Hate to say it, but lately customer service has been lazy at the PDX Beach Shack. Two weeks ago I was at PDX and went to the Beach Shack and wanted to sit in the restaurant and have breakfast. The hostess greeted me and immediately got me to a table and stated the server would be with me in less then a minute. Well, after 5 minutes I tried to get the attention of her. A couple minutes later, I tried again to get the server’s attention. There was only ONE other table with customers in the restaurant at that time. I finally got up and left since she was ignoring me and couldn’t believe that a server ignored a customer Then yesterday, I returned to Beach Shack but at the front when to go orders are placed. I wanted to sit at their front end and have their French toast which is very good and orders either to take out or eat at the front are received within five minutes. When I ordered breakfast, the gal asked me what I would like and told her and then she did the same just a few seconds later which I should have revognized as a red flag. Since I have always had fast service in the front before, I thought I was going to eat a great breakfast. After 10 minutes, my meal still had not been received and several other customers who ordered after me, had received their orders. I went over and asked why it was taking so long. The gal forgot to give my order to the cook. She apologized and said my meal would be right up but I was pissed for another poor customer service from them and told her to just give me my money back as I didn’t have time to stay and eat. She went to get her supervisor which even more time. When he arrived, he apologized and asked if I wanted to wait but I said no and to just refund my money. The meal was finally received as a to go but I told the gal who took my order and screwed up that AGAIN I did not want the meal. It is strange that there have been so many people including myself who have had either bad experiences or food that has been below expected and advertised standards. I am unsure at this time whether I will return. There are many other good restaurants serving breakfast.

Great food and seriously… they have food specials«happy hour» in the airport? How cool is that!

Don’t eat here unless you like microwaved food. Orders the biscuit breakfast sandwich and despite waiting 10 mins for what I thought was a fresh made biscuit, I got a soggy on the bottom dried out biscuit. Spend your money and your time elsewhere.

In oldie days eating at Airport restaurants would be like eating hospital food. Then the invention of compassion for fellow man came around and everything changed. Beaches is a restaurant slash surf museum. I don’t know how it correlates with Portland, but I’m glad I found it. Service, well Sarah F. Was my server and she was cheerful, friendly and exuberant about her job. Wow, big tip for her!!! I had the billon calorie Moco Loco, a dish known for Hawaiians not Portlandiers. It also tasted very traditional, a bit over salted, but filling and good. Now off to see the TSA with a smile on my face.

Convenient. But pretty sure it gave both my husband and I upset stomachs before our weekend vacation(not fun). I’ll probably go elsewhere for my next pre-flight meal.

Sushi was absolutely terrible, which is sad because the bartender even promoted it like it was the best. I also had a pulled pork slider, meh not impressed with it either. I will say if you have to eat here, the one thing I did have and would order again was the fish taco… I have had better, but it was the best thing I had. being happy hour, I ordered a few different things because they offered small portions. 1 slider, 1 fish taco, sushi roll, and some deep fried roll which was also terrible. I’d give one star but the fish taco wasn’t bad and the bartender was pretty nice. The beer was also delicious!

I seem to end up here every time I arrive at PDX. There’s nothing special or out of the ordinary in regards to the food and drinks, but I think the staff is what makes it stand out. Plus they do let you taste test a beer before making it, just to make sure you get what you like. Overall, a good place to pre-game, if you know what I mean.

Does anyone really think it’s a good idea to try sushi from this place? I guess my buddy did and he immediately regretted it. Safeway grade sushi with the old, refrigerated rice. I had the steak salad. so underwhelming. And the french toasted was raved by our waitress… it was aiite. The seafood chowder and burger were also given a major«meh» review by my friends. I think the only item which was given a thumbs up was their Hot Monkey Bloody Mary. Now that was a tasty drink.

This was a pretty good spot(as far as airport restaurants are concerned) to grab some breakfast. The fiancé and I both got the french toast with a side of eggs. Both were good. Not great but good. The service was friendly and the décor was cute — incredibly beachy — which was welcome after experiencing Portland’s snowiest weekend ever. My only big complaint is that my fiancé picked up a container of 2% milk to go with his breakfast and it was spoiled. My guess is that the container that they keep it in is not cold enough. TL;DR — This is a decent spot if you want some breakfast in PDX but I would not visit this restaurant if it weren’t inside an airport.

A very convenient place, just inside of the airport entrance, and reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. Freshness isn’t a priority in their refrigerated to go section. Purchased a simple Califonia roll combo with Edamame. The California roll had a strong rotten fish taste, probably from cross contamination, or age. With that, I thought I would move on to the edamame, which unfortunately proved to be slimy on the outside with a sour odor. I wanted to order fresh sushi, but on a Thursday night, the nice girl at the counter told me that they had a extremely long wait for sushi, and suggested I order something else. Nice people and restaurant, which needs to be more diligent with freshness.

Eddie took good care of us… Service was five star, but food was just four stars.

Happy hour prices were good, considering this place is inside the airport. I only snacked on some cajun fries here, but they were damn good! I love skinny fries and these hit the spot. The beer selection is ok, I chose to have some vino instead. All in all, we had a good time here waiting for my flight. The nice thing is, this place is located outside of security.

Breakfast at the beach. It doesn’t matter where you’re flying, if you stop at Beaches at PDX, you’ll be automatically transported to the beach where you can eat seafood and smell tasty kettle corn. I ordered the chicken apple sausages and a blueberry muffin. The sausages were tiny, definitely not worth the price. I would have been better off getting just the muffin. It’s better to stop here if you want a real, intense meal. If you want a light breakfast, there are plenty of other choices at PDX.

Good spot to kill some time before a flight. In the morning, they offer a biscuit with gravy and a cup of coffee for $ 5. Monica, the bartendress, makes a good bloody mary. For an airport bar, they have a decent selection of craft beers.

My french toast was delicious and relatively inexpensive considering this spot is in an airport. Also, I have no reason to complain about the service because it was quick, kind and came with a wink.

The Beach Shack is pretty good for an airport restaurant. We sat by the firepit and it was really warm. After reading the other reviews, I decided to try the stir fry bowl with beef, Chinese firecracker sauce, and yakisoba noodles. It was good but I felt that it had TOOMUCHSAUCE. My wife had the stir fry bowl with rice, prawns and teriyaki sauce. Her dish was way better and I would recommend that instead.

For airport food, it’s surprisingly good. The prices are a little steep, but that’s what you get if you don’t pick Wendy’s for lunch. I had the same thing I had the first time I was here: The tenderloin stirfry with Chinese Fireworks Sauce over Yakisoba. It’s pretty darn good, and the tenderloin is super tender. The wait staff are super nice and attentive. No complaints. Really!

Solid 3 – 3.5 stars. I am glad I wasn’t in a hurry, as I grabbed a seat at the bar. While I was acknowledged early on when preparing to take a running leap into my seat, i was another 5+ minutes before I got the bartenders attention again to get me a glass of water and a menu. Thinking of maybe ordering something more potent, technically I was on the clock. So I stuck it out with my water and glanced at the menu. Their menu has pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads and sushi. They also pride themselves in serving breakfast all day. In decisive I decided on the roasted veggie pizza. And waited. The guy next to me arrived and ordered after me and he got his fish tacos and was done with them before I ever got my pizza. Just as I was about to ask my bartender where my food was(to insure he even put the order in) he came over and assured me it would be out soon and said he should have warned me that pizzas take a while. I don’t know why it took that long. This was a thin crust pizza with roasted veggies and of the veggies on it the peppers, onions and asparagus were roasted(pre roasted). The tomatoes were fresh slices and some fresh chopped, the olives were standard black olives(kalamata would have been nice) and the artichokes were canned hearts. Knowing that and looking at the pizza it shouldn’t have taken that long. OH well it was tasty and I traveled back with my leftovers to enjoy later that evening.
