It’s been several months since my mother-in-law passed so this review is somewhat removed from that sad event. Seaport is a modern apartment complex with two wings. One for independent living and the other for those needing some care, i.e. assisted living. We thought the place was reasonably neat and clean and the food well prepared with a good number of choices. The staff works hard to please the residents. As my mother-in-law declined, however, she needed more care and we enrolled her in the first level of care which provided 15 hours of care/month(carefully monitored for time but not quality) at a cost of $ 750 additional/months. This is in the range of $ 50/hour. The services provided were cuing(that is reminding her of meals and bath supervision). There is no quality control in the place and the nursing staff is either poorly trained or overworked or both so that very little assessment and supervision is provided.(I’m a retired physician and aware of standards of care) In the end we hired outside caregivers at $ 20/hour to come in and help with her increasing needs. The Seaport landing staff were simply unable to provide quality service at any reasonable cost(or for that matter any cost). There is a high turnover of staff at this place so that the new manager noted in the previous review left in the middle of our experience with the place. As a result there is little continuity and no one really in charge. So if the resident is independent and well this is not a bad place, in my view. But if there is any care needed you will either have to go elsewhere or bring in outside help… at a more reasonable cost.

Disclaimer: my experience is based on caring for my Mother who lives in an independent apartment at Seaport Landing. We have no direct experience with the service specific to the assisted living wing. That said, the management and staff are caring and try hard, BUT are over worked, underpaid, and rarely stay long in the job. Three managers, and four activity directors in two years… several cooks, two bus drivers, complete change of reception staff, etc. And too many gaps in service(activities & transportation). Staff are spread too thin, management doubles up to serve meals & cover the reception desk all too often. Food suffers from the absence of a chef in charge, or short staffing in the kitchen. Not good enough for charging in the upper third in rent for similar facilities. Note: 5⁄12 the new manager is trying hard, plans to stay, and is optimistic! But wages for staff are absurdly low!
