a great festival full of creative pieces… la jitana again always has the salmon caesar salad, a large portion, and they are friendly… the art ranges from non-objective to reality based… lots of inter active and demonstrations…

This is such a wonderful, typical Portlandia(in a good way!) event. There are all sorts of different artists here, from painters to those who work with steel, wood, and you take your pick and search for unique clothes and hats and bags – it’s all present and for sale. The quality of their work is extremely high. These artisans work at their particular craft for a long time and have a definite style. There are small food carts on either end to enjoy while your eyes do another kind of feasting.

I am glad that they blocked off the street for such a wonderful event here in Portland. I support the concept behind this festival. What I don’t like to see is, this is Portland they should only feature artists from Oregon or better yet 100mi radius of Portland City proper. Why would I want to attend a Portland art fest to see art from Montana? I want to buy and support local art. Yeah it is important for me to keep the locals employed. We have enough creative people within the metro area, that we don’t need to bring artists from out of state. Most of the art featured at the festival prices start at $ 250-$ 300 and increases from that point. Nothing blew me away that I couldn’t make my self or that I had to have. The blacksmith and woodworking booths were entertaining. It was a fun time and we would go back, but hopefully they will start to supply it with more local artists.

I’m so glad I read about this event in the Oregonian. I had a wonderful time walking up and down the rows of stalls, talking with the artists, and being amazed by the artwork. Understandably, price tags were high, way out of my budget, so I was there simply to window shop instead of to buy. I think most folks were just looking, too. I have to remove a star because of the congestion. The rows between the stalls were very narrow and with people and strollers and dogs starting and stopping without notice, it made getting around difficult. I very much liked that they had all the food vendors clustered together on one edge of the fair. I don’t imagine it’s an artist’s dream to have people with food and dripping sno-cones and sticky fingers and such mingling with their creations. There were plenty of garbage cans, port-o-johns, and security. Next year, grab your straw sunhat and make sure to visit Art in the Pearl!

Beautiful stroll down the 8 aisles of art. Anything from wood classes to handwoven baskets but mostly paintings and photographs. Beautiful art to stop and look at or inspire you to get creative! Please do stop by and check out the talented artists. I wish I had a bigger house so I could buy everything I wanted. Note to self: buy a house with lots of wall space for art.

This is my kind of event. I love walking around and seeing what artists have made and maybe even buying something. The event is in the North Park Blocks, obviously in the Pearl, and it seems to go on forever. There are some food vendors also, which is helpful if you want some coffee or a snack or even lunch. There is such a mixture of artists. My favorites are the metal sculptures, but there is everything there. There is jewelry and purses and fine art paintings, as well as beautiful photography and ceramic goods. As I said, this event is made for me. I look forward to going every year.

So, I just happened to stumble upon the very tail end of this great looking festival that featured art of all different types, shapes, colors, sizes, textures, materials, and just about anything else you could think of. Located in the center of the Pearl District this Labor Day Weekend event provided people with a chance to browse and purchase artwork, try various foods from food trucks of all shapes and sizes(which are all over the place in downtown Portland!), and generally have a good time during the holiday weekend. I only wish I would have been there before all the vendors were closing down for the day. Maybe next year!
