Came here because of all the comments regarding the place being dog friendly. They have a large area outside in which dogs are allowed. The tables were filthy, with large numbers of unbussed plates, ketchup, etc. stuck to the table. In addition the dog area is next to the dirt parking lot, great view. No table service, a customer has to go inside to order from the bar. Cannot comment on the food, because we found the overall scene too depressing and left

Its a cool spot. Lots of patio space and spacious indoors. Beer is good but nothing to write home about. Worth a trip if you’re in the area but i wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

It’s not a bad bar, but if it weren’t for meetings I’d never come here. And frankly for that purpose it’s far too noisy(oh, Portland and your stupid love for high ceilings with exposed beams…). What LL has going for it is location. It’s prime, like, how long before someone sells the land prime. If there’s another bar this size anywhere else close in SE I haven’t heard of it. Beyond that, there’s no table service, the beers are definitely more about«craft» than drinkability(the Off Leash Pilsner is suspiciously hoppy) and the menu strongly suggests this place was started by McMenamin’s refugees. Oh, and there’s the dog thing. I’m not as much a dog person as most Portlanders(who were likely born somewhere else). It’s probably all the official county dangerous dog signs on my walk to elementary school. So I’d just as soon not be exposed to your ill-behaved reproduction substitute. They’re fortunately still confined to the patio, thank you Health Department. On the plus, there’s lots of actual chairs, the back bench has at least eight outlets behind it and the folks behind the counter are friendly. If they could be tempted onto the floor I’d probably give up that third star. Especially if they brought me something other than fermented hop juice.

This place is a staple! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, or the inside really, BUT it’s great. They have good food, awesome staff, and you can bring your dogs! In the back they have an outdoor patio that is covered(yay for Portland rain). Inside it’s kind of like a really huge barn, when it’s raining you can hear the rain, grab a beer, or a flight, and play some games that they have in the corner. They also have darts! The food is pretty dang good. They are very veggy friendly having almost the same amount of food items that have/exclude meat. Good selection of beers that rotate as well as some of their own. They also have some rotating ciders and wine. You can get a flight of either beer or cider or mix! Yum The bathrooms… are scary. Dirty, old, and out of place. Oh well. Oh and have I mentioned you can bring your dog?! They have water bowls, leash attachments on the tables, and other dogs for your pooch to play with.

A pooch friendly brewery with a workman-like charm and enough communal dining tables for a half dozen soccer teams, the Lucky Labrador doesn’t feel exactly vital, but it is a fair enough lunch respite on a hot Portland afternoon. The beers on tap are the expected IPAs, brown ales, and so on, but the Atlas Apple Session was a crisp, refreshing standout and an excellent accompaniment to the Northwest Pesto sandwich. The NP was a cheesy, pesto laden lovely – less so the garden variety(Lay’s?) chips which flanked it in the white and black checkered serving basket. The food appeared in minutes however and the beer’s arrival was immediate. The place is overall slightly standard in comparison to PDX’s more curious breweries, however. The most distinguishing features are the animal paintings and an inexplicable surfboard over one window. In sum, the LLBC is worth a look, overall, for just a quick bite, but nothing that will blow your socks off.

Good price and portion on food. Food quality fair. Beer selection average but not adventurous. Waitress(Christine) could be friendlier. Loved being able to take our dog. Music on patio too loud to converse.

The husband and I hit up this place last night. We chose Lucky Lab because we wanted to walk over after work with our Labradoodle and Jack Russell. It’s super nice that they have such a large covered patio — tons of seating inside and out. Since they’re so pro-dog on their patio, they have little hooks on the ends of some of the picnic tables to hookup your dog, plus they have water bowls scattered about. However, since they DO allow dogs, there is a lot of fur on the ground, which kind of blows around in the air if there’s a breeze o. I could totally see this being an issue for someone with a «fur phobia» or allergies. Just a heads up on that! The food was okay. I ordered the Mushroom Meltdown w/turkey, my husband ordered the Reuben, then we got a side order of the Rice and Spicy Peanut Curry sauce. All the food was okay, but nothing amazing. My sandwich felt really greasy — I enjoy greasy bar-food sometimes, but this was almost too much for me. I did not feel their Root Beer was worth ordering. It did not have that ‘Craft Root Beer’ flavor that I was hoping for — it ALMOST tasted like Pepsi… Another note, they do not have waiters doing circulation. If you want something, you have to go inside and order at the bar. This may not be a big deal to you, but it was kind of a downside for us.

I have been coming to this place for years and for some strange reason, it’s only now occurred to me to write them a Unilocal review. L.L. has the works: great beer(especially the Super Dog IPA — hoppiest, most bitter beers I’ve sampled), decent(slightly salty) food from their soups to their bread and hummus to their sandwiches, and lots of open space, giving it a Frank Lloyd Wrightesque feel. The numerous tables, while rickety, make for great game-playing sessions — just watch out for the youngsters running around. All in all, a great place in a great location with great venues.

A south east staple. I love coming here with my dog and seeing all the other cute pups! It’s super casual and I love the décor — so many dogs on the walls! The outdoor area is covered and you can’t bring your dog inside. Great in the summer and then in the winter they have heat lamps. Inside is very spacious. You can play board games, have large groups, whatever. Food is good! They updated their menu fairly recently. I love the pesto melt. You have to order at the bar. They have their own brewery= lots of beer. But. NOLIQUOR! Boo!

I’ve visited Lucky Labrador on my two most recent visits to Portland. I have an admittedly upfront bias and opinion on this place because I have a very special place in my heart for labs. The bar is rather large. It has a sizable patio where dogs are welcome. A lot of different groups appear to enjoy this place together: groups of board gamers, chess players, trivia teams, friends chatting and enjoying the beer and food, friends with dogs, and more. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed the Rose Garden panini. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options at this brewery, and my panini was fairly good. I’ve tried two different pale ales, with my favorite being the most recent. I like the brewery’s story about using natural energy to brew, and I like their association with cycling. Again, full disclosure, I purchased and proudly sport a cycling jersey in Texas! There are walls of patron photos of their dogs and wearing Lucky Labrador gear. I continue to get the vibe of a welcoming open atmosphere, good beer and food selection, and relaxed, fun vibe. I will continue to visit Lucky Labrador on future trips to PDX.

Overall, Lucky Lab is «OK.» The beer isn’t bad, but it’s not great. The food isn’t out of this world, but the pricing reflects that(aside from $ 4.95 for chips and salsa — are you serious?!). The interior décor is interesting, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say I like it. They have a few board games, but again, nothing that really stands out. This isn’t a place that I’d go out of my way to go to, but it’s not terrible.

Tons of seating and a patio out back make this a great local gathering place. Several well crafted beers on tap — I enjoyed a pint of ESB for 4.95. Didn’t try the food offerings but the beer was great!

Went there with our two dogs and daughter. Great location and loved the fact that we can bring dogs. Unfortunately, there isn’t a kids menu, no pizza, and completely lacked on the small dish options. No shredded cheese for chips. Bartender was to cool to perform her job. Kinda rude to my boyfriend when he asked for an IPA. Said, «we have the black dog IPA and some other one». Ladies toilet was clogged and the other was continually running.

Don’t get me wrong, lucky lab has some awesome beer(why they get 2 stars and not 1). But I came here for lunch today, thinking I could get a decent salad and work for a bit before my next appointment… And I won’t make that mistake again. The staff was super grouchy! It’s Friday… Lighten up! :) I ordered a Cesar salad with chicken. The salad was fine, boring but fine… But the chicken was hard as a rock, over cooked and marinated in teriyaki! Wtf. Cesar salad and teriyaki do NOT go together. Oh, and the few chunks of crappy chicken were an extra $ 4… I won’t be back here.

I have lived in Portland my whole life, I remember when Bridgeport, and Portland Brewing were new, and I visited the Lucky Lab on it’s opening weekend. I really like this place. It harken back to when there were only 250K people in town, and the beer styles, we’re either German or British, it’s stayed true to its origins, and is still one of my favorite microbreweries in Portland. Yes the toilets stink, the food is limited, but generous, and the beer is honest. Service is kind of variable, better than CRB, not as good as Baerlic, the surrounding are passable, not as nice as exnovo, much nicer than The Commons. Mostly they make what are now traditional Portland beers. Oh the Sabwiches are flat out awesome.

Great place, great beers! I like variety so I got a flight(of 6) beers. The nice thing is that you can order anything you want so the beers that were more expensive like the cask and(guest) barleywine ales were up for sampling. Look like about 4 oz glasses if my eyes are calibrated. I also got a Reuben sandwich… top notch! The inside is simple and open. The guy behind the bar was of little help to my wife who was trying to decide what to order because(as he made clear) he was a vegetarian(congrats to you) so she had to result to questions like«what do people that eat meat prefer between these two options…». Sheesh.

Smelled bad. Mens restroom smelled like an uncleaned campground bathroom in mid-August. During a heatwave. Rank. Out-dated décor(and everything else). The girl working seemed unenthused for obvious reasons. Just… bad vibes overall, bro.

Ahhh Lucky Lab… and lucky me! Update 5÷14÷16: While this review still stands, I think I would downgrade it to 2 – 3 stars at best. Their menu has improved, good bento options especially for veggies like myself. Great value food, but things like«Bread and Hummus» need a boost with some veggies. I’d gladly pay a couple bucks more. Bathrooms are gross, with mold and in need of a deep clean. The outdoor patio is nice, but late at night seems to be stoners smoking away and being loud. Still a great place and retains its 90’s charms, but it needs some updating, heavy cleaning, and some better service training. Too many surly types! There’s something really comfortable about walking in here. When Portland pubs first got going in the 90’s they were sort of outlaws. They took over old warehouse buildings, put in some rickety tables and chairs, made awesome beers, some great pub grub, and kept if cool and simple. Ahhh the days before the«Pearl District», my arch frenemy! Leave it to the Lucky Lab to leave it alone the way it should be. You walk into a great big room full of tables that rattle on the original wooden flooring, meander past cool hip folk playing Risk, and a couple dudes discussing Battle Star Galactica, and make your way up to the enormous copper hued bar. A chalkboard listing the brews is all you need. A taste of anything is at the ready from affable bearded barmen, and a proper 20oz imperial pint awaits you. Food here is pretty good, standard soup and sandwich items, snacks, and the ubiquitous hummus bowl keeps the alcoholic suds from racing to your rather flushed face too quickly. I’ve had the veggie sandwich several times. Nice, fresh veggies and cream cheese. Not the best offering, but the only real veggie option besides snacks. Beers here are impressively good, and are far too underrated. Their selection of IPA’s are some of the best in Stumptown, and they do nice seasonal ales, and some lighter lagers as well. The Superdog IPA has long been a favorite of mine. The Lucky Lab is a staple of SE Portland, and although they’ve greatly expanded and added locations, they continue to do what they’ve always done best. Make a great variety of beers, offer a few goodies to snack on, and give the people what they want. A great place to meet with friends, have a few laughs, get into a serious Kafka discussion, and knock out a few board games. Couldn’t be any sweeter than that. Oh… and in case it wasn’t too subtle, you can bring your dog too!

So, In case you haven’t noticed Portland is a DOG town and I don’t mean the«Fashion Donts» that are walking among us. heheh jk. NO I mean the 4 legged Dogs. Well, This place has it all and a bag a chips literally Girls with Pit Bulls dogs Dudes with Small buttercup dogs Kids petting Dogs Nice people with Rescue Dogs People struggling with untrained Dogs Furry dogs Short hair Rat Terrier Dogs(my dog) Dogs with«Thunder Shirts» on Young Dogs AKA Puppy Dogs And in the middle of all this RUFF stuff there is pretty tasty Local Beer, Sandwiches and Chicken Bento. By no means is this the best dog friendly spot in Portland, but it’s one of the first places to welcome dogs in Portland. So to that I say, Thank You and I will continue to support Lucky Lab and their welcoming patio. yes with H20 for your Doggie.
