This was part of my quest for the Southern Californian Burrito. It seems fruitless to write this review — being that the place is closed. Maybe the other locations make burritos the same way? Basic rundown: It had a good atmosphere. Classic arcade machines I’m used to seeing in all the So Cal joints, benches, plenty of customers, squirt bottle salsas. The catch with this place is that ALL burritos have REFRIED beans in them. You have to request without refried beans. I don’t know how I messed this order up. My carne asada had refried beans. I should note I also ordered a Chorizo burrito. Refried beans. Now I like refried beans. Actually, I love them. But I love them in Tex-Mex burritos. I love them in plain bean and cheese burritos. I love them in many ways, shapes and forms. I don’t love them in my carne asada burritos. Wrong wrong wrong! Request without! About the burrito, it lacked the guacamole. Taste was relatively bland compared to other shops. Price, however, was good especially for the size. $ 3.95, it was medium-big. * Overall Rating: B– Price: $ 3.95 * Beans /Rice: Had to specify not to include. * Salsa /Guac: Not really /Not really * Salsa Bar: No. * Tortilla: Rolled mostly correctly. It wasn’t TOO grilled — good. * Size: Medium-big for the price.

My favorite is their fajita burritos. Unfortunately, this location closed in August 2007, but their other location is still open at NE82nd Avenue, across the street from Madison High School.

Oh lord, I love the Loco. I grew up on their Bean and Cheese burritos. What glorious evenings when mom or dad decided it was«Loco Night.» So I may be squeezing that 5th star out because of my fond memories, but the burritos here are huge and never disappointing. I have to admit I’ve never had anything beyond the burritos, but it looks like other people like them! If you’re in the neighborhood swing by!

«I’m craving Burrito Loco!» whispers my co-worker Sharon who I share an office with… and off we go during lunch time! We leave at 11:30 just before the crowd gets there! I have been getting the taco salad, but no diet food here! The taco shell is about 6 inches high and just filled with your choice of meat, of which they give easily ¾ cup of meat, shredded lettuce topped with sour cream and cheese. The taco salad is literally 5″ high! So we stay to eat and we never run into anyone from work! This is the ‘hole in the wall’ place — no frills, just good grub! Quick, cheap and yummers! My other co-worker would note that during lunch time lots of boys go there, but no thanks, I’d rather have their humongous whopping burritos! Really, the only thing that was weird about this place… check out their napkin dispenser, it’s like pulling out toilet paper in the bathroom — okay, yeah, hold the beans!

I went here for the first time while visiting my sister a few years ago, who raved about the delicious burritos. She wasn’t lying. The burritos are quite impressive and flavorful. They are big enough for you to need to be truly hungry to finish one. I come back whenever I need my burrito fix for a low price. The service is quick, and while I rarely stay to eat, there are a few tables in front and another adjoining room with more seating for those who want to eat right away. Don’t forget the packets of hot sauce for added flavor and a nice kick.
