Airway Cafe

This place is so cool! Lil hometown spot located inside of the municipal airport. If you feel lost driving to this place, you’re headed to the right spot! It’s off of Newcomb (west onto Hope St.). The décor is super cool and appropriate for an airport. The customer service is good and the people are nice. The food was delicious! Good, big portions and crispy hash browns (from real potatoes!)… and as a bonus, if you’re lucky you will see a plane land or take off!

Flew my mom here for breakfast few times in Piper Aztec. Plenty of transient parking. Runway is wide and long, ideal for twin engines.
The food is great. The service is excellent. Thank you very much. Highly recommended.

I came here while doing a rescue transporting a dog between San Diego and Sacramento. I called the café 3 days in advance to make sure they allowed dogs. The woman told me they did in their outdoor seating area. When I arrived, the ever so busy waitress who clearly couldn’t handle the entire 5 occupied tables «on her own» told me that they were too busy to serve us outside and they prefer we sat inside, leaving the dog in the airplane with pretty much no ventilation. I told her that I wasn’t willing to leave the dog unattended and was shocked that we couldn’t be accommodated due to having a dog they TOLD me was welcome there. She said that she «would serve us» but that it would basically be slow service, and they had «a really big party coming in», which was clearly far more important. I even went as far as telling her that I would be more than happy to serve ourselves if it made her job easier. She continued to repeat that she would «serve us»…at a snails pace, snotty attitude and all. What a great welcome to Porterville!

Good food. Big portions. Small area. Nice staff. Haven’t tried anything I didn’t like. Including the bloody marys.
