I ordered the Koi Burrtio add chicken and kimchi. Burrito was priced at $ 8.50, another .50 cents for the Kimchi add-on, which is reasonably priced. With tip you’re looking about $ 10 dollars for a item. I was enticed, to try something different than you’re ordinary burrito. However, the burrito was not satisfying. Ingredients we’re cold in the center, and it literally was all bean sprouts and rice, very little chicken or kimchi. Chicken quality was awful, also appeared to be thawed in the microwave. I’m not sure if I would try this particular location again. Maybe I ordered the wrong item, but I expect my food to be adequately cooked, proportionate and of quality. Koi did not meet my expectations.

11Nov15 @ 11:30am. Not busy. Good service. Koi burrito and cheesesteak. Burrito was big and heavy. Good flavor. Cheesesteak was good but the bun wasn’t up to the task. Medium hot spice wasn’t very spicy. Would go back.

In my opinion, food is generally better when it is warm. Salsa is generally better when it is not just onion water. This place has a ton of potential because my cold tofu tacos were actually really tasty. But, imagine if they were hot. They would be the best thing ever.

Bit of a wait bc they were slammed with orders, but so so worth it. I ordered the kalbi and bulgogi tacos. Smoky seasoned morsels of meat topped with fresh crunchy pickled veg and bean sprouts, wrapped in a thin tortilla. You can definitely demolish two of these without a thought. Side note: The printer at base camp brewery malfunctioned, resulting in my order not being conveyed to the chefs at KOI, and when I asked about the order they were kind enough to throw in an extra taco for the wait. Very considerate service here!

3.7 first visit. Short rib burrito was cooked fast — just enough time to grab a pint from base camp, which i needed because i chose hot for the sauce. The heat died down quickly but pints are required. Filled this guy up and felt hardy doing it.

The food is delicious but the customer service is lacking. The staff has been rude and has messed up my order the last few times I’ve gone(I know I’m not the only one with this experience). If they hired new staff I would be there all the time since it’s two blocks from my building.

The cheesesteak is good but is best eaten with a fork. I probably would try something else. The chips though, wow, some of the best chips I’ve ever had.

A must-try for Portlanders and food truck fanatics. Koi Fusion has revamped its menu since the last time I visited, which was about a year ago. Luckily, they’ve still kept my favorite items on the menu; the kimchi quesadilla, and the kalbi tacos. If you even remotely like kimchi, I would say the quesadilla is a must-order. The kimchi has just the right amount of kick, and it compliments the melted cheese really well. It comes with cilantro sour cream dipping sauce that really just brings everything together. The kalbi tacos are what you’d probably expect, except with cilantro and sprouts to give it sort of an Asian twist. It’s really good, and you can get it with other meats if you want. They’ve added new items as well; the one I tried was the Korean cheese steak. I actually don’t remember much about it, besides that it was freaking good, lol. I do remember it being really heavy and cheesy, in the best way possible. I think the photo does it a certain amount of justice. I’d highly recommend trying it. The only reason I give it four out of five is because it’s still struggling with consistency; there have been times I’ve gone where it’s just been closed despite their stated hours, and times where certain menu items weren’t available even early in the day. Other than that, this is, in my opinion, a perfect food truck.

Portlanders are spoiled. Too many amazing affordable food options that are just so damn good. I keep reading subpar reviews that nitpick this or that. Folks, you better not leave this city because you WILL be disappointed. This food cart serves up the best burritos ever. The cool chick working was nice enough to prepare a mixed chicken and beef bulgogi burrito since they were closing. Holy Fballs. Sure beats any burrito i’ve ever had. The thing is huge also. If you think it’s too big to finish in one sitting. Think again. You will keep eating until there is no more because it is THATGOOD.

I’ve always loved Koi Fusion food, at least until I became disappointed enough to the point to leave my first Unilocal review. My complaint is simple: Please mix your ingredients before putting it in the burrito. This is the second time I’ve bitten into a burrito only to come back with a mouth full of lettuce and tortilla. HALF of the burrito was full of this lettuce slaw, and I was close to wondering if they even included the short rib or any other ingredients at all until I started to see a couple grains of rice below all the vegetation. Not only was this frustrating to eat, but it also clued me in to how much lettuce was used to over stuff the burrito and give the appearance of being a much larger and heftier ingredient-stuffed burrito than what I was getting. By the time I actually got to the meat, it was in a cold, soupy corner pocket along with hints of the other ingredients(rice/cheese) that I would assume would be more primary ingredients rather than just the afterthoughts that they were. This picture I’ve included should explain everything, and if the message still isn’t clear, please read this:

I ate their Korean Reuben yesterday and I’m still salivating a little just thinking about it. Bulgogi, kimchi sauerkraut, melty swiss cheese, corned beef, and a spicy mayo spill out the sides of the rye bread. It’s a messy pile of delicious that either requires multiple napkins or some Parisian level of competence with utensils that I definitely don’t possess. At $ 8, this sandwich is worth every penny. Medium spicy was perfect for me. Probably something like 7⁄10 on the spicy/not continuum. Over the past four years, I’ve sampled the short rib burrito and all the tacos. When I got off the vegetarian train, KOi Fusion was one of my first stops. Their tofu/veggie option doesn’t do anything for me(minus one star). But their bulgogi? Damn, son.

The tofu rice bowl was meh. I asked for it mild and it was hot enough to make my face sweat and my nose run.

Loved the Ruben, kinda hard to eat if you’re a slow eater and the bread gets soggy, but with a fork it’s an easy job. Great fresh tacos and the sliders are awesome too.

I tell you what. I feel bad for whatever food carts set up shop next to Koi Fusion. Why? Because I will never, ever eat there. Why would I, when I could instead have a short rib burrito from Koi? This burrito wins every time. This burrito wins at life. Kimchi fried rice with your choice of tofu or meat(I always get the short rib because duh) and shredded veggies, all wrapped up in a tortilla. I get it medium and add some sour cream. And then I eat. and eat. and eat. And I am happy. Rumor has it they have other menu items like tacos, sliders and rice bowls, but I wouldn’t know anything about that. The people inside have always been super friendly, and they’ll bring their food to you if you’re hanging out inside Base Camp Brewing, another one of my neighborhood favorites. I couldn’t be happier for this combo. Check it out.

The outdoor eating area is nice and unique. The tables and places to sit are made from tree trunks. You are also allowed to eat inside at the adjacent brewery. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were very good for the amount of food that you receive. That being said, I was a little disappointed in my food. I ordered the Koi Rice Bowl with bulgogi beef. The lady asked how spicy I wanted it, so I said hot. I love spicy food! One of the aspects of the dish that excited me was the kimchi fried rice. As I started to eat, I didn’t find my dish to be spicy at all. I went up to order a side of kimchi, but was told they just ran out. What? Three of the five dishes have kimchi in them. I dug down to the rice layer of my bowl and found that I had plain rice instead of kimchi fried rice. That was pretty disappointing. I did enjoy the beef, vegetables and salsa. My husband had the sliders with bulgogi beef. The order consisted of 3 pretty good side sliders. He thought the bulgogi tasted too sweet, but I didn’t find any problems with the bite of a slider that I had. I thought the food was good, but not amazing. Maybe it would’ve been if my kimchi fried rice had some kimchi in it. It was still an enjoyable experience and I would recommend this food truck to others.

Love me some kimchi, and Mexican food is #1 for me. So in concept, this place is right in my wheelhouse. Good food and service, but I wish there was an option for vegetarian kimchi. Sadly, without that I doubt I’ll hurry back there.

I am officially hooked on the short rib burrito. Gave the other options a fair shot(I work nearby) but keep coming back to it. perfect balance of flavors and textures. Plus theres a nice outside seating area that the brewery shares with them.

Got the Korean Cheesesteak, their new special, and it was tasty. It had a traditional cheesesteak flavor, with hints of Korean tastes(kimchi, sauce). About $ 8 made to order; not my favorite dish in Portland, but still very substantial and delicious. I was on foot, so this felt like a really isolated location, but it was next to a brewery and another food truck, definitely worth checking out.

Biggity Bomb — Go get yourself a Philly cheese steak and you won’t be disappointed. You might be thinking: «Philly cheese steak from an Asian food cart?, but why?» Because your a big kid and you can handle fusion food. Stop questioning and start grubbin’

I chose three Koi Tacos, each with different meats. I’m still not sure which ones were which, but I got the Bugogi Beef, Chicken, and a Short Rib. Whatever meat was shredded, was my favorite. I think it was the bulgogi? Chicken was my next favorite– I’m a big fan of chicken. Also sweet good texture. I believe Short rib was the one with strips? All the meats were sweet with a little but of spicy. Caramelized onions to sweeten but awesome taste concept. So much going on in my mouth. I Tasted meats on their own before eating the whole taco to find my favorite meat, but once they’re in the tacos, the sweetness makes them all taste the same. Maybe I’m wrong, but each meat was cooked to taste the same. It’s not like Chipotle where depending on the meat you’ll also get a different taste. At Koi, you pick your texture, and get the same taste. I’d really love to have different flavors to try out!
