I’ve been to the clinic for 3 different issues over the past 4 years. My sports medicine doctor Dr. Crist(Top Portland Doc) referred me to Dr. Davitt when he thought I needed surgery. He said that if his mom needed surgery that is the doctor he would want to see her. Dr. Davitt is outstanding. Caring, informing, and conservative. I’ve had 2 issues that have surgical and non surgical fixes he informed me of the research, gave his input– try the non surgical option 1st on both occasions. So he is not in a hurry to slice and dice. After doing to PT, I found out he is also my therapist doctor– she did have to have surgery and was happy with the outcome. He is well respected in the medical community for his skills. And I couldn’t have asked for more. Well maybe if I could stay on my own 2 feet it might be nice so I don’t have to see so often :)

My daughter was a patient of Dr. Davitt’s and received excellent care during all her visits. Asked about other reviews posted here. Dr. Davitt is a foot and ankle specialist and does not perform total hips.

I had the worst appointment scheduler I have ever talked to on the phone with this doctor. Rude, not helpful and when she found out I had Tricare wanted nothing to do with me. I would never go to this doctor just because of his office help.

James Davitt, was the on-call ER orthopedist, at Providence St. Vincent Hospital and performed a hip replacement after my femoral neck shattered. His greed knows no bounds; he required $ 10 for his signature on an employer form that stated how long I would be away from work, even though he was receiving thousands of dollars for the procedure. The surgery he performed on my hip was so badly executed(and chronically painful) that I visited another orthopedist who told me that my hip could«fail catastrophically at any time,» and that consequently I needed to undergo a second surgery requiring new hip protheses. Why would someone who specializes in foot surgery even attempt to do a hip replacement when there was plenty of time to find a qualified specialist the next day?

I went to see Dr Davitt with 3 broken metatarsals on my right foot in November 2012. A cast was put on before the swelling had reduced — the nurse was very curt and rude. I registered a complaint about her with the practice. 2 days later I had to go to the ER to loosen my cast, because of further swelling. 7 weeks later, the doctor gave me a shoe, and asked to bear no weight for another 6 weeks. He was then on sabbatical and was handing me off to a general ortho surgeon in the practice. For both the appointments, he spent about a minute with me. Nurses were no help either. I then went to another ortho specialist, who asked me to start putting weight and even try walking on my boot. He gave me the time I needed to answer all my questions, and recommended a correct treatment, also laying out a plan for the future. Had I stayed with Dr Davitt, 3 months later, I would have put no weight on my foot, and would have no idea how the treatment was going to progress beyond that point. Conclusion: I was EXTREMELY poorly served by Dr Davitt and his team, and would NEVER again go seek treatment from his practice.
