Dorian’s Shoe Repair

Dorian did an excellent job with two pairs of shoes I brought in for repair.
The first were 5-​year-​old Louboutin pumps which had seen a lot of wear. The outsole was very worn and had begun to separate from the toe box. The outsole is now firmly fixed, and he placed a red rubber half-​sole along the bottom of the pump which was the right shade of red. He also buffed out imperfections in the patent leather. They look as good as new, and it was just $ 25. They were ready in about a week.
The second pair were No. 6 clogs which had fallen into the clutches of my then 5-​month-​old puppy. The left clog’s heel had been gnawed down to a splintered stump. Dorian and I talked about options, we came up with a plan, and he cautioned me that it would take several weeks. I got a call that my shoes were ready on the projected date, came by a few days later, and was pleasantly surprised at the result (see photos). It was impossible to restore the wooden sole as it once was, but he did an excellent job creating a stacked leather heel. He altered the uninjured mate so that the heels match. It was all for $ 55 — a fraction of the cost of new No. 6s.
tl;dr: Excellent job, low price, ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would get cobbled here again.

Dorian’s did an excellent job fixing a job another shop did poorly. And I have to give them extra credit because three shops originally refused to even try the job, knowing it would be too difficult for them. Splendid craftsmanship and great service. I highly recommend them.

I took a pair of Fluevog boots there the first week of December 2015 to get re-​soled and was given a pick-​up date of 12/​28/​2015. I stopped by shortly after the pick-​up date to pick up my boots to find out they weren’t done. No explanation or update, just told frankly «you have to wait for a call» Ok, sure. Several weeks later, I called to get an update on my boots, and was met with the rudest attitude on the phone, first interrupting me with «well a ticket number would help», and mockingly told me «we’ll call you when they’re done» Again, no update, no explanation, just attitude. It’s now March 8. No boots. No word from the shop. I’m not sure I even have boots to pick up anymore. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone that actually cares for their shoes. There are much better places without the foul personalities. These guys are crooks, stay away. I’m chalking this one up as a loss because I refuse to step foot into that place again.

All the Dorian’s shoe repair people are wonderfully skilled and great at customer service. They can do ANYTHING in leather. They’ve fixed cat collars, belts, and shoes for me. They even made holes in my Kindle cover, so the cameras on both sides could be used. Amazing. They stand behind their work 1000%, too, and will do over anything that doesn’t please you, (just about everything pleases me!) Their work is tops.

Now I know why it’s cheap. My new heels for my boots had just been glued on for $ 15. Took one of them to fall off while out and about, and a shoe repair place in Seattle to point out that they could simply peel off the other. Not sure why I had to wait two weeks for something to be cheaply done. I hate to write a bad review, I’m sure he does good work on other items, but as far as re-​heeling it should be done by finalizing them and tacking them on. Now my boots are done right and will last a long time. Maybe things have changed since I got them done, but I sure hope no one else has encountered this issue. Maybe it was a mess up.

Had a pair of boots that I bought online years ago which then got lost in the back of my closet and then found and then I remembered why they’d gotten lost in the first place — the shaft fit too snugly around my calfs and the boots were essentially unwearable. Two years of me being me didn’t shrink my leg size enough, so it was time to take them somewhere for stretching.
Dorian’s charged me just $ 8, and that came with a guarantee that if they still didn’t fit after an initial «torture session,» as they put it, they’d be happy to give it another go free of charge. Great!
I did have to take advantage of their second-​try offer, and because of all that torture the seams split in the back. Dorian’s fixed it up with a matching piece of leather. Boots look great and now I can wear them yesss!
Still have a pair of black work pumps getting fixed that I pick up later this week. Will let y’all know how that goes.

Incredible service — Everyone at Dorians is phenomenal, not to mention the pricing and timeframe and quality of service! I brought in four pairs of leather boots for cleaning and polishing on Tuesday. $ 20 and 24 hours later they look better than when I purchased them! And these are boots that have gone through some nasty east coast AND west coast winters. One pair was brand new and my puppy took a liking to them — she had basically used them as a scratching post! But thanks to Dorians, you can’t even tell anymore!!! This place is a total gem: it feels like a small town shop, but right downtown.

I brought my favorite pair of boots here to get the leather soles and heels replaced. Great service and phenomenal work, all for only $ 60. The boots look good as new and the materials are top notch. Highly recommended.

Dorian is awesome! Rebuilt the tongue of a brand new boot that my dog decided was a treat. I have to say, he matched the original boot design flawlessly.
This is the second time I’ve done business with Dorian and I will not go any where else.

The sole on my beloved winter boots started to peel off just as winter was right around the corner. I stopped by Dorian’s Shoe Repair 3 minutes before the store was about to close. The gentleman working behind the counter was very friendly — and he fixed the boot right on the spot! I would HIGHLY recommend this spot to anyone who wants to extend the life of their shoes.

I found out about Dorian’s whilst complaining to the salesman in Solestruck about my beloved Moma boots that had recently developed a squeak. Despite being downtown so not the easiest access with parking, traffic, etc., I decided to gather up my boots and give them a try. The place I had been using up until now does an ok job but wouldn’t recommend taking expensive shoes there.
After chatting with the guy about my squeaky Moma’s and realizing he definitely seemed to know what he was talking about, I dropped them off along with a pair of Frye’s boots which needed a resole. He said he’d know more about what it’d cost to fix the squeak once he pulled them apart and said the resole would be $ 68.00 because of the way Frye’s does their soles he’d had to put a full one on. He later called to tell me it’d be $ 25 to fix the squeaky Moma’s. When I picked them up, the total was much lower because it turned out that the Frye’s didn’t have to have a full sole — $ 50.00 and they looked like brand new boots. Unfortunately, my Moma’s do still squeak but it was worth $ 25 to find out that they are doomed to be squeaky. I will mention it next time I go in.
I also dropped off a pair of Costume National boots that had been resoled very badly, basically ruining a very expensive pair of boots, I’d stopped wearing them. Decided to see if Dorian could fix the disaster and he did a great job, they look great and they are definitely wearable again. Ditto for the pair of Helmut Lang boots I had resoled at the same time, they luckily had not been ruined by someone else first so it was easier for him to make them look great again. I also had a pair of boots and a pair of shoes stretched that I’d attempted to have stretched twice before but this time they actually did get stretched and are wearable now.
All in all, I am very pleased, the price point is fair and the only complaint I have is that the wait is long — but I guess that is what happens when you do fabulous work and have a lot of customers.

Dorian’s came recommended to me by a family member. I had several pairs of good shoes that needed attention and so decided to try him out.
He did things to my shoes that I didn’t even know could be done.
I brought in my Winter shoes in the early summer (and plan to take the Summer shoes in for the Winter), one pair had messed up suede heels, some needed a simple extra stitch for durability and another pair needed to have a sole put on where none had existed in the past.
I was quoted 3 weeks, but there was no rush on my end so I just let him do his thing and I am glad I did. They ended up taking a bit longer, but everything was returned in much better shape than I had left them; polished, cleaned up, better than new. Now my favorite pair of booties are cushioned on the bottom! Even the torn suede is miraculously fixed!

Dropped my favorite pair of boots off to have new heels put on at the beginning of the year an end of boot season, even though it took a little over a week they were awesome. I pulled them back out a few weeks ago and noticed the one heel was ever so slightly separating. I took them back in and he fixed it in hours free of charge and polished my babies up to look brand new again! Dorian is straight to the point no funny business and I like that!

I had my favorite winter boots repaired here last year, and they did an excellent job for a fair price. My only complaint is the wait time, but I guess I can’t complain too much that they have so much business, it’s well deserved.

Very professional and helpful. Made a new pair of shoes WAY more comfortable for $ 6! I will recommend to fam/​friends.
Oh, also stop by to ask them about taking care of your shoes long term. There are some easy/​affordable ways to wear your investment for a long time.

I took in two pairs of shoes (one dress shoes and one boots) to have the heels fixed since I’ve worn them down so badly I wasn’t sure they could even be repaired. The staff was very friendly and explained exactly what they would do and how much it would cost. He even explained they were really busy and it would be longer than normal but I’d already waited so long to take them in I figured it was worth a few weeks to get them fixed and actually wear them again.
They actually called me because they were ready a day early and he wanted to make sure I could come pick them up if I had time. I was impressed that they would take the time out of their day to do that. I will be taking in other shoes as needed to this shop.

I took my shoes here after they were very poorly resoled at another popular shoe service store. I thought the shoes were ruined when the prior shop put rubber men’s shoe bases on a pair of nice heels with leather soles. The folks at Dorian’s were helpful, reassuring and great. I cannot say enough good things! They saved my lovely shoes and I will never go anywhere else.

I brought in a pair of KEEN sandals that were fraying at the straps and I knew would be a tricky fix, but Dorian’s fixed them up perfectly. They went above and beyond to make sure the problem was fixed right.
They added new material and extra reinforcements.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and they aren’t afraid to think outside the box.
I don’t think I’ll ever take my shoes anywhere else.

A coworker recommended Dorian’s and she was right. They are great and I love the high quality work they did on my boots.
They added rubber soles to a pair of my Frye boots that have leather soles (which don’t last long in Portland weather). They also added protection to the boot itself to help repel water.

Shoes are made of leather. Usually. So are watch bands. Often.
When my toity watch came loose at the clasp several high-​end, downtown stores waved me away, «No, no, the watch is fine. You need a leather worker.»
High on the list of phrases you never want to google, by the way.
Dorian’s had done right by me for years with shoe repair so I popped in one day to ask about stitching up the leather band.
2 minutes later it was done. For free!
