After joining Unilocal recently I was encouraged to try a few businesses close to my residence. Jet Video was among the recommendations. The concept of the store is quirky; you have a video store that also serves ice cream and US postage. I really wanted to love this place. If they just rented movies and sold postage I would be less critical. The place is a bit on the grimy/grungy side. Not a place that I would want to purchase prepared food stuffs from. I wanted to take photos of the more concerning areas but felt uncomfortable about doing so at the time. However, I would consider using the services they provide that do not entail food handling. Update: I am less delighted with the quirky store concept now that I been back a few more times. Most recently I went in with a friend to rent a movie with her account. Renting the movie was not the problem. We watched the movie and returned it through the door slot later that evening when the store was closed. We assumed that would be the end of the story for our«hot» movie rental. A little over a week later my friend received a message stating that the movie was past due. She called to see what the confusion was and was told that her movie wasn’t returned. The employee said they would check to see if the movie was overlooked. Later that night the employee called back said the DVD was nowhere to be found. They offered a dollar amount to be paid to replace the DVD. My friend was obviously upset because we were both present when the disk was returned. She did not return to the store or speak with anyone for about a week then there was a new voicemail encouraging her to return the DVD or to come in and pay for it. She cancelled her credit card attached to the account at Jet and does not plan to return. I will also stay away. Something isn’t quite right over there.

I have lived in a house within walking distance of Jet my whole life and this place holds a lot of good memories. Ice cream, movies, post office. In summer, my friends and I used to go there and get ice cream about twice a week. It was a popular hangout for all the kids in my neighborhood. Everyone knows this place and everyone has been there. It’s the cute little neighborhood ice cream parlor that also rents movies. So convenient and one of my favorite places ever.

So I went back to Jet video for more giffords, the best ice cream around. This time was a better experience. It was closer to what I expect for a two scoop ice cream. Still not what you get an a giffords flagship store, but acceptable. I think they could add 50 cents to the price and give nice big scoops but I may be alone in that opinion.

When I moved to Maine this was the place all the locals talked about going to. It is awesome. You get fresh ice cream and you can actually rent movies. As someone who grew up in the 90’s renting movies was my families way of coming together and enjoying each others company. Great of kids and great for cheap ways to end a first date. A must go to if you have not been. Fast service and Great ice cream.

This is a very unique store, which will take care of all your movie rental, ice cream, and postal service needs. I have not used the post office or movie rental portion of the store, but I finally gave the ice cream portion a shot due to the nice, warm weather we have recently had. Jet Video serves Gifford’s Ice Cream and offers a variety of flavors. Prices seem slightly steep for ice cream, but still a nice treat nonetheless. It’s a nice neighborhood stop to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Convenient option for post office. Have not used this for any other services, but where else can you get a movie rental, post office, and ice cream in one store?

Video Jam is a mom & pop shop conveniently located on Steven’s Avenue. As a graduate student without a car, Video Jam is a place that I can go to drop off my mail, buy ice cream cones, and rent/buy cheap movies. Okay, so I don’t rent or buy movies here but I do enjoy getting a cone to satisfy my sweet tooth and it’s easy for me to send packages to my friends. With their fast and friendly service, what’s not to like about this place.
