I’ve been here for lunch a couple of times. Always good food. On my visit the other day I had this delicious portobello mushroom with veggies and mashed potatoes — SOGOOD. Plus there is a little thrift store across the way you can do a little shopping in to support the cause.

Fresh ingredients, tastefully prepared and low prices make Albertina’s Kitchen a great choice for lunch. Friendly volunteer servers, hosts, cashier, reservationist. A private dining room which can be reserved for special events for groups of up to 40 which includes a 3 course meal at a bargain price. What’s not to like? The soups are amazing and homemade and during the summer months the garden area is a wonderful place for a glass of wine and a yummy lunch. Albertina’s is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

It’s hard to say something bad about people doing good work, and although I suspect it was just insensitivity on the part of one volunteer, based on my recent experience, I wouldn’t return to the restaurant. Our server felt the need to comment loudly and even announce to the room anything she found unusual about our group. We got off to a bad start when I asked whether the iced tea was sweetened or not. She shouted, «What is this?! Canada?!» I still don’t know what that means. And when our group’s vegan wasn’t being harped on, I was badgered about declining dessert. Seriously, I politely said«No thank you» three times, so she went around to the other tables and derisively said things like«Can you believe someone isn’t getting dessert? I guess she has will power or something.» Encouraged other customers to change my mind. Maybe she thought it was funny. I found it uncomfortable at best, and bullying at worst. Too bad. The food itself was quite good and the chef even came out to talk with us, and get our feedback. My feedback: don’t let your volunteers be rude to the customers.

When my sister comes to visit from Chicago one of the first places she wants to visit is Albertina’s Restaurant. She loves it. Their food is excellent and the waitresses, who are all volunteers, are very sweet. Their thrift store has great clothes & their gift shop is wonderful You will never be disappointed if you go. It’s a great place. The story behind this business is very heartwarming. Hetty — Chicago Diane — West Linn
