Seems like it’s always open when I stop at Cartlandia which is a plus. Gyro’s here are just aight. Kufta over Rice is what ya’ll should be getting. Don’t forget to get the garlic and hot sauce on the side. 4.5÷5 for me.

I heard friends saying how good it was and I decided to try it and was very disappointed. So disappointed after it being hyped and getting below average gyro stale with the same nasty beef combo mystery turd meat everywhere else that sub par has, maybe step ur game up to what it used to be or never was

My office is near Cartlandia, so this is a common lunch spot for me. In all my visits, Al Mustafah has become my favorite cart. I’ve had the beef, lamb, and kafta(all in gyros), and they have all been delicious. Also, the gyros are quite large without being messy or cumbersome at all.

I got the lamb gyros with fries… Flat bread was cold/stale. Lamb was like processed bologna, yuk. Fries were undercooked and just not good. I ate less than half before throwing it out. I should have went to The«G» Spot.

If you havn’t tried Al Mustafah yet the food is out of this world as well as the customer service. Amair is the operator and he even let my wife and I try his wife’s fresh made Bach lava. It was a very good choice for our evening and I give Al Mustafah five stars.

WOW! Excellent food and awesome host. We had the Kufta over rice and it was delicious! Generous portions and the owner refilled our salad/yogurt dressing when we ran low. Highly recommended!

I’ve been craving shawarma for months. I’ve been to Cartlandia tons of times and this place always has a line. I finally looked them up on Unilocal and low and behold — 5 stars. Today was the day. Can I just say that I am SOSAD it took me this long to try Al Mustafah? Unbelievable food. I mean, craaaaaazy tasty, large portions and so reasonable. I got the beef shawarma with garlic sauce, tzatziki and mild hot sauce. My food was easily 1lb. The meat was juicy and incredibly flavorful, the sauces were fresh and the pita was hot and almost buttery. I will be back… probably in a week. There was a lady in line before me who told me it was her 3rd time there in the last 10 days because she and her husband couldn’t stop craving it. I knew then I was in the right place. Side note: Cash only but there are 2 ATMs around the hub.

Surprisingly blah. I’ve been on a Gyro binge lately so I’ve gone to many Gyro places around town in the last month and this was just ok. With all the 5 star reviews I was expecting more. I ordered the Lamb Gyro and the nice man pulled out a box with a label saying they were pre-formed Gyro meatloaf patties. When we got the Gyro it looked really good and we were really excited. I liked the flavor of the sauces that were put on but I couldn’t taste the meat at all as It was overshadowed by the other fillings. I realize there are multiple locations and the one we tried was at Cartlandia on 82nd. If you’re in the area maybe try it out but I’ll probably try one of the taco carts next time.

Note that this review is for the the downtown location, not the eastside one. Not sure why Unilocal allowed me to check in here though I was standing at 5th and stark. I tried the chicken shish kebab and it was amazing. Really good value too. As a bonus, they are open late even on Sundays.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. I ordered the Kufta gyro, and was seriously satisfied. Large portions, especially for the money. Owner/operator seemed to take pride in his product. I will be back soon!!!

Holy Falafel Balls! Our food from Al Mustafah was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! I got a falafel gyro and my husband got the chicken shawarma and we were both delighted. The falafel was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the portion sizes are huge. As other Unilocalers have mentioned, the service is extra friendly and they take great pride in their food. Since there were no other customers at the time, Hossein(the owner) sat outside with us and we enjoyed a nice chat. Support this cart, they are awesome!

Was craving gyros. Stumbled upon this place last time I was in Cartlandia but didn’t have cash. So was prepared with cash but not prepared for the big portion… Omg! I ordered 2 lamb gyros but only had room for one. Bigger than my two hands: D

I like to consider myself a falafel enthusiast. The falafel here are hands down the best I’ve had in Portland and in the entire Pacific Northwest. They are fluffy on the inside and crispy and hot on the outside. They clearly know the seasoning ratios and use fresh garbanzos. GETTHEFALAFEL!

Tucked in the back of Cartlandia — it’s worth the walk. I am not a fan of falafel so when my dining companion offered me a taste of his falafel gyro I was hesitant, but man oh man, I am a convert. I think the secret to good falafel must be that they are freshly fried and here they are. Fried per order. My kufta gyro was also very good. I’d definitely go back.

I’m having a hard time finding words for our first experience at Al Mustafah. It seems to defy any reasonable expectations of what would be considered a good dining experience. «Excellent» doesn’t begin to describe the quality of their food, and the sincerity and friendliness of the proprietors of this cart. I and my kids were looking over the menu, when the proprietor offered us a sample. He gave us each a very generous serving of their«mixture of beef and lamb». We eagerly tasted it, and I’ve NEVER seen that facial expression on my son before. He’s mostly vegetarian(because he doesn’t like the taste of meat), but he said that the meat was one of the best things he’s ever tasted. Both of my sons instantly made up their minds that they’d found where they wanted to eat. While waiting for the proprietor to return to the window to take our orders, he arrived with another round of samples. This round was chicken, and it was equally mind-blowingly delicious. He was so incredibly friendly! Really nice guy. My eldest son ordered a deceptively-understated«beef over rice», and my middle son ordered«kafta over rice». As impossibly delicious as the samples were, the completed entrees were amazingly better! The rice was a PERFECTLY-cooked saffron-infused basmati, and there was a very generous portion of meat with what has to be the most delicious sauce on the face of this earth drizzled over it. It was then sprinkled with paprika for a beautiful presentation. We were also thrilled to see that it was served with a fresh salad, scratch-made hummus, and tzatziki. All were impossibly fresh, and impossibly delicious. The portion size was HUGE as well. My eldest son could only finish half of his, and ate the rest for lunch the following day. He said it was amazingly good when reheated as well. The aroma of the reheated meal was amazing. I seriously cannot speak highly enough about Al Mustafah. The proprietors demonstrated such incredibly friendliness and hospitality, and the food was literally beyond compare. Dine here, and you will NOT be disappointed!

Ate here about a week ago and his food was amazing! He really takes the time with flavor and prep, there is more than enough for the cost, and for Cartlandia(not China town) he’s got the best meal in the place. Super friendly, and being new to the area has the best middle eastern/Mediterranean style around for ¼ of the cost. Pedal over and give him a shot!
