Foster Vision

I’ve always received the best customer service here, I have seen Dr. Kwon more, but both doctors are always very nice and very informative. The staff has always been very polite as well, I have never had a negative experience and I’ve been going here for around 2 years. I always recommend it to people looking for a new eye-​care place.

I discovered Foster Vision as a Premier provider with VSP. As an over 60+ female, they not only provided me the best eye exam I have ever had, but suggested an exam I have never had. So impressed their attention to my eye care! Dr Kwon and her staff are fabulous! I purchased 2 pair of glasses and returned today for contacts… I have a challenging prescription… Dr Kwon hung in there with me until I was happy with the contacts. I’m from Salt Lake and wish I could send customers to them… with me saying that Foster Vision is The Best in Portland…

Ive been coming here for years and i will never go back. I just realized that they sent 1800contacts the wrong prescription, tried to charge me an additional $ 80 dollars 3 months after my visit just to get a written contact prescription that i already paid for and when i tried talking to the receptionist she was incredibly rude.

They are on top of their game! I had no idea how much I’ve been suffering with the brand of contacts I used to wear until this gal started asking me about my experience with them… an eye doctor that actually cares! Who knew?!
She switched my brand and holy crap… I can actually see and they are so comfortable. I was talked into getting my first pair of prescription sunglasses — I should have them in a week or two, so I’ll try to remember to update this review once they’re ready.
The only reason I’m not rating with the full 5 stars is that they wouldn’t give me the measurement between my pupils — I get why they wouldn’t want to (online purchases of glasses), but, ya know, they are my eyeballs and I should be allowed to have all of my information.
Overall, great place with a super friendly staff!

I am now giving them the full 5 stars… the sunglasses are perfection and they ended up giving me the pupil distance measurement after all.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I have to agree with the previous reviewer and their sales tactics and billing. When I asked for my prescription they said no, they would give it to me on the 2^nd appointment. Why they wouldn’t give it to me then, I’m not sure. She also charged me $ 60 for assisting me put 1 contact in. She referred to it as exam services. If she would take told me if I help with this contact it will cost you $ 60, I would have said no. I would say there are better optometrists out there. I wouldn’t recommend this place, but it wasn’t that bad.

Dr Kwon, the best doc ever! She beautiful and friendly! The whole staff was supportive and extremely helpful! Affordable prices and friendly inviting atmosphere!

Fast, easy, efficient and helpful staff! I will be back for all my future exams and eyewear needs. They even dealt with the stupid Insurance company without complaining!

This is a nice enough shop. The prices are fine. The optometrist I’ve worked with there is good and gave me a thorough exam. The desk people are very friendly, but they are constantly pushing the sales aspect of the business. They do things like not writing the pupillary distance into eyeglasses prescriptions so that you are impeded from ordering elsewhere. I even explicitly asked for the PD and was told that they don’t write that on scripts. The only reason to exclude that is for the purpose of making sure you buy glasses through them rather than from another retailer. They also do things like «strongly advise» the way services get billed to your insurance in an order that funnels future sales to them, and for no better reason than that it helps ensure lock-​in there for future purchases.
I understand needing to make money in a business, but find another way to do it that doesn’t involve offering disingenuous advice or withholding information from patients about their own prescriptions. I expect medical practitioners to be trustworthy, and neither of the practices I described above give me confidence about the service I’m receiving.
It’s not even about the money aspect. I would likely still buy supplies from them even though it’s somewhat more expensive than some other retailers simply because I’m already there and it’s convenient. For example, I was offered an enhanced retinal exam, recommended since I have such myopic eyes. I was told up front that there’s a fee and how much that fee was. I gladly accepted the extra charge and appreciated getting a very detailed view of my eyes with a thorough explanation from the doctor about how to interpret it. This was money well spent. What bothers me isn’t the money; it’s the prevaricating sales tactics.

I thought any optometrist was like any other optometrist until I came here to Dr. Kwon. She was the very first optometrist I have met who took very personal care of her patients. She actually gave me her input on which glasses matched my face and everything. She did such a good job in informing me on the condition of my eyes and everything. I think everyone in the Portland area should go to her.

This is a great little shop! They have a nice selection of glasses and are fairly priced and affordable especially compared to some of the other shops in Portland. I had my eye exam by a staff optometrist and my contact follow up Dr. Kwon. They were both great. Dr Kwon and her staff were very hands on and helpful during the whole process. When I ordered my glasses, the turn around time was incredibly fast and I’m very happy with them. Dr. Kwon even called me herself to tell me they were in! I plan to go back to get my prescription sunglasses and will continue to get my exams done here in the future.

Love them! They work so hard trying to make everyone happy! I have my exams and get my glasses there. the prescription is right on. they have a good assortment of frames. I’ve been a client for a few years now and have no reason to go elsewhere.

I was VERY pleased with this great eye clinic. Superior customer service from the moment I entered the door until I left. Very thorough eye exam, and an excellent selection of frames. I need a larger frame to fit my fat head, and they had several XL style frames to choose from. The place was very clean. I am very happy and will return when I need eye care.

Amazing staff and a very knowledgeable doctor! Dr. Kwon was very friendly and knowledgeable in recommending reading glasses and a pair of sun glasses for me this week. They have a Korean speaking staff so if you’re looking for a Korean Optometrist, this is the place to go. They have nice selection of Asian-​fit glases/​sunglasses as well.

Cute little eye place. Everyone was super nice & friendly. The optometrist was patient & nice, which was very helpful for me since I have such trouble seeing & deciphering the tiny letters they make you try to read. My glasses were ready a week after my exam & they even threw in a free glasses case. I have found my PDX eye care place! :)
