My best friend is getting married soon, and I was given the honor of being the Best Man. He chose a suit that made me say «what»?! Lol… A «Slim Cut» on a guy my size?!
Based on the reviews I had read here, I was apprehensive about even entering this store. The reviews are so pitiful that I was afraid I’d get crappy service, topped with major attitude.
Not the case at all, I was greeted by a very knowledgeable woman named Michelle. She gently guided through their entire selection of suits in the color that my friend has chosen. My apprehension soon disappeared when she fitted me with a suit that I never thought in a million years would look good on me! I’m a big guy. Finding clothing I feel and look good in is hard. She nailed it, and fast!
I thought the process would be difficult, but she knew exactly what to do, and how to do it. I felt better than I have in a long time, and my self esteem was sky-​high. I’m getting married in October, and we’re definitely using them for our wedding. Thank you, Michelle! You really made my experience awesome!!!

The first time I came into this store, I gave it just one star because I was incredibly frustrated watching my husband argue with one of the salesmen. I mean, come on, if you’re in sales, you never argue with the customer. So, we decided to go back and give them one more try because my husband needed a tuxedo for an event, and I have to tell you, living in Portland, the choices are slim to none when you’re looking for good fashion apparel. However, we ended up here and the lady that is responsible for saving this review is Jeanette. I really enjoyed her very much and she went above and beyond to correct the wrongs that she had seen were made toward us on our first trip into the store. In my opinion, this woman should run the store as I don’t know who the manager is. We got my husband fitted for a tuxedo, and this is where I have to call out the second lady, her name is Larisa. Larisa is the seamstress that handles all the alterations. She is very good at what she does and I was so grateful to have her placed in our path! I liked her so much that when my dress that I had purchased for New Year’s Eve showed up and needed to be altered, I trusted her and took my dress to her for her to make the alterations. She did an amazing job! Not only on my husband’s outfit, but also on mine! She also had the eye to catch something else that was wrong with the dress that had nothing to do with the alteration and for that I was very grateful! It makes me very happy when people pay attention to detail! Give the store a try, but only work with Jeanette in the front or else you will be very disappointed.

Suits for a Wedding Party; Such a Joke
I am one of five groomsman of a wedding party who are getting suits from Joseph A Bank — most of us have been dealing with the location at Washington Square in Beaverton, OR. One Michelle Richards has claimed to be «in charge» of this. The groom was kind enough to pay for this in total, however I feel he has made a poor investment.
I will only be speaking for myself, as hopefully other members of the party will have the time and energy to voice their experience because not one person from the party has had a good experience.
From the very start, communication among the store has been atrocious. I called in with my measurements and was told I would receive a phone call to get the process started. After calling in three times over the course of three weeks, I decided to go into the store to. After getting passed between three different associates, I was finally helped and has my measurements taken (although they were already taken over the phone). I made a couple minor, but specific requests on the sizing of the suit.
I was then told I would receive a phone call within the next two weeks, at which point I could come in to pick up the suit. After nearly a month and three calls to the store (with no return call) I finally received a voice mail stating that my suit had arrived. I had assumed I was good to pick up the suit and be done with this place, but of course I was very wrong. The suit had not been altered at all, and we were back to square one. I patiently got fitted yet again, and made the same request of the suit — to have a straight fit on the pants.
Three more weeks go by and I finally receive another voice mail informing that the suit was ready for pickup. Upon entering the store I notify the store associate that I needed to pick up a suit and handed over my card. It came as a surprise to the associate that not only did I want to try on the suit, but that I also wanted to try it on with dress shoes and a dress shirt (as I was wearing casual clothes). When I finally got the suit on, I couldn’t help but laugh when I noticed that not only were the pants were too long and very baggy, but one sleeve of the jacket was a solid inch longer than the other.
Now I am not one to get worked up too easily as I have always worked in some sort of customer service/​relations position, but this has just been such a joke. I can honestly say that I had never shopped at a Joseph A Bank in the past and I was looking forward to feeling out the place. But after this I know that I will never shop here in the future, and nor will I ever recommend the place to anyone.

HORRIBLE SERVICE at this Jos. Banks at Washington Square. I am a long time and loyal customer of Jos. Banks. I recently moved from Pasadena, where the customer service is incredible. In the past month, I have had two terrible customer service experiences at this store.
The first was a woman clerk who argued with me about whether or not Jos. Banks carried overcoats online or in the store in my size. I showed her them on my iPad and she said that their website was wrong. She was belittling and arrogant. I went home and ordered the overcoat online and received it within a week. The clerk was ignorant and provided poor service.
Today, I went to return several ties that I had received as presents. A different woman clerk first ignored me and then proceeded to question who had purchased the ties for me and needed proof. Since I did not have any receipts, I understand why the return amount was so low. Unfortunately, the clerk was rude and demeaning and unhelpful. I kept the ties and re gift them rather than dealing with poor customer service. Additionally, I had to listen to another clerk complain that the show Grimm buys large amounts of clothes and then returns them and it impacts her somehow. Totally inappropriate discussion in front of a customer.
If anyone from Jos. Banks review my comments, I would like to know if there are any plans to upgrade the customer service standards at this location. This store is an embarrassment to the entire Jos. Banks network. Thanks.

It appears that the bad reviews on this site are for tuxedo rentals. I can’t speak to that, but my experience with buying clothes at Jos. A. Bank has been great. For decades Nordstrom was my go-​to choice for clothes. But over the past 6 – 8 years it seems like Nordstrom’s quality has gone down, and they’ve abandoned some of their more classic clothing. My biggest turn-​off with Nordstrom was that they appear to have changed the material used in their no-​iron shirts and they just don’t hold up like they used to. Then I discovered Jos. A. Bank — their quality seems to be a little lower than the «old» Nordstrom, but equal or better than most of the Nordstrom clothes I’ve bought in the past 5 – 6 years. The service at Jos A Bank has been good. They also have some ridiculously good sales from time to time. I just bought a few lambswool sweaters that are of an equivalent quality that I would have paid $ 70-​$ 100 for at Nordstrom, and got them on a great sale for $ 20.

Too busy for business, apparently.
Just stood in this Jos. A Bank location for almost 20 minutes waiting to get a quick measurement. Staff was walking back and forth frantically, avoiding eye contact. Finally walked up to one who was folding clothes and said something like «how are you?» Her response: «I’m soooo busy.» Told her I needed a measure and she kind of huffed a «give me a couple of minutes.»
Then another customer walked in the front door and asks where something is, and she stops folding and walks him to the other side of the store. I wait for another minute but when another staff walked by and totally ignored my efforts to get her attention, decided it was time to go.
Maybe the other TWO customers in the store were just really demanding?

Stoooooopid expensive. Paid $ 203 for my husband to be in a wedding of friends we hardly know. I have never laughed so much in front of a store employee, but when she told us what we were paying for a summer groomsmen outfit (no jackets) I was dying. My husband even joked asking if the quality is beyond amazing. Her answer was «well, we rent the same clothes to hundreds of people a year.» Bahahaha! Well, we’ll see how it goes. Glad our new credit card just came in the mail yesterday. Fml. There are other places to get rental clothes that, by the looks of others reviews, are probably just as good, but cost less.

I see a lot of customers leaving bad reviews for this place. I’m not sure about their experience, but mine was the best I could hope for. I bought a suit from a Jos A Bank two months ago 2700 miles away. yesterday my suit was ripped at an unfortunate accident at work and I took it up to this Jos A Bank. Not only are they sending my suit to try to get fixed, but if it is not fixable they are replacing it with a new suit, no charge to me for anything. That is the best customer service one can get.
I was helped by Michelle and Aaron. Both were super friendly and helpful. If your not happy when you go in there, ask for one of them and I bet your opinion changes!

This is the crappiest, most dysfunctional business I’ve ever come across. Take your business elsewhere. They WILL f*** up your wedding. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

We got a «great deal» buy one get three free for suits. We do love the suit the fiancé will wear to the wedding. However, the other suits we ordered took over a month to be delivered to us. I think they were only prompted to be delivered after my fiancé called. After purchasing the one suit for about $ 900, we saw some suits at Macy’s for $ 250. Maybe we should have gone that route.

Similar to the other reviewer my husband, who is the best man in a friend’s wedding out of town, had to go to Jos A Bank to get measured and order his wedding suit; and again our experience has been below par at best.
We also had a problem with measurements taken by the regional manager or store manager Allen. He incorrectly measured my husband and when the suit came in, I picked it up from the store because my husband was out of town. After trying it on at home we realized there was a BIG MISTAKE. The jacket sleeves were about 4 inches too short and the pants looked like an 80’s «MC. Hammer pants» flashback… After realizing this error we talked to the store, and after some finagling they told us to bring it in and they would take a look.
Upon arriving at the store, which by the way always takes forever, we waited the customary 20+ minutes just to talk to someone, (but I note that poor staffing is not the fault of the employees but another management oversight). The taylor and the salesmen immediately spotted the problem. The fix, an entirely new suit had to be ordered.
Fast forward a few weeks, the new suit arrives HOWEVER this suit was as large as a tent. My husband was told that there was little they could do about the suit., the jacket would need to be hemmed up and the pants were too tight but too wide and long. We were told these alterations could be done but the cost would be more than twice the amount paid for the suit, please note that we already paid for alterations on the first erroneously measured suit. And I get that not every suit is right for everybody, but how can these two orders be so horribly wrong. (sidebar, my husband is 5’9 with a ³¹⁄₃₂ inch waist, hard to imagine that is an impossible fit). Anyway, after nearly 90 minutes, they store agreed to give us back the original, short jacket and hammer pants suit; «JUST THIS ONE TIME». So just this one time they agreed to give us back the lesser of two horrible fitting suits that we already paid for. ok… gee thanks???
Anyway to get the new suit to below the forearm level we were told we would have to again pay for alterations and that there was nothing they could do about the «hammer» pants. We were told that after 5 separate trips and countless hours wasted at Jos A Bank the store did all they could. Apparently this is customer services at it finest.
For anyone thinking about Jos A Bank, don’t waste your time, for a great suit go to Nordstrom’s or even Men’s Warehouse, for wedding attire even Men’s Warehouse or Mr. Formal has better customer service than Jos A Bank. Waste of time, money and energy. Hopefully this will save someone else the hassle.

My brother recently got married and choose to go through Jos. A. Bank for tuxedo rental. They were a disaster from the get go. Let me list the things that went wrong.
*The original person that took my brother’s order (I believe in Lynnwood, WA) misspelled his name making it nearly impossible to look up the order when all the other groomsmen wanted to get fitted.
*I live five hours away from the nearest location (this one) so I had myself measured locally and called in my measurements. The employee that «helped» me argued with me and told me that my measurements could not be right because my chest wasn’t six inches bigger than my waist. He informed me that I would have to come in to get measured.
*I happened to have to be in Portland for a different wedding earlier in the summer so I went in to get measured. He measured my waist and I told him that he measured it too big and loose but he informed me that is how you do it. He then just subtracted six inches to get my waist size.
*When I went to make payment on this order the computer in the store was not set up to take any sort of credit card or debit card payment. At first he said my debit card was declined and then when I said it was impossible he clarified that he meant for some reason he couldn’t even run my credit card.
*My brother picked up all the tuxes and brought them to the venue. When I was able to try it on I noticed that the clip for the tie was very visible in the front. They measured my neck, it seems like they could accommodate for this.
*The jacket was too big as I assumed it would be.
*The crotch of the pants came down to mid quad, and when I tried to pull them up so that it would hit in a reasonable place the pants became too short.
*All of the tuxes didn’t match. One groomsman had a full collar when the rest of us had tuxedo collars. Another groomsman had a jacket that was cut differently.
There were other problems with picking up the order and other people getting measured, but I wasn’t around for these issues so I won’t comment on them. Avoid Jos. A. Bank for your tuxedo rental needs. They are not worth the time or money. Overall I felt I was treated rudely and they couldn’t accomplish simple tasks like making sure the tuxedos matched.
