What a fantastic place! I tend to get a bit frustrated with long waits for tables but I can honestly say Broder was well worth it. I wanted everything on the menu — seriously. Our table got a random mix of things, but my favorites were the Swedish Plate, the Fried a oysters, and those delicious little pancake ball things with lingonberries. Wow everything was delicious. Would love to come back here next time I’m in Portland(and maybe sit in one of those cute beehive tables?!)

They’re packed but the wait list moves quick. The open face sandwich was interesting. Not a huge portion but it was satisfying and light. The pickled veggies added a stringent brightness while the simple salad brought the fiber. Friend had the potato pancake as her side that was paired w/the baked egg scramble. There’s very little fish scattered in the scramble but it looked fluffy. She had leftovers. Inexpensive meal served by a friendly staff. Lots of parking outside.

Tiny yet cute brunch place. At first I wasn’t sure about this place. It is very unassuming based on the actual layout, however their food is impressive. We sat outside to enjoy the weather. We ordered the baked eggs with mushrooms and asparagus, the Lost Eggs, and the Danish pancakes. My favorite was the Danish pancakes. They come out fluffy and warm with a side lemon curd and berry jam.

I came here after doing some research on good brunch places in Portland. I was visiting Portland for the weekend. Parking is pretty easy to find — just residential parking. It was odd to me to find restaurants in the middle of neighborhoods, since I’m not used to that in Seattle. Nevertheless, we came at around 11am and put our name down on the list. There were a couple no shows, and also groups that weren’t all there, so we got sat at around 11:30(they require the whole party to be there to be sat). We ordered the lost eggs, and the Swedish hash. The food took a whiiiile to come to us. I think around five tables for sat around the same time, so the kitchen for swamped. It took maybe another 25 minutes after ordering to get our food. The style of Scandinavian food was new to us — there’s not too much salt in the food. You can obviously add salt/pepper or hot sauce to your liking, but my husband and I thought that without salt, it brought out the flavors of the actual food! Very tasty!

Service was great but waited really long for an outside table for 6 but there was also one bench. Food was good but won’t wait that long again for it. Definitely a place for groups of 4 or less. The Danish pancakes were my favorite!

The food was delicious, the service was great but I wish they had a better way of organizing the wait list, maybe like a text system? We waited two hours to get seated and if I knew the wait would have been that long I would have eaten something before hand or gone somewhere else. But just like everyone else has said, The Danish pancakes are a must try.

Very trendy Portland style Swedish food It’s ok, the only option for Swedish in Portland but be ready to wait. The dishes are Swedish themed but not very authentic. After having lived in Gothenburg I had a strong craving for Pyttipanna, Broder’s version was ok, but not really amazing and a small portion. Not quite bad enough for an «I don’t like it». When you get there you can wait next door and have coffee. The street is cool so you can explore if you want. We had a long wait.

Amazing. I’ve never had Danish pancakes before and my first Time experience was a great one. Surprisingly it’s not too sweet which is great. The round pancakes are fluffy ans has a nice crust in its outer part from the cooking. It comes with lemon curd and lingonberry jam to give it some flavor, tartness and texture. I ordered a side of pork sausage that is perfect with the grainy mustard and pickled onion. It’s delicious and I totally recommend it with the pancakes. It provides some saltiness along with the sweetness! The service is fantastic too! The cooks work hard and do a great job coordinating the cooking. One is plate prepping, one is handling the coffee and bar section, and another is cooking from scratch! It’s a beautiful thing to watch. Grab the bar seat because that’s where the aromas and action happen!

Showed up at 10:30am for brunch but we didn’t get seated till an hour and a half later. However, when we finally got our food it was delicious! I think the wait here is always pretty long but well worth it! I got the braised beef and ham hash and aebleskivers(Danish pancakes)! The hash was delicious but the pancakes blew my mind! So bomb! The lemon curd and the lingonberry jam was the perfect combo with the pancakes. It’s a must try when you’re here!

Our party came on a Sunday morning and the wait was an hour. We were all pretty hangry from our hike, so we devoured our food. The restaurant is really small, so if you have a smaller party, you’ll probably be seated a lot quicker. We ordered the Danish pancakes and the lost eggs. The pancakes were really good! The berry jam and lemon curd were perfect with each little fluffy ball. The lost eggs were cooked in a skillet and served with a side of toast and sweet butter. I liked the saltiness from the ham and the cheese, and my bf really liked this dish. It’s a good spot for brunch, but it’s not worth more than a 30 minute wait.

Like everything in Portland, the wait is absurd. Tried going on Sunday morning for brunch and was told there would be a 2 hour wait. So I showed up at 9am on a Monday and there was a 45 minute wait. Why??? And they don’t allow you to call ahead or make a reservation. We decided to stick it out and wait the 45 minutes and eventually we got a table. The food was good, but not phenomenal. We ordered the lost eggs, the Danish pancakes, and the smoked trout baked eggs. The lost eggs were the best — delicious veggies and perfectly cooked eggs with slightly runny yolk. The baked eggs were a little too dry for my taste. The Danish pancakes were good, but nothing special.

Oh. My. Gosh. After coming back from Iceland, Matt and I have been craving for some Nordic fare. We looked high and low and found Broder, and it was DELICIOUS. We woke up super early on a Sunday because our puppy woke us up. Well, what are you gonna do when your dog’s gone back to sleep and it’s 8 a.m. Gear up fro Brunch! We got there a little past 9 a.m. and there wasn’t a wait! Matt ordered a Danish Mary and I ordered a Swedish coffee. The alcohol is STRONG in the Swedish Coffee, and it has a very distinctive licorice taste. While I am not a fan of licorice, the more coffee I drank, the less complaints I had… We ordered Danish pancake and Smorrebrod to share. The Danish pancakes are the best things ever! These little fluffy dough balls were awesome with lemon curd and lingonberry jam! We missed the pickled herring from Iceland a lot, that’s why we decided to get the Smorrebrod with pickled herring, smoked trout, and bay shrimps. I have to say, they were pretty good, especially with the tart mustard to cut the sweet, fishy taste. Though, somehow I remember the pickled herring being better in Iceland. The toasts underneath was a little bit on the dry/hard side, but maybe that’s just how it goes in the north! I ordered the Swedish hash with smoked trout and Matt ended up with the Lost Egg. When we placed the order, we were met with doubtful eyes from our waiter. He did not believe that we could finish all of our food! The Lost Egg was super delicious — I loved the parmesan panko crust, adding a little crunch to an otherwise soft dish. BUT, I have to say that my smoked trout has was even better! I enjoyed the gooey egg yolk running down from the square eggs, and the dish was moist and tasty. Would definitely come back for it again! We ended up taking home about 3 Danish pancakes but finished the rest of our meals. Mission accomplished!

Scandanavian food is something I am absolutely unfamiliar with. Decided to come here on a whim, and I’m not going to lie, the cute individual skillets were definitely a perk. Teehee. We came here on a Saturday morning for brunch and there were about 5 people ahead of us. I like that they had coffee pots and cups set outside that you can help yourself to(they charge you when you get inside) because it can get cold while you wait. We waited a total of 25mins. Service was prompt, the servers here are really nice! We originally got bar seating but when an available table freed up the server let us move to the table. Another server came by and explained the menu for us he was comical with his responses and really lax. I ended up getting the lavender jasmine tea and the cod hash. Servings here are proportionate. The trout hash comes in a single serve skillet on a wooden board; tiny bits of potatoe are diced with green bell peppers and purple cabbage and onion with generous chunks of the smoked fish. This is then all topped with two sunny side up eggs and served with seeded toast. The presentation was great and the flavored melded well, the meal was not overpowering or greasy. The tea was really aromatic and potent. Highly recommend this place!

I’ve had the Danish pancakes, the lost eggs, and the ham & cheese baked egg scramble. The space is cute and so is the food, but I don’t think it’s worth the 1.5 hour wait to get in. The eggs in my lost eggs were poached hard(aka hard boiled) when I had asked before ordering it if the eggs in that dish came runny. Obviously it was an execution error. I waited for somebody to check in with me to ask if the dish was okay and nobody came over! I didn’t have a chance to ask them to make new eggs. I ended up eating around the hard boiled egg yolks in this otherwise not impressive dish. I thought the Danish pancakes were alright, but I’m not a huge pancake fan. The baked egg scramble was the best thing I ate there. Summary: I waited a cumulative 4.5 hours(over 3 visits) to eat Danish pancakes, two hard boiled eggs in a mess of spinach and cream(basically unpureed steakhouse creamed spinach), and a baked egg scramble. I’d rather have my time back.

So delicious! We breezed in at 9:30 during the weekday. I heard about the long waits here and now I understand why. This place is tiny by most standards. Took about 15 mins for our server to stop by the table and maybe half hour to get our food. That’s ok since I was in no time rush. Don’t go there with an appointment after, this place is for a small group and leisurely breakie. We sat and I got to see the open kitchen. Loved watching them bring out dish after dish of perfectly looking breakfasts. This is definitely not your sloppy greasy spoon breakfast, quite the opposite, but all the ingredients are quality and you will not disappointed. I had to try the lost eggs, it was everything I had wished for. Slight salty from the ham, creamy sauce, balanced with spinach and perfectly baked eggs, and a cheesy crunchy, was that panko crumb top. It’s definitely a once in a while thing, but so good. I also tried the Danish panckaes because why not? There were about half a dozen perfectly round balls, brown and crispy on the outside pancakes… almost like donut holes. They were so yummy and came with lemon curd and lingonberry jam. I thought they were great but the price was a little steep. This place is pretty small so come early or expect a wait. It’ll definitely be worth it though.

Broder is an amazing brunch option in Portland. I love their Scandinavian fare. Food is delicious and service is friendly. Solstice bord: a deconstructed dream come true. Ham, hard and soft cheeses, soft boiled egg, nut and yogurt parfait, brown bread, rye crisp. sweet and savory perfection all on one adorable board. Ebelskivers: delicious Danish pancakes with lemon curd and lingonberry jam. I loved the soft and fluffy pancake and the sweet and tangy flavors of the toppings. Definitely recommend. Overall love the food at Broder. The service was friendly and prompt. I would love to come in the future and try the Swedish meatballs!

Dang, this place is good. We’ve been in Portland for two weeks and decided to take an orange MAX train yesterday, get off at a random unplanned stop, and find something new to eat. Our journey in the pouring rain led us to Broder, and it was well worth it. First thing — this place is PACKED. We arrived at 2:15pm on a Sunday and people were still waiting outside. Our wait was short, and we walked in the door to a small dining area crammed with tables. No problem, I don’t mind being cozy, but it did make it really loud and difficult to carry on a conversation in there. Our waitress was friendly and took our order of the lefse with cured ham and farmer’s cheese with two soft boiled eggs and a salad in addition to a Swedish breakfast. WOW. I feel like the quality and quantity of food that we got actually fit what we paid here, which is a first in our Portland experience. DH’s Swedish breakfast was a ton of food, well-prepared, and delicious. My lefse looking deceptively small, but one I made it past the salad and started to dig in to the delicious layers of cured ham, cheese, and crispy lefse, I found it to be incredibly filling. Very good flavors throughout the dish, though I particularly loved the vinaigrette on the salad. All in all, a great experience. Very good food at a reasonable price — you just have to put up with screaming at your foody friend over all the noise.

SCANDINAVIANBREAKFAST. I had no idea what to expect, except maybe some swedish meatballs and fish paste… for breakfast… Oh little did I know. Broder was the first food spot we hit up in Portland and we were extremely hungry with an hour+ wait to be seated. Portland is STUMPTOWN city, so they had free Stumptown coffee as you wait. A nice touch, most definitely. We got… Bloody Mary — Spicy. Strong. Beer is, by default, part of the bloody mary mix, so G. G & good morning to you too. Smørrebrød — Beautiful variety of smoked fish on toast. This dish is on the lighter side(I knew I would be eating my face off in Portland, so I picked this). It was light, visually pretty and delicious. I got to chose 3: gravlax(cured salmon), smoked trout, and pickled herring. If you’re a smoked fish lover, DOIT! It was delightful. Stockholm HotDog — JY and I had no idea what to expect from a Scandinavian Hot dog. Seriously, what comes to mind? It was a super delicious dog with pickled onions and a potato pancake INSIDE lavash bread, the pickled onions were reminiscent of sauerkraut. So amazing. Smoked Trout Chowder — Pffffffffffffffffffffft. Seriously, blows your lame ass clam chowder out of the water. This was the shit. Very excellent. A+ unique brunch!

Wow just wow! I’ve been hearing about this place for quite some time now and finally had a day to come for breakfast/brunch. When we came the place was packed– we had to wait next door in a waiting area they had set up. After about 10 – 15 minute wait, we were seated inside at the bar. Our waiter was very nice and took our order along with giving us a few suggestions on what was good. We had a first hand view of how they make all the food so that was pretty neat! We ordered mimosas, aebleskivers and the Frlorade gg(lost eggs). Everything was simply amazing. The aebleskivers were hot and fresh and delicious with the cream, lemon curd and jam. The eggs came in a small skillet and was literally bubbling fresh out the oven. It was a delicious mix of eggs, cheese, ham and spinach– like nothing I’ve ever had before. This was one of the best meals I’ve had to date and I am really looking forward to returning!!!
