We love this sushi place. Fresh fish & good prices. We usually get a few rolls and an appetizer to split, but the last time we went, we switched it up and got entrees. The Yakisoba & Bento boxes are great too. End your meal with green tea ice cream & you will not be disappointed. The service here is quick and friendly. The décor is dark, but comfy. Glad to have a good choice other than Kumo.

Absolutely the best sushi in the area. Priced well and served with an artistic flair. We’ve had the hibachi, sushi and sashimi and they are all outstanding. This is our go to restaurant for date nights. Don’t let the strip mall atmosphere fool you. This is a great place!

Took business associates to this place and they were impressed by the sushi art. Came here with Hubby several times and food has been pretty good! Sushi was the best part of the menu, the hibachi and bento box were good but not great. For example, they always overcooked our steak when we asked for medium. Overall, it is the best Japanese restaurant in Portage/Kalamazoo area.

We stopped by here on a Unilocal recommendation. Love It! The food is over the top. Presentation is excellent. They treated us so well for obvious first-time visitors.

This place is a gem! I haven’t had anything that I didn’t think was amazing. We get takeout pretty regularly.

I ordered two special sushi rolls for take out on New Year’s Eve. The place was hopping and they were short staffed, but when I got it home my order was really fresh and carefully, not hastily crafted. The tempura had not a trace of sogginess. I’m consistently impressed with the quality of the sushi here, and having eaten at sushi places on the coast in metro areas, I’m hard to impress. I can’t wait to go back for more!

This place is a gem. I’m historically a little tough on sushi establishments but it’s for good reason. It’s got to be right and that’s not any easy task. I’ve been here at least a dozen times and the sushi here truly maintains a consistent level of freshness and taste. The restaurant staff has a strong knowledge of the menu items and ingredients. They remember my son has celiac and the g-free soy sauce hits the table less than a minute from the time we sit down. Nice touch. The lunch special is great price, the portions are generously cut, and everything I’ve had has always been fresh. I’d recommend the Rainbow Roll if you want to get a nice idea of several types of fish. Both the tuna and spicy tuna rolls are great and if you’re an unagi fan the Eel Roll also hits the spot. They get bonus points for presentation, too. No liquor license yet but it’s hardly a player when you’re enjoying food that tastes this good. Really nice folks here too. Five stars is well earned.

Great meal, great service, great prices, what more could you want? Everyone at the table ed very happy with their meals. The sushi chef is an artist sms every plate is beautifully decorated. My only caution would be to prepare yourself for birthday celebrations, they go big.

Where do I even start with my FAVORITE sushi place around? I am always a little tiny bit skeptical when I see a sushi place pop up in the local strip mall, next to the gym, but let me tell you… this place ROCKS! I have traveled and eaten at many a sushi bar, but nothing in the area even comes close to Ziki. For lunch I belly up to the table to indulge in 3 rolls and 4 pieces of my favorite(tuna, salmon or eel) usually, for about $ 16. The chef is a bit of an artist as he swipes a floral or a dragon design on the place in spicy mayo and sriracha and might even add some colorful LED lighting under a martini glass for full effect. For dinner, the presentation is even better, with a little vegetable garnish, an edible flower and maybe a bit of dry ice for that special occasion with your sweetie. Don’t forget that on your birthday you get your meal at 50% off and a free dessert too… what more could you ask for? My wife and I even got out for a little one-on-one time for our anniversary and they gave us a nice dessert on the house. The staff speaks little English but they are smiling, friendly and willing to please so give them a shot and they may quickly become your favorite place too!

Very impressed with everything here! Atmosphere was great, food was delicious and the prices were great! I had the $ 8.99 shrimp lunch bento box, which was salad, miso soup, 2 spring rolls, 4 pieces of California roll, rice and shrimp! It was more than enough food and very tasty! I am excited about this new option in Portage and will absolutely return!

I’ve been to Ziki a dozen times for dinner and once for lunch, and it is the best sushi in town. I’ll be comparing my experiences with Kumo, as I believe it to be strictly superior to other restaurants in town, such as Sakura. The sushi chef has masterful level playing skills, drawing intricate paintings on your plate using a variety of colored sauces. The sushi itself is delicious and is served in a very timely fashion. I’m not sure how their one chef makes sushi by himself for the entire restaurant at a faster pace than Kumo does with 2 – 3 chefs. Their hibachi dinner is very affordable, although you do not get as much fried rice as you do at Kumo. The meat is always cooked as specified and is delicious. The clear soup is far superior to Kumo’s, although the salad is not as good as Kumo. Their dumpling soup is the clear soup with dumplings added, and can be ordered instead with your hibachi, for a slight upcharge; it is very tasty. You can have an excellent dinner for two with a sushi roll and fillet+chicken and shrimp+chicken hibachi for around $ 32. There are the standard dessert options such as Mochi ice-cream or cheesecake, but I always eat too much before that to bother with that. All in all, it’s a bit out of the way where it is in Portage, but it makes for an inexpensive dinner out at prices you shouldn’t pass up.

The food was great! Had the veggie udon soup. The broth was delicious and not too salty. There was a good amount of udon noodles and veggies. The service was good and the restaurant was clean with nice atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone.

This was a great experience for me, my wife, and a couple friends. Good prices for the special sushi rolls and very good prices for the regular rolls. I love sushi, but I’ve probably only been to about ten different sushi restaurants. This was the best I’ve ever had! The spicy tuna was very high quality. My friend who was with, who loves sushi and visited Japan for a short time, agreed that it was some of the best spicy tuna he’s had. My wife got the hibachi salmon and shrimp with vegetables. She thought the potion size was perfect. It was well-seasoned with a tasty sauce. This will definitely be our go-to sushi place in Portage. Great prices, great quality, and very good service as well. Highly recommend it!

I was planning on having some sushi for dinner at home, so I decided to stop by this place to take it out. It was my surprise when I saw how nice and warm is the interior of this place. I decided to eat here. Prices were very affordable and food was great. I ordered the shrimp and salmon hibachi with edamame as appetizer. Delicious. But…they don’t sell alcohol… yet.

One of my favorite spots in the Portage/Kalamazoo area! I cannot speak more highly of this establishment! Everything from the staff, chef, atmosphere, and of course food! Hibachi and sushi are top notch and you can’t beat the prices! I love that they so easily remember you once you’ve come in only a couple of times! Makes you feel very welcome! This is definitely our go-to for sushi! Love love love it! It would be awesome if they could get a liquor license :)

Definitely the best sushi in town. It’s very difficult to go elsewhere now. I will admit, I have only gotten sushi, so I can only speak to that. But every roll I have had has been excellent. Very fresh and surprisingly speedy, even when they are busy. I mean, it’s not fast food, but you’re not waiting forever. The presentation of the sushi is just out of this world– and what impresses me is the thoughtful and fun presentation on each plate whether it is the busy dinner rush or if there’s only 1 other table there. Just really adds to the fun! I cannot recommend the magic salmon roll highly enough– the chef’s sauce is some kind of delicious mystery and adds a refreshing citrus flavor. I have enjoy every roll I’ve tried, but that one is my favorite– also really enjoy the Portage, Tiger, and Sweetheart. Prices are quite reasonable. Lunch specials look like a great deal, I have not yet gotten there for lunch though. They do not yet have a bar, which suits me just fine. Service has always been gracious and attentive. Definitely go try this place out!

Really enjoyed this place. It covers all the bases for great sushi. Really friendly service. The selection of rolls is pretty big and it’s incredibly fresh and delicious. I also loved their presentation– beautiful and creative! They use steel chopsticks, adding a sleek and fine dining Experience. I’m not going to lie, I’m not the best with chopsticks I found them to be extra challenge– no grip! Their lunch specials seem unbeatable, too.
