Hems In A Hurry & Boutique

I’ve been here twice now and the customer service is terrible. I sat waiting for over ten minutes and nobody even acknowledged my presence.
I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Dropped off a pair of jeans for a zipper replacement on a Wednesday. They rang me up for $ 20 and said to come back to pick them up the following Wednesday after 4. While I was satisfied with the work done, if you ask me, $ 20 for a new zipper and a week’s turnaround time is not so great.

Wrong business hours. Not open on Sundays. Drove out of my way to come here as hours on Unilocal dictated they were open on Sunday. Very disappointing.

After reading the Unilocal reviews (largely positive, although only now I am seeing the downward trend), I took a backpack to this shop to get some holes patched up and some loose pieces secured. She checked it out and quoted me for $ 40 — a little higher than I was expecting but I was happy to pay it have my these four spots fixed and my backpack back in working order. I returned at 5pm the next day, which was the time she told me and wrote on the receipt and… she hadn’t started the job yet. She INSISTED that I sit and wait while she did it quickly. I explained that I didn’t want the job done quickly and I would just come back the next day. She insisted it would only take a minute. I waited for 15 minutes then got up to leave. I asked for the receipt that I’d handed her, and she said I didn’t need it anymore. Hmm. I asked for it again, with a little more obvious grump in my voice. I returned the next day and picked up the backpack. It was fine, but not really the heavy-​duty stitching I assumed I was paying for. She didn’t ask me if I was happy with the job, she didn’t thank me for my patronage, and she didn’t say goodbye. I guess I’ll get to check out one of the other two alteration spots within a 5 minute walk of this one!

Would have loved, LOVED to give you my business one of the two times I used my break from work to attempt to drop my dress off for a zipper replacement. Tell me; what is the point of even posting hours? I have read that you require ½ payment cash upfront, but you don’t even respect the community you serve enough to adhere to your own hours?

I brought them my very nice, new, expensive BCBG jumpsuit I planned to wear to a wedding to have hemmed based on the Unilocal reviews. They did not replicate the invisible hem that was previously on the jumpsuit and they hemmed it too short for the shoes I planned to wear, which I was wearing when they pinned it. Admittedly I did see the pinned length and thought it looked ok but I’m not the expert at what these things are going to look like when done. It is still wearable with a new pair of shoes, but what a bummer!
Then, when I was venting to my bff, she told me both she and her husband separately brought some things here which then also screwed up. Apparently they ruined a few pretty expensive pants of his. I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I picked this place because of Unilocal and I don’t want others to make the same mistake!

I had a last minute meeting out of town and needed a pair of pants shortened the same day. Not only were they able to accommodate this but they also stayed a few minutes late after I called and told them I was stuck in traffic. Really excellent service when you are in a bind!

I brought in 4 curtain panels to be hemmed to 95″ on a Tuesday morning, and was told to come back in three days, on Friday at 5pm. Cost was $ 60 total ($ 15 per panel). Cash only. I paid a deposit of half. I came back at 5pm Friday as instructed. The curtains were not done! I needed them, so I sat and waited almost an hour while the woman who works there, a middle aged brunette with an accent from Eastern Europe, did them. I brought them home, ironed and hung them. The length was too short on all of them, and she said she had taken about 1.25 inches off. If she had actually hemmed them to 95″, she should not have taken more than ½″ to 5/​8″ depending on the panel. Furthermore, the panels were not even hemmed to the same length — one panel in particular was about ¾″ shorter than the others, which makes me think she assumed they were all the same length to begin with and cut them without measuring them.
«Hems in a Hurry» is right. She’ll hurry to get your money, in cash, and hurry to do shoddy work when it’s not ready at the promised time. I saw a similar review to this one and wish I had paid more attention to it before taking my business here. I will take my alterations elsewhere in the future.

I had 3 pairs of dress pants that I needed hemmed. I had never gotten anything altered before so I was a bit clueless to the process. I showed up and tried on each pair of pants while measurements were taken and the hem pinned to my specification.
I wasn’t in a hurry to have them done, but she still told me I could come back in 24 hours and pick them up! The drop off took around 15 minutes and the pick up only took 3. They don’t accept credit cards, so bring cash! You can pay before or after you pick them up.
The only downside was that, when I got home, I noticed several stray stitches near the butt of my pants. It seems as if the material got caught while she was hemming the bottoms and it ended up sewing together two sections of the butt! I definitely couldn’t have worn them like this, but I managed to use tweeters to break the stitch and pull it out — good as new!

This place is amazing. The owner is extremely nice and hard working. She does a great job and is very fast!

On Monday I dropped off a pair of pants and a dress that both needed zippers replaced. They quoted $ 50 total and wrote «Thursday at 5:00» on the tag. I showed up today at 5 and the work wasn’t done. They told me to come back Friday at noon. It was a complete waste of time. Booooo!

I had a great waterproof rain jacket that I scored a great price at Fred Myers $ 49, same material as those $ 200 Patagonia jackets. Only shortfall was the cheap nylon zipper. Well, Hems in a Hurry saved my jacket by professionally installing a brass YKK heavy duty zipper that I bought on amazon for $ 10. Thanks Hems in a Hurry.

I stumbled upon this place because, well, I needed a hem, and yes, I was in a bit of a hurry. I had also made the mistake several weeks ago of pretending I was more gymnastic than I really am and split the crotch of my favorite pair of jeans while attempting a Russian split on a trampoline — not freaking cool, man. I’m a pretty handy woman around the sewing machine but I just moved here so that old thing is still packed up in a box somewhere and I was too lazy to get it out and fix things myself.
The two ladies working here were very pleasant and had me go in the dressing room and change into the pants I needed altered. I stood on the platform and in probably no more than three minutes she had my pants pinned, marked, and ready for alteration. They accept only cash or check and the total cost was only around $ 20 — very reasonable if you ask me.
My pants were pressed and ready to go a few hours later and the quality of the work was very professionally done. I definitely recommend this place!

Nice service and great to know they are there. A bit expensive and the dress was not ready when it was supposed to be. However they finished when I was there. I will use them again if I don’t have the time to do on my own.

Holy crap! These ladies do excellent work!
I’ve taken several pairs of pants and 2 ladies suit jackets to be altered. You take your items in and tell them what you want done. They have you try them on while they pin the alterations in place and ask you if it looks they way you want it to. They ask you when you want to pick it up and they give you a copy of the ticket. You have the option of paying right away or when you pick up your items. It’s a cash or check only business. Pants were hemmed for $ 15 each and suit jacket sleeves were shortened for $ 30 dollars each.
In a business environment, having your quality suit jacket look like it fits you properly is definitely worth $ 30. One of my jackets had 2 buttons on the outside of the sleeve for decorum and the alteration went above their location. The ladies at Hems In A Hurry sewed the buttons back onto the sleeve and it looked the same as before the alteration! I am always impressed with the quality of their work — the stitching, the hem — everything is so well done.

Hems in a Hurry took the two dresses my other seamstress scoffed at tailoring without hesitation and gave me back two beautiful, perfectly fitting garments. This story starts a bit before Hems in a Hurry came into the picture. I had two suit dresses that fit well save for some bunching midway down my back. You see, I have this problem– I have a small waist and a rather large posterior. Because of this, dresses often bunch awkwardly just before said large posterior. My previous seamstress told me my dresses were helpless, that the disparity between waist and butt was too large and my dress simply couldn’t be taken in to accommodate my figure. I didn’t buy it. So I went to Hems In A Hurry, and I can officially say that I have replaced my former seamstress. Wonderful, professional work. Very quick, reasonably priced– it’s worth the trek to the NE for clothes that fit in all the right places.
OH! But bring check or cash– no credit/​debit!

Needed pants hemmed quickly, and they delivered. Paid $ 15 to have them hemmed while I waited. Most alteration places I noticed were closed on Mondays, but not Hems in a Hurry. Also, bring a cash or check. No credit cards accepted.

I had been using a dry cleaner for all of my alteration needs, but after a few pairs of ruined pants, I decided to try someplace else.
Hems In A Hurry was close, reasonably priced and promised a fast turn-​around time. And it delivered! My pants look great, cost only $ 15 and I didn’t have to repeat my request six times. It’s a family owned business that does good work. This is my new go-​to spot for alternations and loose buttons.

Brought some pants in to be tapered and hemmed and they were ready the next day.
The woman who owns the business has a somewhat plaintive daughter (?) who was helping me at first — but eventually she came over and decided to taper from both sides. She got the length just right and the tapering looks very natural.
Downside is it’s pricier than most, but very expedient and great quality work.
