Great mexican food for the Tigard. Meet expectations regularly. Good dip for chips. The only problem is that its next to a movie theather. Not mad at all the star wars outfits. In fact I am mad at my self for not being secure enough to dress up. I blame my dad for my insecurity Also fish tacos are pretty good

Tasty, warm, and great presentation! Ordered an authentic Mexican soup… was not disappointed. Killer margaritas! Will definitely come back again. Just a little bit difficult to get to if it’s your first time.

Every time I come here, I’m always happy. Although, their was one waiter who was rude and slow. However, I’ve been to Mazatlan about 3 times in the past month and my food is always good and I’m never disappointed with service. The chips and dips are always fresh. Love this place, Can’t wait to come back!

I enjoy a Mexican restaurant every once in awhile. Nothing bad to say about the food, very typical actually. I enjoyed the chips and dip(even guac) but i’m giving 3 stars because my water glass was not clean and there was stuff floating around in it. Gross.

Trusting the Mazatlan name in the Portland-metro area, we stopped in after a Costco trip. Let’s just say my margarita is rimmed with table salt and tastes like it came out of a jug. Our enchiladas were very bland and the beans were room temperature. I would avoid this restaurant if I was you!

For a Mexican food chain, this place is pretty darn good. Awesome food, fantastic service, best Mexican food I’ve found so far in the Portland area. I ordered their fish tacos on corn tortillas, YUM! So flavorful and fresh! My husband ordered the chimichanga and enchilada platter, he said it was delicious. Portion sizes were huge! We each had enough for lunch the next day. Our server was incredibly friendly and funny. Service was quick, drinks were good, overall, we will definitely be returning.

It’s way too easy to find Mexican food that’s much worse than this in Oregon. Mazatlán is a decent place to get decent American-Mexican staples. Meats, cheese, sauces and corn/flour tortillas(mostly flour, of course) rearranged in different combinations. Not very authentic to anything truly Mexican but tasty nonetheless. Chips and salsa are freely brought to the table which is, strangely enough, not standard practice in Oregon. An added bonus is the separate ‘cantina’ area. It’s a nice refuge from the loud and annoying family groups with unruly kids that seem to haunt the place. Service is okay and it’s a bit pricey for what it is but such is the Pacific Northwest. The further one gets from the Mexican border the further the quality, authenticity and value of Mexican food plummets. The truth hurts sometimes.(shrug)

Chips and salsa were great, food was pretty good, what you would really expect at this type of Mexican restaurant, service was friendly and helpful, and they are very willing to bend the menu to serve you what you want. I quite enjoyed it, and will be back!

My second time at Mazatlan, and I have to say, I do see more of it in my future. Salsa and chips, tasty, mild salsa with fresh warm chips, can’t get better than that. Ask for bean dip, wow, amazing! I had a chimichanga for the first time, and I loved it!

Quite a bit of pretty good food(tried the chicken enchiladas, super burrito, chips, salsa, bean dip). Prices are around $ 12 a plate and that is my second biggest complaint. The biggest complaint is the service. The refills on drinks and chips are sluggish if it’s not busy and nearly nonexistent if it is busy.

This restaurant has maybe the best salsa I’ve ever had! Like any other Mexican restaurant, they serve chips & salsa before you order, and i had to physically restrain myself from filling up on the awesome salsa. Its got a smoky flavor… trust me, its awesome. I ordered the Deluxe Burrito Manadero and it was very good and very large: enough for two small meals.

Craving authentic ämerican“mexican, so we stopped here on a rainy Portland night. First impression was that the place looks a little tired. I did like the bean dip that came with the chips, but the chips seemed a little stale? I ordered the carne asada tacos. Super disappointed when they came and it looked like the tacos were flour instead of corn and all that was inside was little chopped pieces of beef. No sauce, nothing. There was guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo on the side, but the tacos were sadly stark and dry. I noticed that there was a choice of beans with the dish, but we were not asked for our choice and received refried. I typically order black beans. My husband got a chicken enchilada and he liked it. Nice and cheesy. Just disappointing given my craving earlier in the evening.

Two stars for decent food. Not the most amazing food I have ever had — but decent, cheesy, standard Mexican/American food. That being said — the service here is atrocious. I didn’t write a review after my first time here, thinking«hey, maybe someone was having an off day, it totally happens, I’ll just let it go». Even though the wait time to get WATER was over 15 minutes. During no sort of rush period at all. Came back about two months later with a friend for a late lunch(arrived at maybe 12:45 pm). Seated promptly and given chips with beans and salsa. Water followed fairly quickly. The waitress then asked if we were ready. What with catching up with my friend and being seated less than 5 minutes before, I was unfortunately not. Both ordered iced tea. Another patron was seated in our section(this made a grand total of three people). We did not see another employee of the restaurant for another 30 minutes. Finally the woman who had been seated after us went INTO the kitchen to find someone(since there was absolutely no one anywhere to be seen). A waitress then hurried out to take our orders. No apology, no «oh wow, I’m so flustered!», nothing. A few seconds later, the ice tea came out. Food came very, very quickly, but the waitress disappeared again. Didn’t see her again until I had to find the waitress to get our check. Bottom line — if you have A LOT of time and you REALLY want mediocre Mexican, the food is alright. If you are hungry, anywhere else is better. I would even make the trip out to Si Señor in Beaverton for their service.

2nd try… FAIL You’d think with 6 people helping tables, someone would bring some water, or chips, or hot tortillas… or take our order. My boyfriend had to stand up and ask for these things three times before we were just ready to leave… then we got home and i felt not so good. I spent the better part of two days on the toilet. We won’t be back

Hitting this place up for lunch for the 4th week in a row and I am loving it, they have a sweet lunch menu with good food at low prices. I have enjoyed my chicken enchiladas and chicken quesadillas! You can bet I will be back next week!

I would give Mazatlan 6 damn stars for its history. In addition to better-than-good Mexican food, it have loyally served the St. Anthony’s community, and Tigard High sports communities for decades. It’s wonderful and friendly staff remain consistently rad, along with its prices, and its famous 2 for 1 combination coupon. Rep to OG Tigard grub.

Stopped for dinner last night on the way home from the airport(kind a traditional thing for us). Having said that, it is fairly obvious that we have eaten here before and it has always been pretty good. But last night… Maybe I should start with the good stuff, after all I did give it one star. Service was excellent. We were seated right away, server was polite and attentive. So, we started off on the right foot. Chips, salsa, and bean dip were there almost immediately, and were very good — no problem getting refills. Thus, the first star is complete and we were looking forward to dinner. Then disaster struck! We both ordered the Tortilla Soup. I love Tortilla Soup, even make it myself, which, by the way, is five stars! Anyway, who cares about me. Back to Mazatlan. The soup arrived and from the first spoonful it was terrible, not just bad, terrible. How should I describe it? It was as if they put a sprinkling of grilled chicken pieces in chicken stock, floated three slices of avocado on top, then tossed in some uncooked tortilla strips. I know there was cheese somewhere because it stuck to the spoon, but there was not enough to alter the taste of the high salt content of the chicken stock. And because they didn’t bake, fry, whatever, the tortilla strips, they were a soggy mess. I’m not sure I can say anything more about this mess they call Tortilla Soup, other than DONOT order it! You have been warned, so may the force be with you.

PROS: Happy Hour til 7:30, plenty of seating, Cantina was near empty; they have plasmas for watching sports, staff is friendly and attentive. CONS: Just your average«Americanized» Mexican food. Nothing superior by any means. $ 2.50 for a side of sour cream?! Lame. Overall nothing bad about this place. Plenty of menu items to choose from that’s for sure. I liked that they brought both mild & spicy salsa out. They also give you beans to dip your chips in. Chips were fresh and warm… as they could be anyways. Salsas were good. Ordered a combo meal that I could only eat about half of… came with a chicken enchilada, beef taco, and tostada. Both the beef and chicken were flavorful and not really greasy. This I can appreciate. HH only had food specials that I could see. What erked me a bit was that HH plasic signage was only displayed on top of the bar… and in small print. I didn’t even realize until after I placed my order. I was in the Cantina in a booth where no sign of HH was displayed. Guess I should have asked. Oh well, lesson learned. My combo meal is enough for 2 and it cost $ 11.50. Not terrible.
