They’re just great, good prices on tools and tool repair. Some of the young guys need better customer service skills like relaying information to others, but the old hands will get them there.

Remember the old days when service meant something. It still does at Charles H. Day I have bought tools and supplies and have had tools repaired here. This place is great. Repairs are reasonably priced, turn around time is quick. Because they fix what they sell they know the tools inside and out and their advice is great.
There are many other good stores in PDX for buying tools. However, my experience is that once you buy something and you have a problem, they don’t want to deal with you. They send you to Charles Day. Why not just buy it the first time from Charles?
Have you ever (hopefully not) been to a big box store and asked someone the difference between two tools and the inexperienced staff starts reading the labels on the box? This doesn’t happen at Charles Day. Every buy something like from Home Depot and discover they don’t carry the accessories, and they don’t even want to be bothered? Doesn’t happen at Charles Day. Every buy a tool, take it home and it works like shit. This won’t happen at Charles Day. They only sell quality stuff. Buy it there, if anything happens, they’ll take care of you.
I value service, customer care, honesty, knowledgeable staff and local ownership. If you do too, go support this business.
And they are bike friendly.

Excellent prices. You’re taking to an actual service technician at the counter. They’re friendly, they smile (!), human approachable. Wonderful product selection… never again am I buying a tool at HomeDepot, Lowes, or the general hardware stores.

I love that there is still a place in Portland that fixes nearly all brands of tools. I took my Metabo VSR drill into the repair department and they removed my damaged chuck and offered to repair it while I waited. Couldn’t have asked for better service! Great work and I’ll come here the next time I have a power tool in need of repair.
