Great idea with the waffle sandwich like taco thing. It is the best food available to you if you are in this part of town late night, especially a weekend night. Do yourself a favor and pass up the long lines at Voodoo for a waffle you will never forget. Only down side is the limited hours.

This place has some great concoctions that I find delicious, but I can’t help but wish they had some more seasonal/changing offerings. I’m a huge fan of fruit on waffles and wish they had some of that integrated into their sweet(or maybe even a little of their savory) options other than just preserves. I really enjoyed the THB and the MB9 which I tasted, we also got a simple butter and sugar but for me it was a little too buttery and soggy, would have enjoyed a more crispy sweet waffle. Again, only my opinion. And regardless of a few preferences, I’ll likely go back.

Well, it was ok. I had the Turkey Havarti Bacon(meat and cheese in a plain waffle). I was hungry so it was good but there wasn’t anything that jumped out at me and said, ‘this is amazing”. I did spend some time picking out the fat from my bacon. Flimsy bacon fat in a dry waffle just wasn’t sitting well with me that day. I think I would have been ok with crispy bacon or turkey bacon… now I know. For now I’m leaving it as «A-OK» because it was good but not spectacular. I’m going to try other menu items and review this again.

Had the no.1 — delicious fresh waffle, pork sausage and maple spread and it was heaven! Edges of the waffle were crisp, middle was soft. Savory, rich juicy sausage was amazing with the sweet spread.

This cart serves up some fun items but is overall pretty mediocre in comparison to other Portland waffle options. While the items are generally good, the flavor and quality just do not«pop» or stand out as anything beyond average. Further, the actual waffle used for the wrap is just your average waffle, whereas some of the other waffle spots around town put much more care into the waffle itself. While this cart can provide a decent meal, it unfortunately does not quite live up to it’s name in a city full of strong competition.

I am easily pleased sometimes when it comes to food. So: meat, good. Waffle, good. Maple glaze, good. Folded up as good walkin’ food? Heck yeah. Yes, i’m sure that there could be a lot of improvements on batter, meat selection, etc. But sometimes, when you’re just out for a morning walk and BOOM you got a waffle/taco/breakfast party in your hand, you don’t complain, you just eat and keep on going.

After a late night rock show me and a friend of mine decide on getting some late-night munchies. We were down town on third and Ash so we decided to get a bite of something yummy to settle our stomachs. After looking over several food carts we decided to settle on one in particular The Flavor Spot. After studying over the menu we decided on a savory option, ham, Gouda, and bacon wrapped in a waffle, Portlandia street food at its finest, Ya buddy! Shortly after receiving our offering wrapped in butcher’s paper we dove in. Quickly I tasted what I recognized as the taint of a packaged overly sweet waffle mix(I didn’t consider it a great paring with the filling ingredients). Starving from our late-night adventure we persevered while romantically alternating bites like rabid wolves. Even though we finished every bite my friend and I discarded the wrapping with something to be desired. I thought it was just ok and my friend said she didn’t even get one bite with cheese in it. Oh well, it did in a pinch, next time I think I might walk to the next block to try something new.

Let’s start off by saying… please, please, please use an original batter. this one is way to sweet, and tastes like something out of the«box» My take on this was, they whipped up some waffles, and put together some creative meats/cheeses, and voila… that’s what you get. I was not impressed enough to rant and rave the ohhhs and ahhhs. The THB was good, but not OMG good…

Meat and maple spread in a waffle… It’s simple genius. Sweet, savory, and in your hand. This is one of those places that when you know you want what they have, you will go out of your way to go get it and be satisfied. Let the tourists wait in line at VooDoo for their sweet fix. I do wish the bacon in the MB9 could be crispier but I have never requested it so maybe they would do that next time.

Honestly, my evaluation of FlavourSpot is tainted by the current lack of places downtown to grab a vegan breakfast(I still mist up a bit every time I walk past the former Veganopolis location). That alone raises this cart from a two star review. «Why so low?» you ask when everyone else is vomiting up praise and stars? Its a bit hard to compare these offerings to other food around town. Should I evaluate them as breakfast? If so, spots like the Hungry Tiger Too give you way more food for the same price point. Should I evaluate them as stuffed food? If so they’ll never touch the flavor complexity of a Whiffies pie or the variety of No Fish! Go Fish! with what’s currently on the menu. Should I evaluate them as sandwiches? I hope you realize that DC Veg sells at the same price and is infinitely better than what you have and only a block away. Who wants a simple meat and cheese sandwich other than children? So where does that leave us? With a cart peddling an uninspired waffle gimmick. They don’t even play around with fun a exciting batters. Quite frankly, the food is just too damn basic. If your downtown stuffing food in a waffle, you need to be the Voodoo Doughnuts of waffles. Every time I look at the menu at FS I can’t help but think its just way too… safe… conservative… uncreative.

I mean, like, I ate a lot during my week-long trip to Portland, OR, but I’m pretty sure the waffle sandwich I had at this place was the single best food item I put near my face. Who cares about Voodoo when buttery waffle delights are just around the corner? So, imagine four groggy-eyed hooligans from southern California leaning over the railing next to the river commenting on Canadian geese and looking out at Southeast Portland(I think) in the distance with coffee in one hand and a dutch taco in the other. I think there were a lot of meaningful looks and quiet moments of self-discovery involved, but like, who cares? The point is: FlavourSpot waffles are super delicious.

I didn’t even know that this cart existed until this morning. I had jury duty downtown and my Girlfriend gave me a groupon for this cart. I’m so glad that she did! I got 2 of their dutch tacos, one savory and one sweet. The savory was turkey, bacon and Havarti. It was really good! The sweet waffle with the cheese and meat was really great. The other was a jam and cream combo that was perfect with the waffle. This place was great and I look forward to going back and trying something else on their menu.

I have fallen prey to the food cart craze way to many times now, I keep trying new places only to be let down more times then not. I tried the sausage and maple syrup offering, and while I admire the idea of the waffle sandwich this was just to much. The flavor was overwhelming and it was messy and I felt like… well I ate a waffle full of sausage for the rest of the day. Not the best cart I have found so far.

My BF stopped here after complaining of severe morning hunger. I have never seen such an excited man in all of my life. He got a waffle folded in half like taco, stuffed with sausage and maple spread. Holy waffle. It lasted less than a minute and he says it is better than Voodoo, which is right around the corner. TAD

Finally made it to the downtown location. I’ve been wanting to try a lunch time waffle and I’m glad that is a cart that is actually open on Monday and Tuesdays! I tried the THB waffle which has turkey, havarti cheese and bacon. It was so good! The waffle itself is great and meshed well with the other ingredients. My friend had the ham and gouda waffle and enjoyed it as well. Next time I go back and just get a dessert waffle!

I dream about the warm and delicious Butter & Sugar Waffle from Flavour Spot almost everyday. I craved about it, imagined it, it’s like Waffle porn. It’s a bit hard to find good waffle in this fine city. Not only good in taste, but also size, and price. I’m thankful for Flavour Spot, with only $ 2.50, I can satisfy my butter & sugar waffle needs. They have other toppings as well. Every time, I come by to this cart, I want to try something new. However, I always end up ordering the same damn thing. I’m hook on Flavour Spot, I don’t think I can stray and find another waffle lover. P.S: Somehow, the«check in» feature on Unilocal mobile doesn’t work for this place. Even if you couldn’t check in, the waffles here worth a trip. :).

Delicious! S’mores! The sweet, melty marshmallow fluff and Nutella filled crispy, yet soft waffle definitely hit the spot! The delectable treat was enough to make me forget the heat, my skinned knee and my throbbing ankle. You see, on the walk to this FlavourSport cart from the 10th and Alder cart pod, I rolled my ankle near the Gin cart on 3rd and skinned my knee. Watch out for uneven sidewalks! That S’mores waffle was definitely what the doctor ordered! I tried to lick up every bit of that homemade marshmallow fluff, even getting some on my cheek. As we were walking up to FlavourSpot, we could see that they were in the process of shutting up for the afternoon. I am so grateful that the operators decided to stay open a little longer and make us our waffles! The lovely cart guys even recycled my soda can bought from a different location(by the by, where are the recycling bins around these cart pods?). Thanks, FlavourSpot guys, for everything!

So glad to have this location, which is within a long-ass, drunken walk to/from my humble abode. The usual suspects are on the menu, and, boy, are they awesome! Just had me a «Fifth Avenue»(chunky peanut butter and Nutella) for the first time ever, and I think I’ve found a new sweet favorite. Of course, I say that about nearly everything I indulge in at any of the FlavourSpot locations. Kudos to the FlavourSpot Deities for this well-placed addition to the Cartoverse™!
