Cats in The City

Me and my cat, Henrietta are big fans of cats in the city. Recently, I had a nice conversation with Shawn, who informed me due to matting my long haired Persian needed to start the new year shaved :(
Obviously perturbed, I relinquished control because he said he couldn’t do the job without making my kitty uncomfortable, which I absolutely respected he took the time to call and let me know instead of torturing her. Although she was shaved, Henrietta returned with the cutest lion/​teddy bear cut, I dropped all my belongings when I arrived home and laughed when I saw her. anyway, she now has a standing appointment for grooming every 6 weeks so we can grow her fur again, and I have complete trust in Shawn and the cats in the city staff to keep her looking gorgeous !

This place is just the best. We took our cat here because we didn’t want to traumatize her by taking her to a regular busy and loud dog/​cat groomer. Cats in the city has a very nice relaxing atmosphere, perfect for cats! These guys did such a great job grooming our kitty. We brought her in with many mats and they bathed her and brushed out her under coat her and got rid of all her mats. She is such a happy and agile kitty now. Our kitty has been so happy ever since. They also informed us how to avoid getting mats in the future and we are definitely bringing her back to be groomed a few times every year. They did an amazing and thorough job, our cat is very thankful!

Cats in the City are the absolute best! Not only did they take amazing care of our 2 cats (at our house!!), they helped us out with less than a day’s notice when we found out one of our cats was very sick and need daily attention and meds administered. They posted photos and kept us in the loop on how the cats were doing. I highly recommend their expertise to anyone that needs care for their cats!

Have been taking my Maine coon cat to cats in the city for deshedding for a couple years now. They are wonderful. He comes home happy and looking handsome. I’m so glad I found them. (When I used to take him to the pet store for grooming he always came home stressed and the only thing they could do was shave him. Even my other cats shunned him when he came home from the pet store groomers).

Our baby looks fabulous. After our move she was looking a little haggard. After seeing Shawn at cats in the city she looks and smells terrific! I swear the bath and brushing and trim took 10 years off her pretty face! She looks so youthful and fresh :) we love it! We will surely be back. Thanks Shawn!

Cats in the City got me out of a real jam. We had just been to the vet with a bladder infection and next day had a death in the family and needed to get out of town. I called a few places and they were full, being the 4^th of July weekend and I got a hold of Cats in the City and *BAM* — Yes, we have one room left and Yes, we can deal with the needed daily medications and extra attention needed.
I only worried once or twice while out of state for six days and that is not a lot for me. I got a call when something was up and we were able to troubleshoot over the phone. I could not be happier with Cats in the City! Great service, great and convenient hours and my little fur-​ball was very well taken care of. I am happy, cat is happy, life is good.

In the middle of a move, four cats with fleas and have your car break down? Hope you didn’t book with this company, because they couldn’t care less about your business. I had to call 4 times during business hours just to make the appointment, and then when I called to reschedule after my car breaking down (with my cats inside!) on the morning of (I’m waiting for the tow truck now) I’m asked if I’ll accept an outrageously priced shuttle to keep the appointment. I answer that I can’t afford it but would love to reschedule for the next day and they guy coldly responds «well then we won’t reschedule with you then, I’m sure you understand.» I say i don’t in any way understand and he says «we don’t want to risk you canceling again, so we don’t want your business» and hangs up after saying «thanks for choosing cats in the city» your welcome, as if I would give your cold callous business my kitties. What a joke.
**Since this post above I have been called several times, and he has changed his message to me. To assume because «I can pay for his service I can pay for a shuttle» is absurd as I budgeted towards this appointment and was currently over spending on getting my car TOWED. These people are petty and unprofessional and are harassment. I remind Daniel that his fake conversations between us and name calling is not just rude, rude is easy, but Slanderous and being slanderous is illegal. Please tread lightly when dealing with this company. However many times you change your post, know that its being recorded and people are seeing your treatment of someone who gave you a bad review.

We had them pet-​sit our two cats for what ended up being a two-​and-​a-​half week long cross-​country road trip to Georgia and back, and they were superb. From the moment we first met Dan, I could tell he was a cat person; even the shyer of our two cats took to him at once, a rarity. He was great at communicating with us and very flexible when we had various schedule changes. When our cats had some stomach issues and had vomited several times around the house, he called us to let us know, and we were able to easily arrange an overnight visit to help calm our poor kitties’ nerves. Overall, Dan was phenomenal and I could not recommend Cats in the City highly enough. I felt confident leaving our babies alone with them during our trip, and would do so again in the future (though hopefully not for so long next time!).

Took my senior cat to cat in the city well I was gone for 4 days to give him a break from the four month old kitten driving I’m not home. Friend this is I’m going to keep this simple and short these guys are simply amazing the house is amazing the care is amazing and I will never ever go anywhere else again.

These guys are magicians. Brought in my very old cat for grooming. She can’t clean past her shoulders anymore due to a back injury — and I’ve never had a cat groomed before. I figured they would need to shave everything. Instead, they got each dread lock out individually and the cat looks 5 years younger (and smells a heck of a lot better). She wet her carrier on the way there, and the sweatshirt I had in there for comfort was set-​aside in a bag for me and replaced with a pad designed to soak up urine (which was good because she did it on the ride home again) — which was an unexpected consideration that I appreciated very much. Super nice guy. On time. On budget. Work exceeded expectations. Easy to drop off and pick up. Can’t say enough good things about them.

Our long haired kitty Alma is getting older and can’t quite get her cleaning duties done as well as she is used to. She has started to developed mats and gets a little agitated sometimes when touched. We took her in to see Shawn and he examined and recommended a short teddy bear cut. We were so excited to see the results. Alma looks amazing and she seems much more comfortable. She may be feeling a cooling breeze she hasn’t felt in a while. :-) The dog literally didn’t recognize her.

I’ve been bringing my long haired furball here for a few years and am always happy with the result! When I recently screwed up an appointment time, and showed up unexpected on their doorstep at 8 am, Cats in the City were still happy to groom my cat. I appreciate good customer service like this, even when I think it might have been my fault. We’ll be seeing them again next year for the summer buzz cut :)

We took our long-​haired cat, Joy, to Cats in the City for a dematting/​deshedding, nail trim, and bath on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Shawn did a fantastic job — we couldn’t be happier with the results. Joy looks beautiful with her fur all calm, soft, smoothe and clean. Joy seems much happier, cooler and content since the grooming. I highly recommend Shawn and Cats in the City. I know that we will return for future grooming sessions. In addition, this is an excellent location, a beautiful house, and Shawn was very friendly and caring. We also appreciate the convenient Saturday hours and availability.

We used Cats in the City to care for our 2 cats while we were out of town for 10 days. This was our first time using a pet sitting service for our cats, mostly because we prefer to have close friends who are familiar with our pets and home watch them. We realized that this was kind of an inconvenience to our friends and finally decided to try a pet sitter. I’m so glad we did, because the cats did so well under their care and our home remained in excellent condition. They even watered my garden!
From here on out, we will refrain from bugging our friends to cats sit and just have Cats in the City do it. Thank you guys!

So far the customer service has been great! Shawn is a dear on the phone and asked many helpful questions. I will review again after the actual vacation/​cat-​sitting.
The company also got good personal reviews from a competing company that wasn’t available for my days.

OHHHHHHH where to begin.
i am VERY protective over my 3 cats, if i was any older (and a woman) id definitely be «that» cat lady.
I recently had to make the trek back home to arizona for the holidays and had been frantically trying to make arrangements for Barbarella, Sergio, and Martin.
A friend of a friend recommended Cats in the City.

From my first interaction, Shawn was more than professional, i felt like i could really trust him. I knew my babies would be safe in his care.
When i got home, i think the cats were more sad to leave than happy to see me.
Also, i was very happy with the grooming i requested. Shawn took very accurate notes as to what i wanted, and the cats look PERFECT.
I definitely recommend these boarders. They are very professional, prompt, respectful, and the location is very clean.

I had my cat get a lion cut from my veterinarians office because he had some matting that I couldn’t control no matter how much I brushed him. The vet did a horrible job on his shave. I called up Shawn at Cats in the City, he gave me a great deal for just a touch up. Much better than I expected for results. Quick, polite and professional.

We’ve been using Cats in the City for several years now and have nothing but good things to say about them. After several years of mediocre to poor kennel experiences, we were shopping around for a new place and stumbled across Cats in the City. Our cat is 15 years old and has a slightly complicated diet due to some health issues. The folks at Cats in the City listened to all our needs, asked a few questions and were able to provide everything we needed. We also like that the place *feels* like a home instead of a sterile kennel. Our cat always comes home healthy and well adjusted. We’re looking forward to doing business with them again on our next trip!

I did my first review of Cats in the City with a lot of unjustified anger. I hope to correct that with a more accurate review.
Less than a month after moving in, we had a 10 day business trip. Cats in The City cared for the 6 cats with an automatic food and water dispenser for those ten days. When we arrived home from our trip, it was to a less than ideal situation. The kitties used my grandmother’s kitchen table among other non-​litterbox spaces to urinate. The house smelled strongly of ammonia and I was upset. I spent several weeks cleaning.
After my first review here, Shawn contacted me and we hashed out quite a few issues. It was tense and we got a lot off our chests. I appreciate his direct approach and we have agreed to make a better plan for next time to ensure we do not have the same sorts of problems.
Areas of improvement for me include better relation of my expectations and more follow-​up if our travel is delayed. Also, increase the amount of food and litter pans I provide to the folks caring for our pets when we travel. My cats clearly have different needs when we are away and I did not do a good job preparing Shawn.
Areas of improvement for Cats in the City are letting us know when the last visit occurs so we have the proper expectation of litter pan fullness. I also have asked for more updates if the kitties use the bathroom outside of the litter-​box more than what we consider an average amount (once a week). A debrief of some kind after the trip would have helped clear up a lot of concerns. I expected Cats in the City to initiate this conversation and they expected me to initiate.
Hard lessons learned but things will be better next time.

Rachel is awesome!!! We have used her to come to our home and care for our cat several times when we have gone away. Everything has been just the way we want it. Our cat is happy, the mail is in, garden is watered and the house is safe.
We are grateful for her service and help with our beloved furry friend and highly recommend her. Thank you!!!
