My favorite bead necklace was broken… «Sniff». All it’s pretty black freshwater pearls lay mouldering in a Ziplock bag for a couple of years. The blisteringly hot weather 2 days ago made me go to seek out afternoon activities that might include air conditioning. I went to Caravan Beads to restring the poor thing. Molly(super nice) helped me with all aspects of the repair. She suggested a few design changes that were real improvements. When it was finished my necklace was prettier than ever. I’m posting a picture in the photo section… Love this store. Thank you Molly

This bead store was one of the reasons I traveled to Portland ME in the first place. I don’t remember details 100%, but this bead store is huge and had a pretty gigantic selection of loose beads when I was there. The wall of strands of beads wasn’t anything to laugh at either, and I remember a good number of wooden beads as well as a fairly good amount of trade beads. The rest were glass and gemstone if I remember correctly. When I was browsing through the store, it took at least an hour because there was just so many czech singles to look through. I don’t remember much about their seed bead selection but I’m positive they had some because I do have some tubes with their label on them. Their tool selection seemed also to be pretty fair and they also had a pretty large variety of threads to choose from as well. It was fairly busy when I went so I can only say that the staff were attentive and friendly from a third hand perspective. Prices seemed fair when I was there, and given the chance I’d definitely go back and will plan to do so if I get lucky enough to end up in that part of Maine again.
