CLOSED!!! This place had the best hot dogs I have ever had… I tried going on a Monday, but he was strangely closed, so I called the number on Tuesday to make sure it would be open… Sadly the guy that runs it told me: «I sold the cart. Hog Time is closed forever.» RIP Hog Time

I love this place. You know how sometimes you can get some pulled pork and it has, like, weird stuff in it? Little bits of gristle and whatnot? Not here. Not ever. Just pure Carlton Farms tender, perfectly seasoned, porky goodness. And just to update y’all a little, he no longer makes the pita bread. But now he has burgers!!! Cascade Beef burgers! That you can buy with pulled pork on them! I had the«Pork and Greens» today, a delicious little salad with a mountain of pork and two sauces. Fab. Go there. Eat pork.

Went pretty quickly after driving to Portland for the first time and found this sea of food trucks. I love hot dogs so the Hog Dog caught my attention. Pulled pork, queso fresco, chopped onions, chipotle sauce on a 100% beef hot dog? Sounds right up my alley. It was! Very tasty and too big for me– ended up pawning off the last quarter to a friend. The whole thing was tasty but man I could have very easily also just eaten the pulled pork with the chipotle sauce… so good! Only downsides: only takes cash, and of course as with any food truck the outdoor seating is limited… I think he has like two stools. Oh well! It’s street food– eat it on the run! Next time I’m in Portland and need some street food I’ll be sure to go back!

We stopped here for a quick bite while we were waiting for our Chinese herbs to be prepared over at the OCOM clinic. We noticed they had an option for gluten free on their menu. I had the jalapeño and onion burger on gluten free bread and my wife had the Pig Pen, which was pulled pork on fries with some really good sauces. This place was great and we will probably eat here again.

It really has been a year since I last ate here — way too long — so I took care of that while taking care of business downtown. While I find the pork offerings here wonderful, I decided to partake of the mushroom and Swiss burger. The gentleman here does such a great job with pork, I thought a hamburger should be a shoo-in. This was a correct assumption. The burger is top-notch Cascade burger seasoned and cooked absolutely correctly with fresh mushrooms and Swiss cheese sort of steamed over the top of the burger. This delightful combination was ensconced in a perfect brioche bun and garnished with burger sauce, slightly bitter greens, and some Roma tomatoes. Lovely simple presentation of all fresh natural ingredients combined to make one of the best burgers I’ve had recently. This remains one of my favorite food carts, especially on a beautiful day like today. PS: I forgot to add this yesterday, but it remains to be said the owner of this food cart is very hospitable, easy to talk to, and genuinely likes what he’s doing, and it all shows in his handiwork. Keep up the great job!

It can be a gut bomb but completely worth it. Have eaten here 3 – 4 times and the guy running it is super nice. Gave me a sample the first time. According to my mom he has a great hot sauce. I don’t know why I missed the jeans to like spicy things. He was able to make it not spicy for me. I prefered the tacos to the burrito version. I never tried the fries. I just love the yummy pork and it fills me up! I felt bad two times I was there he has pan handlers coming up to his cart and customers asking for food. He asks them to leave to let his customers eat in peace,

Needed to grab some food before heading over to the Oregon Brewers Fest, and I wanted something substantial that would soak up all the suds. I had plans to go to Built to Grill, but the extra foot traffic caused them to sell out two hours early. So I headed around the corner to Hog Time. I wasn’t disappointed! Hog Time has about 5 or 6 options, from a pita wrap, a burger, and what I had, the Pig Pen. The Pig Pen is a basically poutine on crack. A pile of fries, pulled pork, queso fresco, and hot sauce. I was starving, so this crazy meal was appealing, and I’m glad I got it. The fries were cooked perfectly, just crispy golden brown enough to hold up after all the toppings. The meat was nice and juicy, and the sauces were spicy and perfect for the dish. I saw another guy getting the pita wrap while I was there and it was monstrous! I need to go back soon to try it out, it looked delicious. This cart is better than a lot of the carts on the block. The owner is nice, and he cooks up a quality mobile meal.

Hogzilla(n) — pulled-pork deliciousness wrapped up in homemade pita heaven. Perhaps the finest thing I’ve eaten from a food cart.

With a name like Hog Time, I kind of expected a variety of roasted and bbq pork options, but what I got was disappointing slop. There are about 5 menu options which are all variations of the same pork with a different carbohydrate(bun, roll, pita, fries, or tortilla). With my Hogzilla wrap, I received a generous amount wet, mushy and flavorless roasted pulled pork with some orange mayo on top. It was adequately seasoned, but not spiced, and the consistency of the pork, and even the taste are similar to a cafeteria tuna salad.

640+ Food Vendors in Portland and we went back to see Dave two days in a row. Do you need anything else? okay, well if you do. These were the best pork tacos I’ve ever had. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and it didn’t need any sauce or anything. the flavor used in preparing the pork is awesome! Dave, the guy behind the magic I believe, was super friendly and wanted to do everything to make sure we had the best food cart experience. Good work! Don’t walk past, stop and get the best food around!

Fantastic meat, pita and sauce. While visiting Portland we stopped here for a bite to eat and we are very happy that we did. We were a bit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of food carts in Portland so we owe to to luck and free samples for getting us to eat here.

Best cart in Portland. Fresh, tasty, diverse and delicious. If Hog Time is open, excellent fare is available in healthy portions for fair prices.

ooooooh-weeeee! What to say but, Thank God I’m not Jewish or Muslim! [ disclaimer: the above is a blatantly tongue-in-cheek irreverence celebrating my native culture’s freedom to indulge in a little, occasional culinary swine, w/o any fear that anyone will accuse them of sacrilege or other abominations. No offense toward two of the Great World Religions, nor their respective adherents, was intended… ] Tried the Hog-zilla and Boss Hog so far. Nifty creations, very filling, great value. Fast, friendly service! Loved the sauces for their sophisticated palate. Loved especially that this guy did not feel the need to completely drown the meat w/the sauce, as so very many places insist on doing. Very pleased to see several more delectable items on the menu before options are exhausted. But shoot— on second thought, he wouldn’t need to improve the menu one bit beyond the Boss Hog or the truly bad-ass ‘Zilla! How do you say«I’m stuffed!» In Yiddish??? ;p

Just had time to get a sampling of their pita, pork, and chipotle sauce here. I was quite impressed with the pork. It had good flavor, with a wonderful little zip of spice. Basically, the food cart operator told me the pork is braised in a sauce that contains jalapenos and other spices. The pita was also very good, although not mind-blowing. The chipotle sauce was nice and smoky, complementing the pork and pita well. A nice experience and great service!

While I’m afraid we didn’t taste enough of Hog Time’s offerings, I feel confident in this 5 star review for a few good reasons: 1. Great food, awesome BBQ. 2. Committed, passionate owner. 3. Other BBQ joints on our list closed earlier than stated hours. I had 3BBQ places on my list to try going through Portland; one we couldn’t find, and the other two were closed before 9pm! Found Hog Time when we visited Built to Grill and was not disappointed! First, the owner/operator knows good food — and understands good BBQ. Adds a creative twist to a few items and even makes his own bread… pita bread, nonetheless, and it is delicious! Just walking by, we were offered samples of the tender pulled pork. We were sold. Only problem, we had 2 other meals to eat in the car still… Yet I can tell you this is authentic, slow-cooking BBQ. Served with fries that seemed so simple, but were cooked to crisp perfection. You must try the bread and the chipotle sauce, too. Another bonus… this cart was clean(wow, someone washing their hands before cooking clean)! I’ll be back, with more room in the tummy next time. Would definitely be on my list of weekly haunts if I lived nearby.

Wow, pork never tasted so good! I had the Hogzilla and the flavors were amazing. From the soft, warm pita to the homemade sauces, I was in HOGHEAVEN! I also had the french fries and they were perfect as well. I can’t wait to go back and have more yummy pork!

Hog Time has some killer pork. Portland has it’s fair share of new Pork carts around town, but this one stands alone in quality and creativeness. This new cart on S.W. Washington grills their own homemade pita’s to order. The sauces offered on the sandwich’s are robust and exploding with a smokey, complex finish. A must try for the pork lovers of Portland.
