One of the best BBQ spots for a quick lunch break on Main Street in port Washington, the brisket sandwich is literally out of this world !!! When I get a craving for brisket sandwich, I pass go, and drive directly here !
Pulled pork is also good but brisket takes the cake for me, it s a little Divy in a great way and you can eat there or take it to go, these guys are quick with the service and the sandwiches are amazing !! Bam !

We decided to try Hickory’s today for the first time. We got ½ pound of brisket, ½ a rack of ribs and cole slaw with spicy fries. The ribs were surprisingly really good, I can’t say it’s as good as Texas or melting in your mouth but it was well seasoned and the meat was tender. The brisket was GROSS! I expect brisket to be freshly sliced with a nice red smoke ring around the meat. We received a styrofoam cup with mushy meat that was tasteless doused in a sweet bright pink sauce. We tasted it and couldn’t eat more than one bite. The texture was slimy and looked liked it was sliced 3 days ago. The spicy fries were pretty good and not too oily but I didn’t think the spice to make it spicy was worth an extra charge. Cole slaw was pretty standard… will only be returning here possibly for the ribs.

I should give it five stars but they don’t serve mushrooms as a condiment. .Meat was super fresh and tasty. Great counter service. I like the unpretentious décor. The dining room could use a good cleaning, but this is really a take out place. they do have three/​four tables but its all about the great burgers and great prices. I will update my review after trying the ribs & pulled pork. They just may get a fifth star!

Food is good and very reasonably priced but the service is awful. The man taking my order seemed distracted on the phone and of course my order was wrong. We don’t order too often but when we do we enjoy it I just wish the order was accurate. Half the time I order it is wrong. They close so early and delivery always takes very long.

Great Beef Brisket sandwich. The Brisket has a lot of flavor and the sandwich is a good size. Also the french fries are awesome! looking forward to trying the pulled pork, ribs and chicken!

Great food! Chicken, pulled pork, fries and onion rings, coleslaw, its all great and prices are fair. The staff are helpful and service is great. They have never gotten a takeout order wrong and the whole family loves this place.

Updating to 4.5 stars and rounding up, cause they deserve it.
Reason for update: Other than the wings, I haven’t had anything here that’s not good. And the wings aren’t bad, but my standard for wings are very high. they’re «just ok». Just ok for hickory is probably better than 85% of the places out there.
I’m also convinced that their burgers are one of the best on Long island… far better than any chain (I’m including 5 guys, smashburger, Bobby’s burger palace, shake shack, etc.), far better than any diner, and definitely far far better than anything in the Manhasset/​Roslyn/​Pt. Washington/​Glen Cove area. (this is my lunch area).

The chicken that they use is fresher than your dad being a butcher in the meatpacking district in the 90’s.
The hot sauce is what happens when fresh ground peppers, Frank’s red hot, and sriracha all get together at Peter Lugers and have an adult evening.
Please go, but don’t eat all of the special chicken sandwiches with hot sauce. Also save some for me.

This place is pretty good. I’ve only been here once so far so my opinion is limited but I ordered the BBQ meat plate which has a good sampling of everything. I wasn’t as impressed as some other people that have been here. Yea yea, the place is a dump. Order take out. Save yourself. But the sampling of ribs, brisket, and pork to me was just ok. I’ve had better BBQ upstate NY and at Dinosaur BBQ. The meat was somewhat tender. Definitely not fall-​off-​the-​bone. The sauce was ok. The brisket to me was a miss. The pork was very good however. On the side I got spicy fries, which taste like fries in Old Bay seasoning, and cole slaw which was decent. I don’t know. I’m not a big BBQ fan as it is. It’s a once in a while type meal. This place isn’t getting me back in any sooner. Womp womp.

i ordered from hickory today and had it delivered. delivery was around noon. it sucked!!! our food was cold!!! no condiments or utensils to eat with!!! called to speak with a manager but the rude, nasty and unprofessional worker refused to put he or she on. also, the unprofessional worker pretended to be the manager like i didn’t recognize his voice!!! it (he deserves no respect) stated the manager didn’t want to speak with me either. what kind of business refuses to speak with a paying customer!!! if i was nasty than ok but i wasn’t!!! i would never order from there again plus i’m tell allllll my co workers the same!!! hickory ‘s famous wood pit bbq sucks totally!!! they can kick rocks with open toes shoes!!! we have a huge party of 80 in 2 weeks and hickory (don’t eat there) was going to get our business. now never!!!

Food was decent but slightly pricier for the quality. I’ve been to various BBQ places in NY (Blue Smoke, Dallas BBQ, Hill Country, Famous Daves) and this joint holds its weight in comparison, mostly in moistness of the meat. The baby back ribs were tender and not overloaded in sauce. The brisket was moist however I felt it didn’t pack a punch of flavor. I’m not a huge fan of corn bread, but theirs was superb. PRO: convenience in an area with few BBQ options, overall quality of meats. CON: slightly pricier then I would expect. OVERALL: would probably return but not weekly.

I got the pepper jack burger w. Bacon. It was really tasty but the best part about this place are the prices relative to the area. It came out to less than $ 7 while almost every other restaurant in the manhasset /​pw area is well over 10 $

I came here with my family on 8⁄15 because we were around the corner adopting a puppy. We came to grab a bite to eat while NSAL checked our references. I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich with fries as did my husband and mother in law. Our food was delicious! It was fresh and tasty. My only complaint (and the reason why I didn’t give this place 5 stars) is that the guy behind the counter was not friendly at all. I get that not everyone can be friendly like myself, but he was kind of curt with us and I did not like that.

I absolutely love hickorys. I pick up a full rack platter for my boyfriend and a half chicken for me. This half chicken is better than anything ive ever had.
He loves the ribs more than any bbq joint we’ve tried in the area.
They do local delivery. I prefer to call in for pick up (super prompt).

Nothing tastes quite like Hickory’s. These French fries and grilled chicken are unmatched. The fried chicken tenders are also heavenly and not processed/​frozen! I always look forward to coming here.
Why 4 stars, not 5? Because… Why is the lettuce white? If Hickory’s could manage getting green lettuce, they would deserve 5 stars. Sorry, it had to be said. Still love this place regardless though.

Stopped by after visiting sands point park and preserve. My party and I decided on this place after seeing the sign that said «famous bbq» and Im glad we did because I loved every bite! The bbq ribs, the chicken, steak, and pulled pork were absolutely delicious. The man behind the counter was very accommodating, he made sure we got everything we needed. The only thing is the seating area isn’t good for large groups but overall the food was great. Will definitely be coming back.

I love this place. Every time I go, I am never disappointed. I love their regular cheese burgers and their fries! They are amazing! You definitely must try them! The prices are reasonable and I do feel like it is a lot of food. I can never finish my food because it is so much but it is always so good to just throw away!

We eat at Hickory often. The BBQ is excellent both the chicken and ribs. The French fries are made with fresh cut potatoes. It’s small but the food is prepared for you and done radially. It’s got a more masculine energy than many establishments, but not in a bad way.

Went for lunch to go the other day… The fries were so good that I can’t wait for next week to have another serving lol… Now the chicken had no seasoning other than being «charbroiled» it had no flavor and was well done. However, I’m used to BBQ tasting sweet instead of burnt… Salad was nasty and the sauce/​dressing they put on the salad was too spicy for me… I’ll go back just for the fries…

We have ordered in from this place a few times and I have to say it is pretty great. The chicken sandwiches were both delicious and a really good serving. The French fries are fresh and crunchy and an order of them can be split by 2 adults. I have yet to try other dishes but will definitely be ordering again soon. Delivery was fairly quick and the staff were nice. All in all I’m glad we tried it.
Side note– the beans and rice were bland and tasteless. We like our food with more favor. My son ate some but wasn’t thrilled.

Super low key BBQ place in port washington. The food was decent, though I’ve had better. I give this place props, though, for the authenticity and all around down to earth nature of the place. I may not be back anytime soon, but I certainly thought it was a jolly ol’ joint.
