So welcoming, knowledgeable and generous. My favorite growler fill spot – with a darling resident puppy to boot. Great selection and good prices. Outstanding customer service!

Fantastic selection, fair prices, a helpful staff in a nice space… Only thing more I could wish for would be a cheap growler discount day.

I wrote a long review but Unilocal erased it when it later told me to confirm via email first. So now a short version. This is the only place that charges people who are probably single so use a thirty two oz. Growler fifty extra cents for«spillage» not charged to those who buy the largest size growler. If I go there six times in a month, that is 3(THREE) extra dollars per month not spent on beer but extra cost. I could easily consume more beer than someone with a large growler going 2 or 3 times a month. NOOTHERPLACE I KNOWDOESTHISSO I DON’T GOTHEREASMUCHAS I WOULDDUETOTHISEXTRAFEETHATDISCRIMINATES.

I finally had the opportunity to check out Growler’s during the Hawthorne Street Fair a couple of weeks back. They were running a special where every pint was only four dollars, and I will say that I am very impressed with their selection. Their selection of beers branches out to not only other Oregon breweries outside of Portland, but to plenty of beers from around the country. I find it hard to get some East Coast beers on tap here in Portland, and it was nice to find Dogfish Head available. I should have checked if they had Goose Island, which is another favorite brewery of mine that you can’t find out here. I especially appreciate the digital board that shows what they have, the alcohol content, origin, how much is left, etc. The crowd seemed to be of the 30’s to 40’s settled types, which is a nice environment to be in if you just want to try out a new beer or get your growler filled. The outdoor seating area is nice though a bit barren, and from the looks of it they have a food cart on premises. The employees here were super friendly and helpful, and were knowledgeable in what beers they had available. I will definitely come back, especially if they have any growler deals like I’ve seen advertised.

I’ve never had a kombucha before and I couldn’t think of any other place than the Growlers Hawthorne. When I got there, I immediately noticed all sorts of handles with creative and unique Portland brews and tons of growlers for the taking/buying. More importantly, since this was an AM stroll, I was led to the kombucha station where we pretty much had unlimited fermented tea to «sample» as much as we want. After«sampling» for about 5 minutes straight, we ended up buying a small cup and went our merry way. Best part was that the staff were so incredibly kind and generous and never minded us just rehydrating ourselves, 5cc at a time. I recommend the superberry one, it was the mildest of them all. The ginger one was a bit too strong/unique for me.

Visited three times in four days. The lady who works at the tap is very friendly and they have about 40 kinds of local beers.

Loved the chill concept that truly celebrates craft beer! Great selection of beers and and value. Super friendly and helpful team. You can both fill a jug or simply stay for a pint. Owner/Manager came out to chat with us. Check out the Wall ‘O Brewers photos. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

I’m not even ashamed to tell you that I visited Growlers Hawthorne 7 times in a month. What? That’s not a lot? How many times have you been?! The crew, whose names I won’t share with you so as to prevent you rolling up in there calling everyone by their first names pretending like you’ve visited 7 times in a month, have been absolutely wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable, patient, sample-giving ladies(I would have added that they are all pretty but that would be sexist!). The selection and prices are great and I love that you can try anything before you buy. I’m a recent transplant(I see you rolling your eyes) to Portland and there weren’t any awesome beer sampling growler places where I’m from but I’d like to think that even if there had been they would not be as great as this one.

Super chill, open from 12−9pm most days The lady who works the taps is super friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back. I just wish they had one in San Jose!!! I have a growler bottle and no where to fill it in California.

I’ve never been much of a growler man, but I could get used to it here. They’re just a few blocks from my place, and have great rotating selection and decent prices(I don’t know that I’ll ever understand why growlers have to cost more per volume than bottled beer??). I like that they’ll give you plenty of samples before you decide and they have a loyalty card that can result in various goodies(like a filling discount or a growler) after 10 fills.

This place is great. The staff are fantastic, the selection is sublime and the location is so very convenient. I love this place. It is my hands down favorite growler station in all of Portland.

Just tried this place and it was wonderful! Excellent selection of beer, cider, meads, kombucha, and even a rootbeer. Strictly a take home place, but they are very generous with the free tasters, so you can try before you buy. The staff is a delight! Very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They have a large display(which is also available on their website.) which not only tells what’s available, but also how much is left in the keg. The beers were exceptionally fresh and the variety was exceptional. They have growlers for sale or bring your own. Evidently they will fill pretty much whatever as long as it is marked with how many ounces it contains even mason jars! They also have a punch card loyalty program which I will be taking advantage of! Definitely a keeper!

Growl, growl, growlers! They are everywhere: from minimarts, to giant groceries, to brewpubs — where they started in Oregon, to purpose-built growler concerns, like Growlers Hawthorne. Why fill up your tank at Growlers Hawthorne? They have parking. On Hawthorne. You can survey the taplist on their website in advance: description, where brewed, price, IBU, ABV, and how full the keg. They fill several kombuchas and other non-alcoholic brews. Great staff! Most recommended, they have a wide and ever-changing collection of growler containers for sale. They have selections beyond the common narrow mouth containers which are essentially impossible to clean. They have wide mouth stainless steel vacuum insulated growlers. They have fancy growlers pressurized by a CO2 cartridge with a tap. Many more! They have a focus on growler containers at least cost. If a manufacturer is closing out growlers, they will find them and pass the savings on to you. So OK to arrive without a growler in hand! Get them for friends! Growlers is a family business focused on freeing you from hauling bottles and cans from home to exchange. Let’s be more efficient! Did I say they have tasty beers, and kombucha? Yum!

I’ve been twice within maybe 2 weeks and was surprised to see how many new beers there were. with 48 beers and a fantastic variety that’s always changing(they have a calendar with upcoming beers) It’s hard for me to even consider going to safeway or fred meyers to fill my growler. prices seemed fair and the staff is great i’ve stayed and tried beer for awhile both visits and had a good time.

Wow what a selection of beer/kombucha, to go! Note this is not a sit down and drink your beer establishment. It is a pick up your favorite beers in a growler and take it home to enjoy. The beer layout is similar to Baily’s Taproom. Large selection 40 beers, big TVs instantaneously telling you how much is left and what’s up next. Heck if you go to their website you can see selection and quanities there. They sell all types and sizes of growlers for your drinking needs. FYI there are some great food carts in the area that go great with beer :)
