Bullseye Glass Co

This is one of my favorite places. it has such a variety of colors and textures of glass. All of the glass very good quality. And they cycle through it often, so new colors and mixes come in all the time. The warehouse is the size of the city block and it is filled with all kinds of different glass. So if you like to work with glass, this is the place to go. I have not found any better. The prices are high and it’s hard to bargain hunt here because the system they use for pricing isn’t very straightforward.

This shop is amazing! !! Great inventory, amazing glass blowers, exceptional & educated staff. I am a local mosaic artist and purchase all my glass & glass supplies here. The price is reasonable, a bit higher than some other glass shops but well worth the $ when you factor in the quality of the glass. I am a loyal customer and definite fan of this local business. I would recommend it to anyone, anytime for sure!

The glass masters in Portland. Their class space, offices, and factory take up a city block, and Portlanders are blessed to have them here. Quality COE 90 product, informed staff, fantastic classes and workshops, free demos, and a wonderful store with a gallery upstairs. If you are working in glass, Bullseye is fantastic for fusing, torchworking, coldworking and beyond. We are SO fortunate to have them here. Their glass is worth every penny, and priced fairly for the quality and research that goes into the creation of their medium.

Knowledgable staff, classes, and plenty of supplies! They also offers a ton of free information & tutorials online.

Don’t break anything. But look at everything. The upstairs galley is amazing, and the overlook to the studio is mesmerizing. I highly recommend just walking through the shop, even if you don’t buy anything, tons of eye candy to make you want to be a glassblower.

Sadly, the class I signed up for was cancelled due to low enrollment. Naturally they refunded my class fee, but I already bought my non-​refundable airline ticket! Bullseye glass is still the best and as far as I’m concerned the only source of quality art glass and I’ll continue using their products. But I’m very disappointed and unhappy about the cancellation and I will be very cautious about signing up in the future. I was excited to see the place where the glass is actually made. Big sigh…

This place is so amazingly cool! If you’ve never been in a glass store, you need to go! I’m here with my mom at least twice a year for their glass sales. They have an amazing variety of different kinda of glass, tools, glass molds and other things. The great part is, that all the glass is made there too.
Not only do they sell glass and everything that goes with it, they have a ton of classes that you can take and learn how to work with glass and make things. It is well worth the time and money to take a class. The people in there taking the classes are fun, and the people who teach them are so friendly and nice.
I love working with glass because it’s such a cool art form that not a lot of people know how to work with. This is just a cool place to look around.

As far as borosilicate glass suppliers go, you literally can’t beat going to the factory itself. These guys have an ever-​expanding selection of amazing glass products for all heated-​glass workers: rods, stringers, frit, shatters, cut-​formed bits, sheets, part sheets, designed sheets, experimental sheets, experimental rods, even micro-​stringers and odd little design elements — all tested to be compatible with everything else they sell.
*And* they teach classes in beadmaking (torchwork), fusing, printing, experimenting, reactions, advanced techniques, blah blah blah. Once you’ve taken a class, you’re welcomed back during any of their Open Studio times (which are ridiculously dirt-​cheap, considering how much equipment and supplies they give you access to during studio time). Until I figure out the engineering required to set up my own home studio, I’m in there every month working on new beads for $ 10 an hour (glass included!). [Note: glass not included for fusing studio time.]
All the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and generally pretty funny too. All of them I’ve talked to are working glass artists so they’re far more familiar with their product than anyone should expect of a retail operation, but it’s a godsend to amateurs and professionals alike who can get real insight into what would work and what might not.

I have used Bullseye Glass for my artwork for years. The colors are beautiful and the sales reps are all outstanding detail oriented people.

There are a few world class businesses homed in Portland. Included would be the advertising agency, the big shoe company, an architect, a green developer, maybe a few others.
Bullseye Glass is one. Their closest rivals are the centuries-​old factories of Venice’s Murano Island. Bullseye formulates glass in sheets, spaghetti-​like stringers and powders that all melt at the same temperature. That means if you are a crafter or artist you can mix and match, throw it in a kiln, and it won’t go wacky.
I have been fortunate, by connection with a staff friend, to observe artists in the factory. The Bullseye factory operates 24×7×365. They cannot turn off the furnaces. When the new building was built they made it around operating furnaces! Tear down existing building and build new around it while operating! With the schedule, international artists are invited to work in the factory on 3 day holidays when everybody is off with the owners assisting as staff. I saw, it is cool!
But the best thing about Bullseye are their classes.
I took the first two fusing and slumping classes. I was as scared as anyone to cut glass. Uh oh, it might break! They taught me how, and we’re talking bumpy, funky glass. You design, cut and melt together a few tests and projects, in their super computer-​controlled kilns. They also have lampworking classes for making beads and sculptures, and coldworking, grinding and polishing.
Best of all, the projects you make you wouldn’t be ashamed to give as gifts to the parentals!
The classes aren’t cheap, but you get something usable, even beautiful, in the end. Once you’ve taken classes you can rent time by the hour in the studio with all the gear (and the electric bill) you don’t have at home.
Their website has a ton of reference information and how-​to. But you owe yourself a trip to the gallery in the Pearl District to see what can be made and to the shop, studio and factory in SE to see the materials and the instruction area.
And the best thing about glass? It’s archival, maintaining its color and form for a few thousand years!
If you want to take a fusing or lampworking glass class, take it here. They have the best knowledge, the best equipment and a warehouse of material to work into your projects.

This is my ‘glass church’. I can go in here and live for hours, just running back and forth with glass samples and placing them on the huge light box of a wall while dreaming of what I’m going to create next. For that alone, I have to thank the kind staff for not calling in law enforcement or someone from the local facility to strap me down and haul me out. They maintain a huge assortment of art glass in sheets, frit, stringer, confetti and billets, as well as lots of tools, books and gear. They offer tours of their facilities where they create their glass, and have a huge studio area where they offer classes and where I hope to spend many stray weeks of my life.
