This is a great stretch of trail smack in the middle of downtown. The trail head on Aspen Ave starts in a residential area, then goes up straight into forest. It’s a beautiful, easy hike that’s suitable for families, older hikers, dogs, and runners(the ground is reasonably flat, which I like to see for trail running). The entire loop is fairly long — I want to say just over 12 miles — but of course, you can just turn back at any time. There isn’t any dedicated parking here, so you will have to park curbside. You’ll also want to use the restroom before you head up for your hike; there aren’t any facilities available at the trail head, and I didn’t see any on our hike itself, either.
