Arco AMPM

I want to bump the star rating up here a bit because I come here for coffee almost every day and the staff is always wonderful.

Staff are rude. After waiting for five minutes, the attendant tells us card only. Then walks away even though we’re grabbing our card. Five minutes later, he comes back and starts filling our gas. Then, when we try to pay him, he points for us to go inside, doesn’t even say anything.
My friend goes in to pay. When she asks if there’s a card fee, he taps the monitor displaying the price without saying a word.
In addition, I understand the card fees are higher than other Arco AMPM stations. Between this and the poor service, you’re better off going to the nearby Shell Station or just skipping this Arco all together.

They have gas. They are debit/​cash only.
They took my money and gave me gas. Nice and cheap gas. Hence the debit/​cash only. If you are too far from Costco gas or don’t have a Costco membership, this is fine.

I often go to this station because it’s near my house. I have always had a good experience. The staff remembers me and greets me with a smile. I go even after my best friend gave them a terrible review. She said the first and only time she went there the customer service was poor. Sometimes I like to check things out for myself.

The one on NE 102^nd is horrible. I told the man I wanted fifteen dollars and he thought I said fill it. Now I am not a Mexican basher since my boyfriend is from Mexico, but if they are going to work with the public their English needs to improve. It gets worse, the cashier from the middle East was so rude. Mean even. I tried to explain that the van wasn’t even mine. That it was a friends van, but to no avail. What if I didn’t have the 60 to cover that in the bank? I could have been overdrawn and had to pay fees. Thankfully, I had the money. I met someone else a few months later who told me that happened to them as well. I just got a letter in the mail saying they have been sued. GOOD!!!

This locatoin has went from bad to worse.
The staff is always cold and distant.
There is a fee for any and all card transactions. I agree with others that the fees should be told to you before they pump your gass. Why is this ARCO station higher in fees than the rest in Portland? I get that their gas is cheaper, but in my opinion you get what you pay for. Especially true when it comes yo their service here.
I will cross powell everytime I need gas to the shell station.

This is a basic ARCO. I filled up the moving van before returning it when I first got back to Portland. At the time they were charging the convenience fee and it was $ 0.45 which most ARCO in this area only charge $ 0.35.
Now, they should be charging no fee based on this article (
) but I haven’t been by to check. Their price is usually cheaper than other stations on Powell but a few pennies higher than other ARCO. The station building is old, but acceptable.

I’d say I’m amazed at how many people have written negative reviews of this place, but it really is that bad. The staff is unbelievably, unflinchingly rude. I have actually just bought a dollar’s worth of gas here to GET ME TO THE NEXT STATION before. This review will likely never matter to anyone, because when you’re out of gas, you’re out of gas I guess. But if you’re equidistant between two stations PICK THE OTHER ONE.

Ridiculous prices, $ 5 for milk? really?

BOO! not a fan. everything costs an arm and a leg here! Jesus, try buying a 6 pack of beer; $ 10 f’n bucks damn near! Skip this joint, and go to Plaid Pantry.

Cheap gas, convenience store, and hot foods, no credit.
Yup, the gas is cheaper because they don’t take cards. No Arco gas stations take credit. It’s why the gas is about $.10 cheaper per gallon than the other guys.
This to me is your average 3 star gas station but with slightly less than friendly workers.
The location is convenient, but it’s always crowded, so it can be hard to get in/​out of. Guess it’s because the gas is cheap.
It’s a gas station, what more do you want from me?

The most indifferent and rude work staff in all of Portland.
These guys should feel lucky to have a J.O.B. with attitude’s like this.
It’s not just once or twice, it’s every time without fail I can’t believe how I was treated.
So that was the last time, and I call for a boycott.
Until they decide to treat me like a human being, I’m not going back.

Aside from agreeing with everything the previous reviewer said, I have to say – one thing about this place tops everything else. Every time I’ve been there, the attitudes of the guys working there have SUCKED ASS. I can deal with no credit cards and the 45 cent fee. What I refuse to deal with is a sucky attitude and that’s all I ever get here. They act like I am inconveniencing them for buying my gas there. No thanks! I’d rather run out of gas on Powell or even the Ross Island Bridge than come back here. In fact, I am now making it a point to NOT ever go there again, no matter how convenient it is as I drive by.
EDIT: I have seen at least 2 new people working outside as I have driven by. I don’t know if they’re new or what. The times I have been there dealing with the rude employees have always been at night. If you go during the day, you might get different people and thus a better experience.

They don’t take credit cards.
They charge $.45 for their ATM in order to get gas.
And, you don’t find out their additional ATM fees until after you get
your gas pumped for you (as is the law in Oregon).
Which makes their gas service (with ATM charge) more expensive
than any other gas station in the area.
It sucks.
