The Vault Bar & Grill

This place was a real find! Easy to find off the freeway. It was fun to drive through an old downtown area. The food was delicious and very fresh. I loved my avacado burger. We also ordered a bacon cheese burger and blue cheese burger. Don’t miss the fries. They are delicious! But we also ordered a very fresh side salad. The wait staff was excellent. They were extremely kind to my autistic daughter as well. Really a wonderful lunch.

Great food and service! Constant flow of people dining in and picking up take out orders. We all enjoyed our burgers: A1, mushroom and Swiss, and Avacado Burger. Owner was very attentive and visited with all the customers. If you’re in the are, try them out.

Look I love this place. I found it by word of mouth and now I’m the one showing my friends this place. They have great burgers, fries, pastrami and tri-​tip. Sam, the owner, is a friendly guy that will always talk to you when he can and his friendly staff are great. Sam will even recommend you new craft beers to try or some of his personal favorites. Thanks for introducing me to Orange-​U-​glad IPA by the way. What makes this place is the atmosphere, it’s what Porterville needs. A great family place where everyone is friendly, the food is great, and it’s got that down to earth people to people feel. I’ve been coming here once a week at least since my first visit.

My husband and I had to do some business in Porterville, and a close friend recommended that we stop in here for lunch. It was completely packed, but we found seats at the counter. Our server immediately brought us menus, and took our drink order. She also brought me several samples of the different IPA’s to try after I ordered a beer. I ended up trying the avocado burger, while my hubby ordered the A1 burger. Our meals came out pretty fast considering how busy they were. My avocado burger was delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and the burger itself was perfectly cooked. My one and only complaint is that I spit out at least four big chunks of fatty pieces. Other than that it was very tasty. My husband loved his burger, and even ordered the tri tip sandwich to go. He later informed me that it was «damn good!» The fries are amazing here as well, and they give you enough to feed an army! We ended up seeing a tray of cupcakes before paying our tab, so we took two home for dessert. We went with the Elvis, which is a banana cupcake frosted with a peanut butter frosting, and topped with a hard chocolate shell. It was very good, but so rich and sweet that I could only eat a few bites. Can’t wait to come back and try something else on the menu.

The pros about this place: the burger was tasty
The cons: service was slow, the burger was much smaller than they post on social media, and most importantly, we got served OLD craft beer past its prime.
If you are going to be a craft beer establishment, you need to have quality control over what you serve. If you serve me an old ipa, that is the quickest way to lose a customer.
I cannot reccomend this place UNLESS you want a good burger, that is on the small scale. I will not reccomend this place as a beer destination by virtue of getting an old ipa.

Service takes too long. It’s a little after 1:00 pm. The place is half full. Waited for almost half an hour for my food. The tri-​tip is a little too salty for my taste.

Warning: $ 10 minimum on credit/​debit transactions.
Why set a minimum just above the price of most of your items? I wanted to try this place out, but never carry cash (who does?) and don’t feel like wasting food just so I can use a card. I can understand wanting to discourage people from buying a side of ranch with a CC, but really, $ 10 minimum? In this day and age, credit card fees should be factored into the cost of doing business. So now, rather than simply losing the 4% processing fee or whatever their merchant service rate is, they’ve lost a customer and a potential future revenue stream. Please reconsider this and any other policies that inhibit your customers from doing business with you.

Awesome, you have to try it. Blue cheese burger and jalapeño burger were fire. Right next to Mecca, so you can get a dessert shot.

Messy, but oh so good. My husband had their blue cheese burger, and I had the mushroom and Swiss cheese burger. Just be prepared to keep a napkin constantly handy, as they are messy, but oh so worth it. Can’t wait to go back again.

Cheers Vault Grill! From the quick friendly service to the very tasty burgers. I had the jalapeño burger and they deep fried the jalapeños so good. I recommend the IPA on tap too. The perfect place for a great lunch at a price you can’t beat.

Food was great! A little slow getting the food though. Parking was hard to find. Overall atmosphere was awesome. The place was busy and people were enjoying their lunch. They do serve alcohol, so it might be a good place to come for dinner before a show or other activity.
Everyone was friendly and I really enjoyed my visit. Come try it if you want a good burger.

Amazing! That sums up this place in one word. I think this place has awesome food, staff, and drinks! A great spot to rest your hat and have a drink and a great burger.

When the hell did Porterville get a legit bar and grill? Seriously, this place blows any competition out of the water in terms of quality food, beverages, and customer service. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for this stellar location.

The only downfall is they are not opened enough. I’ve been to this place a few times already and still unsure of their schedule. I know they’re closed on Mondays which is kind of a bummer :(
Hopefully in the near future they’ll open on a regular basis.

Probably the best hamburger you can get at a decent price in town. Despite the small seating arrangement this has the mom and pop feeling of a hometown restaurant joint. The place is busy on a Friday night so they may have to arrange the seating to accommodate your party. Food all I can say is awesome there was a group of 5 and we had pastrami burger, vault burger, and tri-​tip sandwich not a complaint from the table. They also have different varieties of beer on tap which goes well with that burger. So if you’re looking for a good home town place you won’t go wrong at the Vault.

No frills, just great food and a great selection of beer.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and portions are filling. The establishment is clean and well situated.

This is the best place in town for a good burger, fries and beer. The people here are friendly and Sam the owner is always there if you have any questions, like what kind of new beer should I try this time? I try to be here at least once a week to support the Vault. Finally there’s a place in Porterville I like enough to hang out with friends and down a few beers. :)

Their Burgers are AMAZING! The Strawberry-​Feta Salad is delicious! Their Buffalo Wings are not hot, but very good!!! Too full for dessert, but I cannot wait to dig in to these yummy treats! Oh, GREAT service too!!!

Newly opened and already the best craft beer bar in Porterville. Definitely nice to be able to actually enjoy a beer in my hometown without having to travel to Visalia.
While it may not look like much, it isn’t meant to be anything overly spectacular. It is what it wants to be: a burger place with some good beer. Hopefully some more cool local décor will appear and as the business thrives it begins upgrading whatever is necessary to stay ahead of the beer game in town (which it’s already light years ahead here in the ‘ville).
I hope this location grows and helps Porterville discover new beers. And I hope it creates the demand that truly flavorful beer deserves.
