Since when did KMart get so expensive on some items? I stopped to look at their selection of appliances, that was a mistake since they barely had any. I thought that some they were a part of Sears that they would have a selection. They didn’t even have a sales associate if I had wanted something. Nope! So I did need a small notebook to write in, but they wanted almost $ 4, so I stuck with the .99 one. They also need some renovations to the inside and out. But that may drive up their prices even more! Who knows! It reminded me of why I very rarely go to kmart anymore.

If you can get past the fact that the building is stuck in the 1970/1980s(looks totally depressing) this place has some great deals. When I happen to be I the area, I stop here to get stuff for my bathroom, kitchen and laundry(soaps, detergent, etc.) They also have a decent bedding section here(pillows, comforters, sheets, etc) with lots of color and style choices. And, the quality of the bedding stuff is actually very good. The bedroom items I’ve bought here have lasted a long time with no problems. In the summer they have a lawn and garden section. The parking lot us huge! Parking is never a problem here. In fact, they have a couple of huge shade trees that are nice to park under in the summertime.

I wish zero stars were an option! I placed an order online for my daughters bicycle. I added an authorized third party to pick up my order. Confirmation was sent to my third party person and his name was included in my personal email confirmation. He drives an hour to pick up the order and is denied! According to the store, I didn’t authorize a third party. The clerk agrees to call me for confirmation. I never receive a call, but they turn my person away saying I didn’t answer. I call the following day to speak to a manager. The manager assures me it won’t happen again. She says she had handwritten his name on the order. The third party drives an hour back a few days later and is denied AGAIN! This time he calls me himself and asks me to call the store directly while he stands there. I express my frustration and tell the manager that I had already spoken to a manager. Her response… «Well, you didn’t speak to me.» Should it matter which manager I speak to?! After 4 hours of driving, 2 phone calls and lots of frustration, the bike is on its way home. And I will never shop at Kmart again. AWFULSERVICE!

They will give you so many coupons that you will never be able to use. Restrictions, dates and are you ready for this? Today I was told that their computers are not working so I can’t use my points. The computer worked fine for taking your money by the way. The cashier actually looked pleased that I just gave up and paid. Well, don’t be happy because your customer service is horrible and you will not have a job and other department stores will not hire you because you are just that bad. The sales associates are so dumb here. They have no idea. Even if you have a coupon for tons of free stuff, run the other way because it’s a lie.

This place is ghetto as ghetto can be. Very unstructured, very unorganized, and very dirty. I came here to pick up a gift that was pre ordered and pre paid for by my mother in-law. She tells me to come to this location to pick it up because it’s ready. I get here and they tell me that the product is out of stock. SERIOUSLY??? How was the order confirmed with a confirmation number but no product??? Wow!!!

Store looked like it was ravaged for the zombie apocalypse. Things were dirty and halfway packed in some areas. Wouldn’t be my store of choice, but had to return some presents and use the giftcard we got from the exchange. Don’t think I’ll be going back.

KMart appears to be deserting Portland as a viable market. Stores in Tualatin and Milwaukie are closed. It’s probably only a matter of time until this store closes. Then again, this area is far from any other«big box» so maybe this store is more profitable than I’d believe. The nearest other discounters are probably the Mall 205 or Fairview Target stores or the Gateway or Wood Village Fred Meyer stores. This store can be busy at times. After seeing the photos posted and the mention of the store being like a «big» BigLots, that’s about right. I think I remember why KMart feels so dated now — their stores have never improved lighting(ie. added skylights or at least changed around the fluorescents to a more modern style) and merchandise has gone down with the loss of Martha Stewart Everyday and homogenization of apparel with Sears(don’t forget though, KMart was the one that bought Sears, not the other way around). If I was in this area and needed something on an ‘emergency’ like sunblock or a swim suit, I might stop in. Otherwise, their over the counter drugs are priced higher than Target and the store itself is generally unpleasant for shopping.

There’s a reason why they used to be BIG back then, and it was a toss up between the one-stop shopping store to the 5& dime stores of the 70’s &80’s. We were there when they had a Grand Opening @ this location! It was like the ONLY place where we did our variety shopping ‘trip get-away’ with the boys, for toys and plastic go-carts and if they were good, a ride on the mini merry go round. After the boys moved out of the house, I remodeled their bedroom to my sewing /guest room, but now the youngest son is back home for awhile. His wife of 5 years decided to divorce him, and yes, she had been planning to do that for 5 years! From Arizona, drove back home to Portland in 2 days, just like that! Now, I have to re-arrange my guest room to please him, because the ‘futon’ bed as he calls it was hurting his back. I wanted that room to be bright & airy, so out the old venetian Bali blinds and in with the new ‘elegant more feminine’ drapes, with new paint. .. . but he didn’t want the bright & airy look, so he kept the ceiling lights on everyday & night, so he could see what’s he’s doing inside. Decided to put the Bali blinds back on, but hubby have forgotten where he had put them or were they given to Goodwill? I called all the stores, including hardware stores in town, the 1st @ JC Penney, found exactly what I wanted for the right price, and was ready to drive 7.7 miles to pick them up, but they didn’t come in the size I wanted, I have to order them, but I want them TODAY! I have called up about 12 other stores, and the price just keeps getting higher & higher or they don’t carry blinds! The last I called was Sears about $ 345 more but I need them for 4 windows! This is just temporary, until I get my old ‘room’ back when he moves out. .. . KMart was the closest to us. I just didn’t really want to buy them there, so I hanged up and called Target instead! Wrong move. They have zilch! I dialed Kmart again, apologized that I got ‘disconnected’, and I know I waited too long, but the good news was they have them in stock, and the price? $ 3.99 each, and for 4 windows in the colors & size I NEED? «I’m coming over right now, can you hold them for me?» Those were the same Bali blinds we had before the remodel. How about that and the price was just perfect! My gosh, how lucky am I? Oh, btw: They have the same Bali blinds one was for $ 12.99 and the other was $ 3.99. When hubby went to pick them up, he couldn’t tell the difference why the other was higher, so he picked the one with the lower price, less than a gallon of gas each.

My Kmart haiku: sad, sad, place aisles in disarray go to Target instead
