Kara Stokes Photography

Kara took newborn pictures of my son when he was 1 week old at my home. She is so nice to work with and truly talented. She did portraits of him alone as well as him with myself and his dad. They are phenomenal!
My son is now 18 months old and I look at these pictures and appreciate the small details she took the time to capture (the tiny ears, the small fuzzy swirl of hair just starting) These photos are already some of my most treasured and beautifully document a happy but busy time that any parent can tell you flies by too fast.

On a rainy November afternoon, Kara came over to take photos of our new puppy. At the wee age of 10 weeks, our pup was timid and spent the first part of the day hiding under our couch, creating what could have been a pretty awkward and frustrating situation for any photographer. Without any hesitation, Kara got down on our hardwood floors, flat on her stomach, and started shooting from there. I was amazed at how she was willing to do anything it took to get shots she felt proud of and we loved.
A dog person herself, Kara was great with our puppy and it was her easy going attitude and positive energy that got Lulu to feel more comfortable. We went on a walk around our neighborhood and Kara captured all that amazing puppy cuteness that I thought was going to be impossible to translate into photos. Kara was creative with ideas and helped me coax Lulu into great «poses» on a park bench, at the top of our stairs, and relaxed on the sidewalk amidst the leaves. It was such a fun day and I could tell Kara enjoyed it too – this girl loves photography, no matter what.
Kara made the impossible possible. We now have eternal documentation of a time that flew by. Having her take photos of our little Lulu was such a great decision and I hope other people seek her out for their own precious furry friends, babies, or events in their lives!

Before Jesse and I were engaged, I’d seem some of Kara’s photos and knew she was the girl to talk to whenever we needed any photos taken. She takes great photos, and more importantly, is a very delightful person. Upon getting engaged, we knew Kara would be the photographer for our wedding. We were so thrilled we decided to have her at our wedding! She did a great job of blending into the background and documenting our event without being obtrusive.
The portraits from our wedding were my favorite photos-​some of just my husband and I, some of us with our families, and us with our wedding party. They turned out really fun (and some included our dog!) and really captured the fun we were having with our wedding, and the fun our guests had as well.
