We have radiant heat in our 1940’s house and had a total loss of heat. I noticed water seeping from under our newer tile floor near our boiler and almost zero pressure registering on the gauge. I came to Unilocal with the hope of finding a contractor, and although Casebeer’s profile had no reviews, I could tell they were qualified based on the complexity of the installations in their profile pics. It happened to be a holiday when I called Greg(Casebeer) and he was out of town, but he spent the better part of an hour on the phone with me diagnosing the problem and having me text him pics. When he returned to town on a Sunday(after a long flight), he came over to our house right away. He refilled the system with water and used an infrared imager to locate the leak below our tile floor. This enabled him to have to chip out only one tile(12″ x 24″) to access the faulty connection which had cracked. He made the repair, cleaned the sludge out of the system and also taught me a lot about radiant heating systems in the process — I referred to him as the mad scientist of radiant heat and boilers. He told me that the pumps that someone had installed were way too big for our system and although they moved a lot of water, were moving it very inefficiently and didn’t have enough«lift» to push the water up to our attic, where the pipes run to our living room at the far end of our house. I had him quote me for new pumps, but was able to find them cheaper online. Greg actually encouraged me to buy them online and he would install them once they arrived. While he was there, I actually had him drop a gas line into an existing fireplace so I could install an insert. Overall, the experience was great and I would absolutely not hesitate to give Greg a call with any issues related to boiler furnaces or radiant systems. Super knowledgeable and good work.
