It is with deep regret that I heard they suddenly closed their doors in December. I had one of my finest meals in Portland at this restaurant. It was a private dinner last year and there was an unbelievable array of tasty dishes served with style. It was clear that this place was special and run by someone who cared about their craft. They had the most delicious seletion of desserts and I almost killed(I jest) my husband when he came back with a fruit tart because they ran out of their chocolate creations. You can’t be laid back when ordering dessert! I hope Chef Tucker lands on his feet and finds another place in Portland to showcase his talents. I will be keeping an eye out. He owes me a chocolate dessert!

The vegetable quiche is to DIE for. The service is wonderful!!! The folks were SO very accommodating — we arrived past 3pm on a weekday past their lunchtime slot. The hostess immediately went to the kitchen and asked if the staff was willing to serve us… and indeed they did! What a crew!!! The pastries are divine — so definitely DEVOUR anything your belly begs for!

It isn’t outstanding, but it is good. We went for a late breakfast. The restaurant is in a beautifully renovated Victorian on Hawthorne. It’s at the end of the trendy section so parking isn’t hard to find. I was told the building used to house a vegetarian restaurant and is now Chef Tucker’s. It can best be described as an upscale breakfast joint. An egg and bacon croissant will set you back about 9 bucks. It was good but not incredible. The review about the egg benedict was the same; yummy but not divine. We tried some of the baked goods and they were tasty. They serve different types of coffee, are generous with refills, and the servers and staff seem to enjoy their work and are gracious. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back but I would go if somebody else wanted to eat there.
