Never tried this place until today. Friends always kept raving about it so decided to grab some take out to try. Thursday night, not too busy. Four cooks, three servers and no service from the moment I come in for about seven minutes. Not even a greeting. Finally an older man comes to take my order but halfway leaves when I’m in mid sentence to tend to another customer literally in the back of the restaurant. Came back and finally had my order in after fifteen minutes of waiting for them to get their shit straight. Food is mediocre for the price. Down the street just a bit is Cartlandia. Go there instead. The Thai food carts provide just as much or even more food for just $ 6-$ 7 and it’s much better. Okay food with shit service wasn’t worth my time and probably not yours either.

My first experience here was not so good. I asked for extra peanut sauce and the reaction I got was like I asked for his daughters phone number. To be fair, once I got home to eat, I was just as protective of the peanut sauce. I liked their food well enough to try again and now that I know how to order the extra peanut sauce, I have not had any more problems. The food is good. I pick it up and bring it home, the atmosphere is not worth going on a date or anything like that. I recommend the food and ask for the small side of peanut sauce.

Ahhh! I really wish I will like this place because it’s the closest Thai place to my house. But in terms of my experience here… it was«Meh. I’ve experienced better» two stars. There are so many other Thai places around town with similar pricing and way better quality. «Thai spicy» wasn’t even spicy at all! Plus, service is hit or miss. Perhaps they recently hired someone new. It took a while for us to even get our water/drinks and a menu. The actual waiter actually asked if we were ready to order… before we even got a menu. Overall just not impressed at all :(

I’ve been going here for over 6 years now. I love the consistency here. The staff is always nice and attentive, the restaurant is always clean and the food is always delicious. Every dish I’ve ever tried has been as good or better than all other Thai food places I experienced. Their dishes average 10 bucks a piece and they are one of the few Asian restaurants with unlimited refills on beverages. If your nearby and want some Thai, this is the place!

Super tasty. I got three dishes as we heard the place was awesome and wanted to gather enough Intel:) EVERYTHING was great. The Bbq combo dish, a saucy beef and mushroom dish as well as the potstickers were really above and beyond my expectations. New dinner spot! Prompt service– I got my stuff to go– it was done quick, accurately and pleasantly.

The most recent reviews for this place had me worried that it was a once great place that had gone down hill but was holding on to it’s once great rating. The most recent reviews were pretty unfair in my opinion. I tried this place for the first time yesterday and I thought it was decent. Not the greatest but not bad, and definitely not 1 – 2 star. I give it 3.75 and will try it again. We tried the Appetizer sampler(ok but seemed moslty microwave/deep fry stuff), coconut soup(decent but not my thing), silver glass noodle pad thai with seafood(decent), thai iced tea(good) and coconut dessert(decent). I want to try the standard pad thai next time. Service was very friendly, accurate, and the place was clean. Granted, it was a slow time of day, but nothing warranting the recent string of 1 – 2 star reviews.

Thai-d up in a knot! First and foremost, this place will always be special to me because it was the first place I had ever tried Thai food before, and fell in love with it. Those decadent flavors, fresh noodles, and delicate sauces all coming together in glorious harmony. So it pains me to say that all good things must come to an end, and for myself and Arawan, it will end here. Met here for a work meeting at lunch, and I was sadly unimpressed with how the quality has gone downhill. I ordered the Pad Kee Mow, a standard on any Thai menu and one of my favorites. Noodles were dry, there was hardly any sauce, and very few vegetables. After awhile you know good Thai and mediocre, and unfortunately mediocre is what Arawan has become. My lunch was cooked way too fast and too hot, and whatever saucy goodness they started with, was gone in a hot wok second!!! I appreciate their always attentive service, cleanliness, and the nice atmosphere they have. To be fair, if you’re stuck in Clackamas and in need of a quick lunch that’s on the healthy side, you could do much worse than here, and I would still encourage people to eat here and see for themselves. Much better option than greasy fast food or some chain restaurant. However for me, to pay $ 8 – 10 for a lunch and an iced tea… I’m afraid the proof is on the plate and I won’t pay good money for such lackluster food. A real shame because this was one of the first Thai places in the area over 10 years ago, and you would think that with a loyal following they would be inspired to be the best.

I’ve only gotten the pad Thai and it was better then places I’ve been to before. Would go again xbut the parking is troublesome since it’s close by to a starbucks.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I thought the good reviews and the fact that I was in Portland(a real city) meant that I could get some decent Thai food. I ordered via phone and swung by to pick up. Noodles were greasy, taste less, and I almost gave up getting any more Asian food for the rest of my work trip. Located in a strip mall, this place is definitely catered to an Americanized palate. Ugh. Avoid.

Cero customer service skills in this place, the host not friendly at all, the server never asked if everything was ok, he just delivered my food and disappeared, I had to get up from my table to ask for hot sauce, plus the food was cold, they saw me walk out, not even«thanks» «come back soon» etc.

Worst place for thai food! The service sucks and they have a hard time getting the food you order right. I ordered a shrimp dish and I got one made with chicken. When I received what I ordered it was incomplete; missing ingredients and poorly prepared. To top it off, the server tried to talk me into believing that’s how my dish is usually done. BS!!! I am a fan of thai food and I know how it should be made.

Hands down-best Thai food I have ever had! You can tell all of the ingredients are fresh! The sauces are very light and refreshing, nothing is over done.

Arawan is the consistent leader for the absolute BEST Thai food in all of the Portland metro region. We try other spots on occasion, but nothing compares to the quality and freshness of Arawan. The only con is that because they are so awesome, they can sometimes get busy — but a 15 minute wait for the best Thai food isn’t a hard sell. Arawan is a boon for vegetarians, because there is so much available that’s fresh, vegetarian, and healthy — while keeping my carnivore husband happy at the same time. The Gang Mussaman curry is the best I’ve ever had, and they have a dish with white pepper sauce that I absolutely crave! Bonus right now is that it’s mango season — and Arawan’s mango & sticky rice is back, fresh, and delectable. Try it!

This is the absolute best Thai restaurant in all of Portland. My husband and I come here on a regular basis and absolutely love it. The service is excellent and the food is even better. My favorite appetizers are the chicken satay and the fresh salad rolls. My all time favorite Thai meal is Chicken Pad Thai and I have to say Arawan(in Portland, not Vancouver) has the best pad Thai. I have tried pad Thai at many many restaurants and none are as good as Arawan. There are times when my husband and I will drive 40 minutes from Vancouver just so that we can have great service and food at Arawan. If you’re looking to eat eat some authentic Thai food, I highly recommend this place!

I can only speak for their Pad Thai, but it’s pretty good. Ordering is always easy, over the phone or inside. However, I feel like they’re a bit Americanized. This is a judgment on my part… because I have only tried their Pad Thai, and well-I’m no expert but I think Pad Thai is generally pretty Americanized on it’s own. However, it’s hard to find good food out this way, so I have to say, they’re A-OK.

I went in on a cold Friday night at 5:00. I was seated at a table just beside the front door. Strike one every time someone came in the wind would cut right through me. I ordered an appetizer and a main dish. Strike 2 it took 30 minutes to get the appetizer delivered to the table. Strike 3 it took another 20 minutes to get the main dish. Strike 4 I got the pad Thai and the sauce tasted like ketchup. I’m not sure if they use that in the sauce that normally comes with the dish but it was a not good at all. Too many strikes against the place for me to consider going back. Who knows maybe it was just me but my experience was not up to par with others that have made good reviews about the place.

My favorite Thai restaurant(both locations). I have eaten at so many Thai restaurants all over the US and they are my favorite for curry dishes and my wife loves the Crab Rangoon. The service is friendly with the exception of one or two at the Vancouver location. My review here regards your neighborhood type of restaurant where you can eat in or grab take out. They make really good food, the prices are fair and the staff is quite friendly.

This has been my saving grace! They are very accommodating with allergies! I have 8 things I can’t have and I’ve had multiple dishes from here. I’ve done both take out and dine in. The take out does not have any spice to it because they can’t package the spice /sauces usually on the table to go, but it’s still very tasty. As for dinning in you can make your own spice level and the food is wonderful! They kept our waters full and I never once had to wait for a waitress for something. The booths were comfy to sit in and it was a very clean establishment. You could see the kitchen through the glass wall as they cooked. We did not wait long at all to get our orders and it was worth every second. I’ve had the Phad Thai and loved it, plenty of chicken ratio too. I also had the yellow curry which was full of meat and veggies and served with rice it was delicious, even mouth watering. My dad had the pad-see-ew and really enjoyed it, the noodles were well done sauce wasn’t too much and plenty of meat. This is the place I will forever come back to, and just off 205, perfect for a quick stop or take out and far better than fast food if you’re on your way somewhere. They are very fair price for what you get and great customer service. Not a very big place but very well done!
