Here’s the thing: I have never played a sport that requires the use of a bat. Batting A Thousand was a BLAST though. If batting cages could be described as ‘divey’, BAT would fill that niche. The cages were fully functional and had a variety of settings and speeds for both baseball and softball. The few arcade games were outdated, but suitably priced at $ 0.50 a pop. We had a good time on the air hockey table. BRINGYOUROWNQUARTERS. I have never been to other batting cages so calling BAT ‘overpriced’ would be inaccurate. It seemed a little pricey to me, though. BAT is not air conditioned. It will be a sweaty visit on a hot day.

I took my girlfriend here for a date and we had a great time. The owners were very helpful and encouraging, it’s very user friendly for newcomers, and it’s a very affordable rate. For ten dollars you can get in a good half hour of play. I will definitely come back again soon!

I LOVE Batting A Thousand! Connie the owner is great and they’re dedicated to keeping a batting cage on the eastside for Oregonians. And it’s indoor!

«Tuning up for beer league softball» Is, w/o question, as sorry a statement as you’re like to come across in the entire English Language. Yet there me and a buddy were, tuning up our strokes, or swangs, at BAT. Dirt cheap. Open late. It’s kinda like internet dating was viewed 15 years ago: I won’t tell that I was there, if you won’t, darling… Besides, whose to judge on what constitutes«sorry»??? I know guys who are so egotistical, they use pine tar in their gloves, to ensure they don’t muff any grounders, etc. Pine tar! In beer league! and these guys played minor league ball, just a heartbeat away from the bigs, as they will never fail to mention…

My 10 year-old daughter is showing an interest in softball so we got her a glove and a few softballs recently. Well, there’s more to the game than throwing and catching so today I bought her a bat and we found a batting cage to see if she has the right stuff. I’d found another on line review that basically said that Batting A Thousand is an old dump posing as a batting cage center. Mostly, that’s true. The cages are old and tired, the bats and helmets even more so. BUT, we were there to smack some balls and we didn’t leave disappointed. We walked in and the guy behind the counter(likely the owner) was quite friendly and gave us the lowdown on the different cages and how to operate them, which is really quite simple. You buy tokens at the counter and then you plunk them into the controller just inside the cage. We paid for our tokens for what I felt was a pretty reasonable price then moved around the corner to where the action takes place. Basically, there are 4 cages, each named for famous stadiums, with varying degrees of speed on the pitches. My little slugger needed to start out at Fenway Park where the pitches came at a manageable pace. After a few tokens, some wise coaching and encouragement for the kid, dad stepped up to the plate at Dodger Stadium and cracked some 55MPH fastballs. I’d forgotten how fun it was! Yes, the place is old and tired, shabby-chic without the chic, I would say. There are a few video games and an air hockey table, a few vending machines and the cages. Nothing fancy, for sure. But, the pitches kept coming and both of us had a great time together. We’ll definitely go back and that’s why, despite the overall condition of the place, I give it an «A-OK» rating.

This is a great place to practice your batting. Ok well it’s the first place I’ve ever been to hit balls but the owner is really nice and helpful. I felt welcome and encouraged. There are baseballs and softballs to hit. They have bats you can use. It’s on my way home for work, a great way to get stress out! I will most likely never hit a home run but this is going to help my batting average for sure. I will be back again and again!
