CORD is a wonderful shop full of unique, interesting products. There are so many shops in Portland that carry the same, generic, straight out of a catalog stuff, but CORD has set itself apart! There is something for everyone here that you can’t find anywhere. The owner is super friendly and makes you feel welcome, which is not always the case in smaller stores like this. What a great place!

Portland seems to be full of stores that feature curated design items. Beam & Anchor is one example and CORD is another. CORD is right next to Ampersand(specialty publications) and both are connected via an inside door. Both establishments should be part of a single shopping experience. One huge plus here is that CORD stocks leather and bag products from Makr Carry Goods out of Florida! This is top notch stuff of which a own at least a few pieces. CORD carries other design items and at a wide variety of price points. I ended up with a cool hammer and a couple notes from future considerations. The Owner was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and low pressure. CORD is definitely worth a look and for me a return visit the next time I’m in town.

Cord is a much needed addition to the Alberta Street retail ecosystem. Initially Alberta was all about reuse and vintage design. Cord goes a different direction, combining some classic manufactured objects, produced in the same factory for generations, with a well curated selection of modern items. They have a rotating selection of home office and art tools, decorative and functional items for the home, gifts, Snow Peak items. If you are looking for well designed contemporary objects, or classically designed ones that inform them, or you need a gift for a creative person, who might be you, take a look at Cord.
