Allergy & Dermatology Veterinary Referral Center

We have had 4 dogs over the past 15 years with different allergies that Dr. DeManuelle has treated with success. Our current two pups are a senior Labrador with skin allergies that Dr DeManuelle diagnosed in a heart beat and within a month Emma was greatly improved. She also pointed out how slow Emma was in getting on her feet and addressed her age related arthritis. We now have a 13 year old lab that is smiling and active. Our other lab is 6 and needed a diet change for his skin ailments and Dr DeManuelle also gave us insight into treating his anxiety. She is a smart vet with a compassionate heart. Our dog was unsuccessfully treated for a chronic ear infection by a couple of different general practice veterinarians.
Despite medical attention, the condition worsened.
We made numerous trips to the vet.
We self referred to Dr. DeManuelle, and the infection was successfully treated.
This involved a few visits, and some time and some money, but resolving the issue was a big deal for us… and made us feel the time and money was well spent.
Dr. DeManuelle recommended some prophylactic measures to keep the infection from reoccurring.
It has been over a year and our dog is still doing well.

We’ve now gone to a new veterinary dermatologist and it has been determined that he has a highly antibiotic resistant bacteria. I am convinced that he got this bad due to being prescribed the same antibiotics over and over. Our 3 visits at the new vet put together have cost less than one visit to the allergy and dermatology referral center and our dog is finally healing up and has more energy than we’ve seen in years. No allergy shots, just the correct meds for the bacteria he has.
I really feel like the allergy and dermatology center is more concerned with adding to your bill than actually helping your pet.

We’ve got a «special needs» dog. He is the biggest lover on the planet, but our boy’s got allergies. Bad allergies. He had been seeing a dermatologist down in San Francisco, and we had him on allergy shots and meds, but hadn’t needed to see one up here in PDX.
Luckily, our vet down in SF recommended Dr. Demanuelle here in Portland. She was booked way in advance, but we got a same day appointment with her partner, Dr. Griffeth. Really friendly staff, very helpful (especially when our pup decided to take a big dump in the middle of their waiting room), and they answered all my questions.
I like that they don’t push unecessary tests, but they are super expensive. First appointments start at $ 100, and that doesn’t include any kind of testing. Our bill was close to $ 400 today (eeek!), but hopefully our pup will be feeling better soon.
There aren’t many specialists in the area, I think they might be it, but I’m glad they don’t let it go to their head and maintain their friendliness :) Much appreciated!
