21st Century Towing

Twice now my apartment complex has had to call these guys out to remove vehicles that parked under my reserved carport. Both times they got out here in a reasonable amount of time, and the drivers were friendly and respectful. I have no complaints. If I ever needed a tow and was in that area of Portland, I’d definitely give them a call for help.

Was involved an accident off of Powell and Naegeli in SE. The tow driver hooked up my front wheel drive car by the back wheels, didn’t strap or safety chain it. Hell, the driver didn’t bother to put those little lights on it. He just lifted and took it to the tow yard. When I came to get my car the next day, I paid my tow bill so I could get my car. I tried to put in drive and it wouldn’t go anywhere. I told the office personell what I had witnessed the night before. Their response «WE FIGURED YOUR CAR WAS TOTALED, SO WE COULDN’T MAKE IT ANY WORSE» SO, besides the rear end damage from the accident, my transmission is blown, which insurance company and tow company refused to pay for. NOW THE CAR IS TOTALED. Crooked company, untrained or lazy drivers. No accountability. AND I’m out $ 155 for them towing (destroying) my car. Not sure how they’re still in business, let alone still have police contract. Wonder how many cars they ruin when they steal from people’s homes.

A good friend of mine was parked at his sister’s apt complex in her assigned parking spot as she has no car. He was there to lend assistance to his family as his brother was in the hospital in critical condition. These scumbags towed his car under the cover of night, then refused to give it back after the situation had been explained. Judging from the reviews on this and other websites (my guess is that the two 5 star reviews are either family or were paid off by 21^st to leave them). I’ve run up against predatory tow companies in the past and unfortunately they give all tow companies a bad name with their more than despicable actions… All I can say is Karma is a B*@ch…

Second time being towed in last few months. First time was from my own spot. This time cause there wasn’t any spot to park in. The whole complex guest parking was full. So I parked in the one of the 3 office parking spots next to this white car that had the same issue. I stayed outside waiting for an opening on a guest spot but nothing. Wake up this morning and it’s gone. Been waiting to pick it up because everyone is «on police calls»

I hate these guys.

ODOT called my car in to be towed by 21^st century towing on Powell. A simple blown out tire can escalate very quickly to an unbearable situation. I didn’t have the money to get it out for almost a week, but when I came in with cash not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. Not a nice looking place, but Its not a hotel, so who cares. First of all, the husband and wife that run the place were more than pleasant. The sweet lady even loaned me some tools to replace the tire BEFORE I could pay get the car out. We had a good laugh and great conversation. The price ended up being not near what I was quoted by simple phone call, right when I realized it was towed. I wish I didn’t have to spend money as a consequence of an already rough night with a blowout. I don’t hold that against them. They were great people, and I’m sure they cut the price to help my situation. If I need a car towed I will definitely call them. 5 stars all the way and I hope to see them happy, healthy and in business a long time!

This is a disgusting shack off of Powell with an outhouse and no computers. When going to get my car out, which had my parking permit in it, and was parked in my own spot in my complex, the owner wouldn’t hear of letting me have it without paying at least $ 200 (after talking down). Had my complex manager call him stating that she did, in fact see it (didn’t care), and had to call the police to get it out. DO NOT CONTRACT THESE PEOPLE. They are crooks, and I have heard that they will open cars, hide permits, do anything to rip people off and tow cars. I’m afraid to be at parked at my complex knowing they will come in the middle of the night and try to rip me off. Part of the reason I’m moving away. The lady in the office is the only reasonable one, and doesn’t have much power to do anything. A terrible company.

My car was recovered stolen and towed by 21^st Century towing. The men there were effective and offered me tips to retain my car in the future. I met the man in Thomas Q M’s prior post and found him to be helpful – however my experience may not be the norm.

21^st Century Towing recently replaced a former agency to patrol our Apartment Complex. Logically one might assume they are to protect residents vehicles against theft & vandalism. NOT SO. Turns out, a majority of Tow Agencies are crooks that prey upon the public like a parasite. They will abscond with your vehicle for imagined ‘infractions’, primarily to line their wallets. 21^st Century happens to be THE WORST! I witnessed a 20 something, 400 pound obese (redundant) tow operator, tamper with records in front of the Portland Police to justify a tow! So many residents vehicles have been absconded, a petition to rescind their contract has been drafted. In the 19^th century, horse thieves were shot. I’m not advocating this practice, however what’s the difference from the 21^st Century (pun not intended)? A mans transportation is near sacred and not be tampered with! Whether you’re law abiding, or a THIEF it doesn’t matter. These unscrupulous guys’ only motivation is YOUR CAR AND YOUR MONEY!
