I went here looking for a farewell card and was really impressed with the cards, the shop, people, everything! I found the perfect card for a very special person. They also have cool PDX cards and some Oregon-related too. Will be back to get Valentines Day cards!

Even though this is a simple and small card/stationary store, you can easily spend at least half an hour looking at all the cards. They have a great selection of birthday, holiday, thank you, anniversary, and Portland-themed cards! You will definitely leave with something whether you initially wanted to or not. They have single cards but also sets for ~$ 15. Each card is around $ 4 – 6, but I think they’re so worth it! Creative, cute, hip. You can also find all your gift wrapping necessities here. The lady working tonight was wrapping up a gift for a customer, so I’m assuming they offer that service as well! Great place to check out if you’re a card aficionado or are just looking for a non-Hallmark card! YAYLOCAL

Lovely little shop with very reasonably priced items. The quality of their material shows. And the lady at the desk was lovely! She helped us choose packaging and gift wrap a present for a friend’s special day. We really appreciated the personal touch!

Even now after a few years in the property management industry and all the paper we go through(and there seems to be more paperwork every year), I still love paper(and all the accessories associated with it). When I walk though a stationer’s store, and with hands clean, i let my fingers do the walking to touch and enjoy paper items, feeling for smooth or rough or purposely«frayed edges.» I also still love to send cards and buy sundry other accessories like paper clips. It was a real delight to stop and look at everything in this small store that is somewhat reminiscent of Tender Loving Empire except that Ecru is more focused and polished. I was greeted by the friendly clerk(perhaps owner?) who seemed to have a perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. The store was wonderfully clean and shiny. No sneezing at all for this shopper; what a relief. I was particularly pleased with the Portland-centric greeting cards that used many Portland themes gently and not in a heavy-handed manner(remember«put a bird on it» that peaked early in the overuse category?). You can easily send or give a card to anybody here in Portland and they’d love it, and sending a card to anybody out of town would also be a fun way to introduce them to Portland-ish themes and humor. The quality in this store is high. Some of the cards are such you would be happy to frame them. If you’re a paper lover too(or just enjoy looking for unique smaller gifts), stop by Ecru. I think you will find more than you thought!
