HOYT DOGS!
first time I waited in line was when they used to be in front of Gypsy’s.
I’m glad they moved to 16^th. Now that I work in the Pearl, I may need to snag a dog after my swing shift!
amazing food and friendly staff.

I love HOT DOGS! AANNNNNDDD, they’re about the best thing in the world after 2 or 8 beers. I’ll definitely be back…

Hot doggety dogs!

Like an Oasis in the desert, Hoyt Dogs is there for the late night crowd.
The Dogs are all quality and the guy who runs the cart is entertaining.
At 2AM there are not many better ways to spend $ 5 in the city and since they are in the parking lot of Radio Cab it makes it easy to get a ride home after you eat.
Everything a late night food cart should be.

The world is a better place because of Hoyt Dogs. Though they recently relocated to Lovejoy and 16^th, from their previous home on Hoyt and 21^st, the quality of their product has not diminished. I first heard about Hoyt Dogs after I moved into the neighborhood a few years ago. At the time I was having to get up to bake at 4:00 am, so I wasn’t always up when they were out grilling late at night. I eventually had one weekend off, so I took it upon myself to stay up late, just so I could check out their dogs. I still remember what it is I ordered, it was that memorable: a Zenner’s brat, which I then topped off with dill pickle relish (yes, dill! seriously, no one uses dill, only sweet pickle!), mustard, and their famous grilled onions. Oh, and some sriracha sauce too. The sausage was grilled to perfection, and it was so juicy that its drippings added a nice flavor to the perfectly toasted bun. At that point I was hooked. So hooked that there were nights where I’d forgo getting enough sleep just so I could get a late night dinner at Hoyt Dogs. Worth every penny. And Dave and Mischa were all too happy to oblige me. They’re also some of the kindest and sweetest people around!
I was sad when they temporarily closed down in January 2012 to find another location. I was also sad and ashamed to learn that someone else moved in on 21^st and basically copied Mischa’s business shortly after Hoyt Dogs had to relocate. Down to burning rosemary on the grill — Mischa’s signature move. That’s not right. But I’m happy Hoyt Dogs is back, and I hope they’re around for a lot longer!

My husband & I went to Hoyt Dogs one evening (not late at night after a night of partying, like many others have), and I really enjoyed it! As a pregnant girl who was craving a hot dog, it really hit the spot. I had their all-​beef hot dog and was in hot dog heaven. It’s also fun that Hoyt Dogs is just a little cart :) The owners are so sweet. the guy who was working there when we went told us how they built the actual cart themselves at a friend’s auto shop. I thought that was really neat!
With that said, $ 5 is a bit much for just a hot dog, but I will gladly do it again for a delicious late night hot dog :)

A magical Cinderella of a hot dog cart that only appears when you most need something delicious… usually to soak up alcohol after a night on the town.

Fantastic dogs better than anything out there.
People say it’s good eats for late night, but the truth to tell, it’s probably the BEST hot dog place in the city. The nearby stoop and milk crates provide ample seating can be a welcome respite amidst the zany late night club crowd. Consider it a good food cart.
Beat the post bar crowd by getting there around 11-​ish or 2-​ish

I was told that I needed to try a Hoyt Dog and after cruising around Portland on the «BrewCycle» and having lots of delicious craft beer I didn’t need much convincing. I thoroughly enjoyed my «8-​inch all Beef Hotdog but in case you didn’t know, Hoyt Dog has other quality weiner options. I really appreciated how the hotdogs were split before grilling so it was more easily adorned with the wonderful array of condiments. I also liked the slightly toasted bun. Best of all, service was super friendly. For Portland I expected this hotdog to be a little more «quirky» or «weird;» nevertheless, I was not disappointed with my 2:30am street-​side Hoyt Dog.

I consider myself a hot dog Connoisseur and I took pride in being the Authority on hot dogs in Portland. Then a night of drinking at the Gypsy dashed my high and mighty thoughts of being a hot dog «Expert». Not only had I never heard of this mouthwatering little late night stand, most of my friends had and assumed I knew about it… Well now I do, and its moved its way into first place on my list and I can say whole heartily… Delicious!!! I live in NYC now and came back for the week and made sure to make a special trip up to the NW side of town for a scrumptious perfectly cooked spicy juicy hot dog with cream cheese, all the yummy fixings, and nothing short of Lip smacking… Makes my mouth water even thinking about it, and when I am back in town you will know where to find me.

I gotta say, I was pretty drunk when I had Hoyt Dog but it was damn delicious.
The two guys that man the grill were very friendly and overall good dudes.
There were lots of available toppings from what I remember and the jalapeño/​cheddar dog I had was sooooo goood.
If you’re in the area, inebriated and hungry, I definitely recommend HOYT DOGS!
If I ever go back to Portland [probably never] and am in the area sober, I’ll give a alcohol-​free review but I’m guessing that won’t ever happen.

I remember walking home. I remember thinking that a hot dog sounded amazing. I remember the night starting with Guinness and ending with whiskey gingers. I recall waking up this morning wondering why my breath felt like onions. But, I don’t really remember my Hoyt Dog. Well I mean I do, I remember it being delicious. And apparently so good that I had to text someone to tell them that I was eating an amazing hot dog (I mean I don’t really remember doing that, but my phone says I did it. .. so yeah).
So why does Hoyt Dogs get 5 stars if I can’t even recall it properly (especially for a $ 4 hot dog), because it was tasty and desperately needed at the time. For the mere fact that they exist, had more than one dog option and plenty of condiments. And because the people that work there get to deal with drunkards (I mean besides me, because that was *totally* not the case for my stop) all night and seemed nice (she was nice! remember that). Oh yes Hoyt Dogs you will see me again.

Far and away the best food cart available.
Reason? it’s open late and that’s probably when you need it, not to mention the dogs/​brats are off the chain good, with a self serve condiment tray and a strong assortment of choice.
The company is good and the price is better, Hoyt Dog is quickly becoming a Portland favorite for not just me but many, this place gots magic!

The offerings last night were Polish, Louisiana Red Hot and Double-​Smoked with Bacon (all locally-​made by Zenner’s). They were out of the latter two, but the Polish was absolutely delicious! I also was not in time for caramelized onions.
Full complement of condiments, including ketchup, two types of mustard, cream cheese, shredded cheese, sauerkraut, etc.

Who could ask for more. A big juicy deliciouse dogs after a night of drinking. With a table of condements including cream cheese. Only 4 $, and it’s always an intertaining scene around 3 A.M. :)
