when it comes to chocolate. It’s a little pricey, but well worth every penny, plus they were very generous with the samples! The box of assorted chocolate we bought(at our own selection) was without a doubt the tastiest box of chocolates I’ve ever had. I really can’t recommend this place enough, and will definitely be stopping here again next time I’m in Portland!

Missionary Chocolates is almost flawless. It is at a small location at a strip set of stores in the Kerns neighborhood. There aren’t even any tables, just some retail space and plenty of square footage to practice the fine art of chocolate making. Truffles can be acquired at the rate of three dollars a piece. I went here with the hopes of finding some mighty fine chocolate. And such mighty fine chocolate it was. They also gave me sample, after sample, after sample of pieces cut off from all kinds of flavors. I settled on the chocolate carmel truffle. It was superb and unforgettable. There was a rich, creamy texture while the whole thing felt rather sophisticated. Portland is lucky to have Missionary Chocolates.

I bought a box of these in a boutique store on M NW23rd, and I can say, with confidence, they are the most delicious truffles I’ve ever tasted. I’m not vegan, or particularly invested in where the ingredients to my candy is sourced(whatever, sorry), but I find that the taste and texture of these chocolates FAR surpass any of the other, bigger chocolate companies in town. Or anywhere really, these are just my favorite.

A lovely surprise. This was some of the best chocolate I have ever purchased, and the pieces may be cut in half if one is too large. Try them at the store. I do not recall if there is peanut oil used in them, so ask at the store.

BESTCHOCOLATEEVER. The owner is so sweet and nice and is great about letting you sample the flavors. My favorites were the lavender, raspberry, spicy cinnamon chipotle(it’s legitimately spicy!), and the simply espresso. These make great gifts but they are pretty spendy. The quality of the chocolate and the experience of visiting the store and sampling everything makes it worth it. Melt in your mouth, mmmmm

For those with a sweet tooth leaving Portland, they are usually armed with the iconic pink Voodoo Donuts. However, after stumbling upon Missionary Chocolate at a Farmers Market in downtown over the summer, it was quickly added to my «Portland Musts» list. I would sooner leave stocked with Missionary truffles rather than a Voodoo Donut. I was drawn to the Chipotle Cinnamon truffle and I purchased a duo that I savored in the weeks that followed the trip. The storefront is in a bit of a nondescript location and was staffed by a friendly girl that offered up samples of the truffle varietals. They are all pretty amazing in taste and tastefully simple in design and presentation. Love the packaging they come in. Great design! Fortunately for me, they offer online ordering so I don’t have to travel to Portland to indulge.

How have I never heard of this place before? Missionary Chocolates is a DELICIOUS experience! Moonstruck and Godiva pale in comparison, I’m hooked. The location is unexpected and very non-descript on the outside. But the moment you walk through the front door WOW!!! The smell of chocolate overwhelms the senses(in a good way) and there’s no way to not indulge in a few treats. The man working behind the counter was super nice. He understands what great customer service is all about. He offered us samples of pretty much every flavor and they were ALLAMAZING. My mom was here visiting from out of town and she bought $ 60 worth of truffles to take home for her closest friends. Yes, the truffles are that good! Meyer’s Lemon, Espresso, Lavender, Peppermint… I’ll be returning in a couple weeks to try their new seasonal flavor Peach Habenero, yum. Hard to believe these luscious treats are VEGAN… no milk? Again, WOW!

Chocolate. For some, it’s heaven. For others, it’s… heaven. I mean really, who doesn’t like chocolate? Or truffles for that matter? I get it, some truffles can be dense, and intense. But Missionary’s vegan truffles are anything but. The flavor is deep and rich but the truffles have a lightness to them that imparts said depth without overwhelming the palate and gumming your moth shut. I’d say they’re airy but that gives a wrong impression. But that’s the best word I can find in my vocabulary that gets to it. Not airy in a «these are hollow» kind of way, but light and full-of-flavor at the same time. I’ve had these truffles on quite a few occasions but was reminded today just how good they are. You can find them around town at various locations, or head to the shop. Either way, if you see them on display, buy one and put it in your mouth. Heavenly.
