The largest of the parks in Portage, Indiana covering 256 acres. It has softball and soccer complexes and the 10 mile«Outback Trail» perfect for mountain bikers and walkers. The trails stretch through beautiful forest area along Salt Creek. Also see the«Iron Horse Heritage Trail» at the south end which now is connected to the«Prairie Duneland Trail» that runs east and west from Hobart on the west end to Chesterton on the east. There is also a playground for the kiddies. If you want to go to the best park in Portage, this is definitely it. When I’m not riding the bike I just like to go and trip out on the trees and birds and whatnot. If you are walking on the trail you have the right of way, but still be careful of the bikes because there are alot of blind turns in there and the bikers may not see you until they have run you over, however, everyone I’ve seen has been very careful.
