Looking for a restaurant kid friendly in this very small town wasn’t easy But here we are(7 people, included 4 kids) and they did a very good job for us Even if at the first view it doesn’t look kid friendly, everyone from the cook to the different waiters were super patient and sweet with them. They even sit us in a corner at our demand to not disturb too much other customers, gave coloring sheets for the kids and offer to plug the tv on Disney. The food was good too, all served at the same time and fresh, price are mostly reasonable only few dishes are pricey. If it wasn’t so far from home I would gladly come again Oh and the bathroom(washroom here) are big and very clean !!

Took visiting daughter and son in law there. This is the second time we had been there. It was not good the first time but thought we would give it a second chance since they were new owners and the kinetics parade was going on and they were very busy and unorganized. Well, it was worse! My husband and I had fish and chips and all was soggy and the fish tasted funny. Worst I ever had I could barely eat it. My salad was good and the service was quick. Our guest didn’t say how there was and I didn’t ask. I was embarrassed to have taken them there.

First, Naomi is an awesome waitress! Since the Britt’s aren’t famous for the food, she was able to transform a gamey(but good, according to my hunter son) Dick confit panini into an awesome Cubano Panini with pulled pork, Black Forest Ham and Swiss cheese. The atmosphere is very Pub– like during the day. It’s probably a Dive at night because the Bar is huge and the ambience right for a rip-roaring time.

Decided to stop here for a drink and snacks on a sunny afternoon. After waiting over 10 minutes to even be noticed(and while looking up nearby places, because we were ready to leave) one waitress came by and said she’d get us taken care of right away. Waited another 5 minutes to get menus and decided we’d stick to just drinks. We could easily walk away now without paying, but won’t. It’s not busy and there is staff standing around. Save yourself the pain. Don’t come here.

Food was amazing. Had the bangers and mash, the cannuck poutine, and a nice house salad. All were very solid. Really enjoyed the meal! Service was a little off however… Waitress disappeared on us and her clothes seemed dirty, which set us off a bit. However we will be back!

We visited PT for a quick day trip and were reluctant to stop in, but I’m so glad we did. The service was prompt and attentive. We had at least 2 servers and the hostess who checked in on us during our lunch/dinner. There’s a fine line between attentive and annoying, and they stays firmly on the side of friendly and hospitable. The food was pretty standard pub food but done so well. We shared a Canuck poutine(pulled pork with house made bbq sauce) to start and it was some of the best we’ve had in the states. Just enough pork to be an accompaniment. We are more of the poutine than we should of because we were way too full to eat our entrees. My husband got the house club with a fresh house salad. The chicken was roasted perfectly and the pork belly was a really nice alternative to the bacon. I had the bangers and mash, which was also fantastic. For a Sunday afternoon, I considered it fairly busy with almost half the tables occupied. The service was great and the food was excellent. We’ll be back the next time we’re in PT!

We ate here today. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the Guinness Steak Pie. It was very good. The crust was flaky. My wife had a Northwestern Burger. She was very satisfied. My son had the Bangers and Mash which he said were delicious.

We had a great dinner. Super Portuguese seafood stew. Great salad and drinks. Service was attentive. Lots of families, here, and older diners.

Positive: the place was clean and the Santa Fe bugar was awesome. Negatives: we should have turned around when we saw there were open tables… the salmon bisque was lacking in salmon… or flavor… the Ceasar salad was lacking in all flavor. Some of the oysters had some green funky stuff come out of them. The drinks were well poured but our server hardly came around so we couldn’t order another. Might have just been an off night but this was very disappointing!

We are locals and decided to try this new restaurant. There were 3 of us and we all were served in a timely manner and had good food, well presented, and the drinks were good. Try the Cucumber Spritzer. Yum. On the down side, all the dining chairs must be from the old establishment and were dusty,(looked like the only place they were ever wiped was from the guests butts), dirty and sticky. We had a window table and the window was dull and dirty inside and out. The flowers in the planter outside the window were DEAD! Come on, it’s spring time. We’re going to try this restaurant again in a month or so to see if the cleanliness and flowers have improved.

Absolutely no reason for the bad reviews. 4 of us went in for lunch — 3 burgers and a Cubano sandwich, some with fries, some with side salads. The salads were fresh and crisp, the burgers were cooked exactly to order and had a variety of stuff on them from portobello mushroom slices to blue cheese chunks, and the Cubano got 2 thumbs up — loaded with ham, crunchy pickles, pulled pork and the right amount of mustard, all on pressed, crunchy panini bread. Our server, Naomi, was attentive and fun, and brought us a big birthday brownie w/ice cream to share. Would definitely go back.

My mother in law came in to eat with a friend for lunch the other day. I will start with all the positive things here– the location was accessible, near the rare parking lot in Port Townsend. The décor was very pleasing to the eye. The waitress was adorable and awesome to us, always asking the right questions and checking on us often without being annoying. She couldn’t have been better :) we had a couple babies with us too, and they were very accommodating to us with that. Why does it only get two stars then? The food. My burger was hardly cooked at all. It was as if they slapped it on the grill and then immediately flipped it over so as you brown just the outside. The meat was greasy, and grossly(and unsafe it) undercooked. To me, if a place doesn’t at least make me feel like eating their food is SAFE, they deserve a bad review. The fries were cold and the lettuce and tomatoes didn’t even taste fresh. It was pretty dissatisfying.

Miss the Public House! We come to Port Townsend a couple times a year. We used to enjoy eating at the Public House. Well… you can’t go home again! This place changed to the old whiskey mill and SUCKS! The service was ok but the food was way over cooked. Ordered the rib eye medium, got it well. Ordered the double cut pork chop and dry as hell. Complained and nothing… STAYAWAY! Go to Water Front Pizza. We have never been disappointed there.

Reading the other reviews, either we lucked out, or they are getting their act together. We had lunch and our food was delicious. I had the sweet potato burger and loved it — fried onions and a delicious spicy sauce complimented the«burger,» which seemed house made. My husband had the salmon chowder and said he liked it, too. I had a wonderful IPA from Hilliards in Ballard. Our server was genuinely friendly and also very attentive. It wasn’t busy, so maybe that contributed to the success of our visit. But I get the impression they are really trying. Having a good server makes so much difference!

We had the Cubano Sandwich, Old Mill Burger, Steak Pot Pie, and Prime Rib Salad. Everyone enjoyed their food however my salad could have been better. The meat was very fatty and it wasn’t cooked enough to make it edible. I had a tough time cutting it off, tossing salad all over the table. Also I would have substituted the bleu cheese dressing for a balsamic vinaigrette. The Bacon Bloody Mary was yummy also. Overall the experience was pleasurable.

It really was as good as it get’s! My wife Jennifer and I were staying in town and found our selves here at around 9:00 pm last night. Our server Isabella cared for us the whole time. We ordered the fry’s and gravy(her choice) And I had the Chicken club. Even being late in the evening the food and service was outstanding! Due to an injury to my stomach I could not finish my meal and asked if I could get a bag for our walk back to the hotel. Isabella searched high and low and came up with a box for us. She is an amazing person. The food was great, but cannot begin to tell you how well we were taken care of. Thank you Isabella! We will be back when we are back in Port Townsend!

To back up what others have noticed, the hostess seemed on a different planet, must be nepotism involved with her employment. So, let’s take the worst cuisine in the world, English, the people who brought you boiled tomatoes, fried toast and kippers and build a menu around it… that’s a great idea. So the menu, no clam chowder to start, and the fish and chips where cod, with no option to up-scale to halibut. We ordered the cod, cracked in through too much breading and the cod was fishy and grey. Their tartar sauce was really gross, I couldn’t even get my husband to try it after smelling it, I wanted to go back into the kitchen and make something decent, it would have taken me 5 minutes to make something edible. Everything was cheap, no Heinz ketchup, some random off label crap, everything on the menu was cheap, Denny’s has the decency to serve decent ketchup. We ordered a burger, also inedible, left it at the table. Unbalanced with cheap, nasty cheese. So, out-of-towners, have fun, this place is for you, locals will not revisit, and this place will be gone in two years. If you are from out of town and want something decent, Waterfront Pizza cannot be beat, and Cellars and the Fountain Café are awesome. Waiter was nice, however should find a job with security because this will not last.

Beer cheese and poutine(pork belly was SCRUMPTIOUS). The scotch ale was great, though their beer selection did not disappoint. A couple of things our party had: –pork belly poutine: if you couldn’t already tell, WEALLLOVEDIT! The beer cheese was excellent and the pork belly was such a great topping –duck confit sandwich: duck was dry and wasn’t as flavorful as we expected. Also, the meat wasn’t as tender as it should’ve been. The avocado also wasn’t impressive. Something’s going on here… –Santa Fe burger: a good ol’ burger never disappoints –fish chips: I had a bite. Meh, meaty fish covered in a thick batter. I’ve had better, but this wasn’t terribly done Overall, it was a cute bistro type restaurant. The décor of the wooden boats were very appealing and appropriate for a town like Port Townsend(we were also dining on the day of the boat building festival, so we definitely noticed those little details)

We decided to give this place a try while visiting the area for the day. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, despite an otherwise empty lobby. The hostess was very removed, and didn’t say one word to us aside from initially asking how many were in our party. We waited about another 10 – 15 minutes before our server came by to acknowledge us, but she was very sweet and apologetic. The beers were great, and came promptly after we ordered. The food, however, took about an hour to arrive! Meanwhile, our server didn’t stop by once to check in on us or apologize for the wait, which would have been a nice gesture. A table nearby that had been seated well after us had not only received their food long before us, but had also finished and left by the time our food arrived. The food itself was tasty enough, but nothing worth waiting quite that long for. Especially given that the restaurant was practically empty… The only two positive aspects of this experience were the beer, and the friendliness of our server. I may consider giving this place another chance if I happen to be in the area, but only if they can manage to work out a few kinks.
